OOC:
Is Hrafe making an opportunity attack? If so none occurred. If someone makes a disengage check and fails, it means they don't move after all. If he had moved without a disengage check, then you could have attacked.

Edgar leaps over to the half orc and delivers a lethal slash that brings him down. As if one swift movement, Edgar rolls by the table and almost gets close enough to engage the elves, but not quite.

Alll good, we are all learning. You haven't done much with disengaging other than the boss of chapter 1 getting away

I could have sworn when I read that post the first time it just said Edgar's turn. That's why I was asking if I should go on not in the 1-on-1 thread. Sorry for the confusion.
There's still one in her face. She can smell his stinking breath. She's been close to that stink before. It's orc - or something close to it. She doesn't much care about the particulars. If her eyes weren't already hazy, you could probably see a new haze descend over her countenance, and she pretty much just roars back at the source of the stink, her voice shrill and raspy. She grabs a fistful of arrows, nocks them haphazardly, and fires them all at the thing in front of her.
OOC:
Lot's going on with flexible attacks, so I hope this flows easily since I don't know AC exactly.

Action: Flexible Ranged vs. HO2
-- If it misses, it'll trigger Carve an Opening, and Comeback Strike. Deals 2 miss damage, Crit Range is 18+ now, and another attack at -2.
-- If it hits somehow, it'll trigger Carve an Opening and deal 2d10+3 damage.

When/if Comeback Strike is triggered, it rolled a 12:
-- If it misses with a 12, that's it, deal 2 more miss damage and turn over.
-- If it hits with a 12, it'll trigger, Deadly Assault, and I'll reroll any 1s and 2s on the damage.

Either way, the damage on a hit will be 2d10+3, so I'll just roll that, and then reroll any 1s and 2s just in case and there aren't any 1s or 2s so Deadly Assault does nothing.

Rolls

Flexible Ranged vs. HO2 - (d20+3+2)

(7) + 5 = 12

Assuming the attack is a miss, it'll trigger Comeback Strike - (d20+1+2)

(12) + 3 = 15

Damage - (2d10+3)

(74) + 3 = 14

Both attacks miss, as the half orc dodges the first shot at puts the pressure on the follow up attack. He seems untrained, yet used to getting rough.
OOC:
I see carve an opening only works with melee attacks. Is there a rule I am unaware of or w conversation we had where that works with ranged attacks against enemies you are engaged with?

Elf 1 fires at the pursuing rogue and continues to move downwards. He seems to be mostly keeping his distance, rather than trying to hi tail it out of the situation.
OOC:
Summary
Edgar takes 4 damage

Makasi and Hrafe are up

Rolls

Elf Light Cross ow vs Edgar AC 14 - 4 damage - (1d20+5)

(11) + 5 = 16

"Makasi, the elf!"

Hrafe wheels around the half-orc, attempting to cut through his exposed flank. "I have this handled!" Interposing himself between Ylliane and the half-orc in case his attack wasn't enough to strike a mortal wound.

Rolls

Melee Attack - Total - (2d20h1+9)

(2016) + 9 = 29

Melee Damage - Total - (2d10+4)

(32) + 4 = 9

"Got it," Makasi says, as she bellows a war cry and runs charting at the elf, halberd thrust before her.
OOC:
I think I'm too far away to attack the elf, right?
Feb 13, 2024 1:08 pm
Hrafe cuts down the half orc, who smacks into the ground and immediately stops moving as a pool of blood starts to form.
OOC:
Makasi is too far from the elf to move and attack, but I you want to dedicate your entire turn to moving then you can engage either elf, but you won't be able to attack that same turn.
As a side note, these elves appear to be high elves. Edgar knows what that means mechanically.

OOC:
Nope, I wasn't paying attention. Ignore all that.

OOC:
That's fine. She will engage either Elf. I don't know enough to choose, so just choose randomly.
Feb 15, 2024 8:45 pm
Makasi runs up to elf 1, using all of her action and movement to do so.

Rolls

Random elf - (1d2)

(1) = 1

Thug

Elf 2 looks at how they seem to be surrounded, but instead of panicking he shoot at Makasi and teleports to the other side of Makasi and just out of engagement range. Edgar realizes that these are high elves, just like he had been turned into, and are thus able to teleport short distances.
OOC:
Summary:
Attack misses. Now Ylliane and Edgar's turn.
With one move, Edgar could make it as far as AM16
Ylliane could use one move to get as far as where Edgar is now, and from there could try and shoot either elf at the risk of a nat1 possibly hurting Makasi. With 2 moves (action and move action), she can make it to AM15

Rolls

Thug Mace vs Makasi AC 21 - 4 damage - (1d20+5)

(14) + 5 = 19

Feb 16, 2024 9:20 am
Edgar strides forward with purpose and catches up with the elf that's engaged with Makasi. Once he's caught up, he strikes out with a dagger.

Rolls

Melee Attack - Total - (1d20+7+3)

(2) + 10 = 12

Abandon Dagger - Total - (2d8+5)

(63) + 5 = 14

Sneak Attack - Total - (1d6)

(6) = 6

OOC:
Did Edgar want to make just a basic attack or use an at-will power? The attack missed, but Edgar could have used one instead of just a basic attack. Not required though. Keep in mind E1 is not staggered, and Edgar did not have momentum.

Also, did you engage with only E1, or did you move to AM16, which would have you engaged with both elves?
Feb 16, 2024 6:02 pm
OOC:
Will move to AM16. Just used a basic attack as without Momentum or the need use Evasive Strike none really seem to apply.
Feb 16, 2024 7:00 pm
Ylliane nods her thanks to Hrafe and immediately takes off toward Edgar. Getting to just about where Edgar was is just fine with her. She nocks another arrow as she moves, and looses it at the furthest enemy. The arrow passes audibly by Makasi's ear and slides between Edgar's blade and his prey before slamming into the other elf. "Please don't run. We were never properly introduced."
OOC:
Move to AL8-ish, action: ranged flexible attack vs E2, using Power Attack (+1d4 damage), triggers Precision Attack (+3) damage

Rolls

longbow - attack - (1d20+6)

(18) + 6 = 24

damage - (2d10+3+1d4+3)

(88) + (2) + 6 = 24

Thug

Edgar runs up and narrowly misses the elf, but manages to nick him a little. Ylliane comes around the corner and fires a powerful arrow that kills the farther elf, sending him to his knees and then face to the dirt.

The elf teleports, just as the others did, and then says, "I have to warn the boss..." before moving towards the far side of the room.

The room you find yourself in seems to be a where some, but not all, of the thugs you have been fighting would sleep. The campfire is not lit, but looks to have been used recently. The tend looks to hold 4 people at a time, but no one comes out at this time and is likely empty.
OOC:
Summary:
The elf did not attack. He seems to be running to warn the others. On his next turn, he likely will get within ear shot of someone, or at least you assume.

Makasi and Hrafe are up.
If Hrafe did nothing but move, he can get to about where Makasi is standing now.
It Makasi moves, one movement would get her to the other side of the room, but not close enough to engage. With a full move, she can engage the elf again, but that means no attack.
You know that high elves can only teleport once per battle, so any future runs would either require disengage checks or permit opportunity attacks.

OOC:
Do I have enough maneuvers and actions to drop my halbertd, pull out my javelin, and throw it?

Or could I use Haberd Tricks to stop him from running?
