Is Nyx charmed or afraid again?
May 21, 2025 6:20 pm
Nyx is charmed by boar head at the moment and do nothing but put his head into it's mouth, though none could see it happening as he is still invisible

I just didn't see that update. Needed to refresh my screen

Oh right, sorry I am so chaotic and am editing my post usually several times just after posting it.

HAve we gone into this room before? IF so, are our tracks still clear in the dust?

IF not, Tante Lude will toss the old rusty mace she took off the statues onto the floor to see if it triggers something.
I was just trying to not ignore this
May 26, 2025 7:47 pm
A rusty old mace, sure; a solid gold skull that may trigger something when removed, not the same thing, lol.
May 26, 2025 7:58 pm
Oh. I totally misunderstood. Thought you want to use it to toss skull without touching it.

OK. Now. There is the pedestal and the skull. There is nothing else in the room. If your PCs not greedy, why don't we ignore the skull and move on?
May 26, 2025 8:14 pm
We can skip. I'm just never sure with this dungeon so have gotten into aclear all rooms mentality
May 26, 2025 9:10 pm
It's an idea; knock the skull off the pedestal while remaining outside the room. I'd use TK for it as my Dex is poor though.
May 26, 2025 10:41 pm
go for it, though we had one member step in the room . . . hope the floor doesn't drop out
May 26, 2025 10:49 pm
TK or mage hand would seem the safest options.

Didn't think I could lift it but, just like you can drag double your carry weight, thought it was worth a push. Nothing lost by trying.

Mage hand can't drag, only carry.

Only a creature with defined Str ability score can drag

It's not mage hand, it's the telekinesis feat which has two parts. One is mage hand, the other is a bit different.
Quote:
Tasha's Cauldron of Everything

You learn to move things with your mind, granting you the following benefits:

Increase your Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma score by 1, to a maximum of 20.

You learn the mage hand cantrip. You can cast it without verbal or somatic components, and you can make the spectral hand invisible. If you already know this spell, its range increases by 30 feet when you cast it. Its spellcasting ability is the ability increased by this feat.

As a bonus action, you can try to telekinetically shove one creature you can see within 30 feet of you. When you do so, the target must succeed on a Strength saving throw (DC 8 + your proficiency bonus + the ability modifier of the score increased by this feat) or be moved 5 feet toward or away from you. A creature can willingly fail this save.
If you can shove a (presumably) human sized creature, it's a bit more than a mage hand.

I will not waste my energy discussing this any further. There are two different things in DnD : creature and object.
If rule say something like this:
Quote:
Choose a target. Pick a target within your attack’s range: a creature, an object, or a location.
That means this feature is universal

But if it say
Quote:
shove one creature
then you can only target a creature

At least in my games

No problem. I'm perfectly good with it, just showing where I got the idea.
May 27, 2025 12:18 pm
I see.

A bit of metal gaming bit if telekinesis failed to work because the skull is an object then it has no stat block so no HP. Spell casters might understand this.

It might just be a magic mouth spell with levitation
May 28, 2025 5:13 am
@Psybermagi has a point. We are still treating skull as object which it is. You already know It's magically protected against divination magic (such as Detect Magic) because it did not give any magic aura, but it is obviously magical

Module don't specify exactly how to treat it but I think it is close to Sentient Magic Item and it's relationship with Criella is similar to curse, but is not mechanically a curse - don't waste your remove curse spells on it.

As I hope you noticed the skull is not just repeating the prescribed phrases - it did listen to your earlier conversation and is intelligent enough to reflect on that.
