As
Adeon and his companions left the customs office and made their way towards the nearby Port Authority office, they couldn't shake the feeling of unease that lingered in the air. There was too few people here.
The customs officer followed them at a distance, his footsteps echoing softly behind them as they navigated the passageways.
Adeon glanced over his shoulder, noting the officer's presence with a sense of curiosity tinged with suspicion. What was he doing, following them like this?
When they arrived at the Port Authority office, they were surprised to find it empty. The room was quiet, save for the faint hum of machinery in the background.
Maya exchanged puzzled looks with her companions, their brows furrowing in confusion.
"
Hello? Is anyone here?"
Nesta called out, her voice echoing in the empty room. There was no response.
A couple of seconds later, to their surprise, the same customs officer they encountered earlier emerged from a doorway behind the counter. He cleared his throat awkwardly before speaking.
"
Ah, sorry about that. Welcome to the Port Authority office," he said, his tone a bit sheepish.
"I'm the only one here at the moment. We have a small staff, you see, so we all pitch in wherever we're needed."
