Spore damage rolls...

A poisoned creature has disadvantage on attack rolls and ability checks.
The effects will need to be stabilized...although I believe your party is fortunate enough to have the means to do so.

The spores fill the area. They make eyes water and all cough. Tasya and Cordey's sturdiness defends them from the full havoc the spores are capable of wreaking. But less fortunately, the spores bore deep into Admiral and Regan's lungs, immediately taking effect and disorienting the two, leaving them with a feeling of weakness.

"Jin!!" screams Tasya in panic as she fights off the effects of the spores on her and rushes to the magician.

Jin--who was already weak from taking prior damage during the fight outside and with the seaweed-- falls to the floor gasping and sweating profusely; his body convulses. Tasya cradles his head and firmly holds his shoulders, trying to counter his convulsions.

OOC:
Cordey has won your party initiative. He tied with the plants so ties will go in the party’s favor. You guys go first.

I may be wrong, but I interpret initiative as a different thing than an ability check. So no disadvantage for it in this case.
May 11, 2024 3:38 pm
Big Cordey steps in as close and defensively he can to protect hurt Jin. He protectively hacks and slashes the Algae Limbs. Pieces go all through the air.
OOC:
Cordey uses Action Surge and hits with a 16 & 19 for 19 piercing damage.
Edit: Cleaned up Cordey's character sheet some.

Fighting against the fatigue and disorientation brought about by the poison, Admiral digs his shaking claws into the kelp-covered wall of the tunnel, siphoning the life force of the surrounding plant life. He recalls Captain Ebzer doing something similar, siphoning the life force of his enemies to bolster his own strength, but rather than using the life energy himself he redirects it toward Jin.
OOC:
I’m using all 4 of my patron points to cast Wither and Bloom, targeting the plants (DC 14 CON save or they each take 2d6 damage or half as much on a successful save) and healing Jin for one of his hit dice +4
[ +- ] Wither and Bloom

Rolls

Damage - (2d6)

(46) = 10

May 12, 2024 2:41 pm
Cordey, fighting off the effects of the poison, quickly reacts and slices a limb to one side of the tunnel (AL A 8 damage), spins, and slices another algae limb on the other side (AL C 8 damage). As the sliced limbs fall to the floor and wither, the plants that sprouted the limbs seems to writhe in pain, taking some damage from the severed limbs (KL1 4 damage, KL2 4 damage).

Disorientation and fatigue threaten to overwhelm Admiral's senses. He fights to stay focused and digs his shaking claws into the kelp-covered wall of the tunnel, siphoning the life force of the surrounding plant life.

Algae limbs wither and fall limp as Admiral drains their life force. The host plants clearly feel the effect of the magic as well. (see stats below)

Admiral is able to channel some of the life force that is drained from the unnatural plants into the ailing Jin. His body stops convulsing and his breathing steadies. Tasya sighs loudly with relief and helps him to his uneasy feet.

Realizing he is feeling the effects of the spores and isn't in a good position, coupled with just how many enemies he sees (not helped by the occassional double-vision), Regan elects to cast Armor of Agathys and let the damned weeds kill themselves.
OOC:
AoA with a 2nd level slot is 10 temp HP, and melee attackers take 10 cold damage as long as he has any Temp HP left.

OOC:
I updated the stats in the earlier post to reflect Regan's AoA spell.

The three algae limbs that were not cut down whip toward Regan and Tasya (two lash out at her) attempting to wrap around and constrict them. The limb cannot constrict Regan through his armor, but the other two wrap firmly around Tasya and grapple her. They begin to pull her in two different directions. She breaks free of one but the other keeps her grappled. (Tasya: 8 damage)

The magical spectral frost that surrounds Regan spreads to the algae limb that constricts him. A blue frost slowly spreads across the plant limb. (AL F: 8 damage)
