@Sardis You are up first.
The trapdoor still has a heavy chain on it that needs to be removed to open it.
You currently do not see the Son. He is still below.

What would you like to do?
You are all in the circled red room.

The padlock unlocks with a clack. The chain that is wrapped around the trapped door is able to be removed...

You will have to wait to see.

@Sardis Do you want to do anything else? Removing the chain and (If you wish) opening the door is just an item action.
Jul 29, 2024 3:59 pm
Jerinvar removes the chain and opens the trapdoor, stepping back after it is open in case something 'unpleasant' is on the other side.
Jul 29, 2024 4:10 pm
"Keep that chain and lock nearby" adds Dr. Crow, "We may need it."

As soon as the trap door opens, a tragic figure springs out with terrifying strength and speed. Mid-leap, he flips and lands upside down on the ceiling, his dagger-like fingers digging into the wood as he snarls at the party. Crawling towards the storage room door, the group gets a good look at him: once a vibrant youth, now an emaciated form with ashen gray skin, hollow cheeks, and dull, predatory red eyes. His disheveled hair and tattered clothes reflect his fallen state.

The son scrambles across the walls of the old church. "Father!! I AM HUNGRY!!" he yells, launching himself off the wall and rushing his father. Grabbing the old man by the neck, he lifts him off the ground, desperation and rage twisting his face into a horrific mask.

@Basil The son has left the room and is in the main church (Red Dot is Son Green Dot is Father)

Dr. Crow follows, but not too closely stopping outside the door but leaving enough room for the others to pursue. his speed was surprising and his hopes of a quick subdual dashed. The Crow Dr. is left with a sinking feeling that there will not be enough time (in this round!) to both close the distance and restrain him.

Dr. Crow instead dons one of his many faces in hopes of confusing the son…and perhaps draw his attention elsewhere.

Dr. Crow takes the form of Father Danovich, covered in blood his hands outstretched and inviting….his voice pleading...

"Food!"

The son, in a blink of an eye, moves just a hair out of the way from Jorah's blow... He snarls and holds his father up "ARE THESE MY FOOD FATHER? HAVE YOU BROUGHT THEM TO ME?" He growls.
Father Danovich is speechless. Perhap from Fright, confusion, or something else...

Seeing that Jorah had already engaged the son in melee combat and wasn't fairing well (likely due to the exhaustion the man had been experiencing since their encounter with the mist), Jerivar decided to provide the man some ranged support. The elf puts arrow to bow string, draws it back, takes aim, and then lets it fly. Before he'd let his shot lose, he noticed from the corner of his eye that Briar too was providing the man some much need assistance. He was relieved to see that his new allies had their wits about them and knew how to defend an ally.

The son screams in pain, his body shaking with anger. His mouth stretches wide, elongating as razor-sharp teeth protrude ominously. He moves to bite down into his father's neck, but just as the teeth puncture the skin, he halts. His ears twitch as if catching a distant sound.

With monstrous strength, he hurls his father aside, sending the old man crashing into the broken pews. The sickening crack of bones echoes through the church as the father goes still.

The son rips the bolt and arrow out of his back, and the group watches in horrified fascination as the wounds quickly stitch themselves back up, leaving no trace of injury. Dropping to all fours, he gallops down the hallway towards the church's exit, his movements a blur of predatory grace and raw power

@MaJunior You would get an Attack of Opportunity.
@Basil I think you would get an Attack of Opportunity also.
@Redamancy,@Sardis I do not know where your characters would be in the church but you may take one also if you think you would be in the straight path to the exit.
