Chapter 1: The Commencement

You do spot some wires torn out of the wall that look like they've been chewed on. Only a few feet from that, you spot an upside down trash can with the lid sitting on top of it. It seems very out of place here.

"Alright, how about we find him and get him safe? Then we get you kids back home?" He smiles then adds, "Let's go find my friends." If the kids agree, he leads them out to find where Xiordin and the others went to.

Sioux call in the communicator to all. Found the damaged wires
Then she flips over the trash can

Xiordin draws his blade, ready for some hideous and oversized space parasite to clamber out of the can and try and eat their faces.

The kids follow several steps behind Soryn, walking alongside Scrap and Bolts, who they find completely fascinating. As they enter the room, you see Sioux flip the trash can open, which then does an odd thing: squeak loudly and transform into the creature that the children described before attempting to rush away on its cute furry paws.

Xiordin lunges forward, attempting to slaughter the puppy/space-mimic.

Xiordin dives for the creature, but it's too quick for him and he barely misses it, landing on the hard steel floor of the room instead. The thing makes a beeline for the little girl and leaps into her arms, shaking. She begins petting its head to try to calm it, "Don't hurt him!" she begs, "He's just a little guy!"

"Xiordin! Are you sure such extreme measures are necessary, friend?" Soryn tilts his head toward where the creature is burying itself in the child's arms. "Though we can't let it wander around down here."

I think I have seen one of these critters before? Skitler? Skittler? Something like that. Looks cute, can be intelligent.

She turns to the creature. Hello little fella. What are you doing down here?

"Real cute when they're eating through cables," he mutters even though Xiordin nearly faints when the fiend leaps for the little girl ... and gets a hug.

He stands upright, stiff with embarrassment.

Soryn has never seen such a creature before and has no idea what it could be, though it's clearly some sort of shapeshifter considering it was just pretending to be a trash can.

When Sioux speaks to the thing, it looks at her and cocks its head, letting out a few squeaks. It seems calmer when interacting with Sioux than it did with Xiordin.

"Why don't we focus on getting the kids back, and find out where this thing's home is?"

It doesn't take long for Sioux to repair the damaged wiring now that she's found its location. With that complete, you lead the children up to the bridge, where you find Fitch waiting with several other Starfinder members.

The two children spot a man on the bridge who looks similar to them. They rush toward him, "Daddy!" they call. He falls to his knees and pulls them into a hug along with the creature they're holding, "Where have you been?"

They begin whispering to one another as Fitch speaks up, "Good job, you got the power back on, but what in the hells is that thing?" he asks, looking at the creature.

"To be honest, I don't think any of us are sure. It is some sort of shapeshifter, so it is difficult to tell if this is it's true form or not. It doesn't seem to have been interested in harming the children, though. I think they have been visiting this creature for some time." He looks around, "This is a space station. Someone must have brought it aboard, whether intentionally or not."

"It's never happened that an alien or stranger has sought out children to make a connection with for entirely impolite aims." He stares blankly. "That was dripping with sarcasm."

Fitch looks at the creature for several seconds, deep in thought, "Well, I suppose we'll get some experts on this to see if we can figure out what it is... For now, you've done what you were supposed to. Excellent work. If I'm right, that was your last job, right?" he asks, then checks his datapad and nods before tossing you a credstick with 400 credits on it, "Take some time to rest and don't spend this all in one place."

Kieu Kein, the father of the children walks over and hands you a ring, "For finding my children. I can't thank you enough."

"You're very welcome, sir. It seems they have good hearts, trying to bring that creature food."

He nods to Fitch, "It was our pleasure to offer our assistance. It has been a long day, but rewarding." He bows his head respectfully and waits for the others before departing.

You head back to Absalom station and get one more message from Guidance.

Congratulations on completing your initiation. You are now considered full Starfinders in good standing. Please take some time to rest and reflect on your tasks today. I will reach out soon with details of your next task within three days.

Sioux goes online and makes some advanced queries to the atlas station, its almost hacking. With that information she tracks down Jock. A fellow Starfinder candidate that failed the final test.She spots him in a mall, selling sunglasses of different tech-levels. He spent more time working on getting the girls numbers, than settling them sunglasses. Its actually a bit sad.
Sioux observes him for some time, before she return home to her flat. Now she is no longer a candidate, she can expect to be called out any minute, so she is going to clean up her appartement and reduce the amount of sessions. Until she gets a ship of her own, she will be living out of a bag and sleep in a capsule hotel.
