Dirt had doubts about whether his life couldn’t be replaced. Or rather, that it was worth going to great lengths to save in the first place. He kept those thoughts to himself, as he always had.

He didn’t fancy the idea of crossing the open with his hands tied behind his back, and so he sympathized with the fella in the cell. He supposed he didn’t have what it takes to be a lawman. That’s probably why he had ended up going the other way in life!

"Might be alright if we keep him between us! Making sure he can’t be picked off, I mean!"

"How 'bout y'all quit pussyfootin' around, make a decision and get a move on to the church?" Victor suggests strongly as he glares at the group. "Wastin' time right now is a recipe for a bad death. He ain't runnin' off. We're his only protection. Now let's git!"

Knaggs argues some but in the end accepts being chained to being left behind.

You step outside and here the fighting wind up. Between you and the church, you see three of the creatures dragging some people fighting and struggling ineffectively, a family it looks, down the street toward the train.

"Stay close to us, it's your only chance, Knaggs," Delilah says as they advance up the street, a little cluster of people bristling with guns. Seeing the family in distress, she moves straight towards them and their vampires captors, intending to open fire...

OOC:

What she fires with will depend on the range, whether the vampires are aware or not, etc.

Pistols hanging in his hands and ready for action, Dirt sees his chance to save a family and takes it! He opens fire on the vamps and then starts hollering!

"Come on you freaks! Come and get some!"

It was the least he could do to make amends for everything that had come before…

@KCC You've got The Drop on them, fire away.

The Drop adds +4 to a character’s attack and damage rolls against that target for one action.

"Place your shots careful-like, Mr. Briggs, go for the vitals!" DD says as she raises her coach gun and takes aim as she moves a few steps towards the creatures. Her twelve gauge thumps against her shoulder twice in rapid succession as she fires, trying to blast both the staggered monster and the next nearest barefoot vampire!

Another vampire blasts into dust as it's heart is struck.

The third one grabs it's victim and runs for the train, going behind a building. Unfortunately, the victim squirms and falls hard to the ground, and the vampire starts dragging it by the foot.

Ruby and Dirt are up.

Armed with the shotgun DD gave her, Ruby levels it at the vampire dragging away a victim by the foot, and pulls the trigger.

Lots of special little rules with the shotgun, which are range dependent. Here I bet Q will say either +2 to hit and 3d6 damage (short range, up to 24 yards), or -2 to-hit and 2d6 damage (medium range, 24-48 yards).

"Keep moving for the church!" Dirt reminds the others, even as he breaks off and heads for the building the vampire had just gone behind. Redemption would be his, if nothing else, and he levels his pistols at the beast!

Dirt lines up a bead on the heart and pulls the trigger. The vampire shivers and falls to dust.

The three victims get behind you. "Thank the lord Almighty you came!"
