@htech in this setting do spaceships need to have their registration numbers marked in the fuselage in some way, like planes tail numbers? I.e.: would be able to recognize our ship from a distance without embarking?
OOC:
Yup

"So far everything is looking easy, I don't know why Mark didn't send anyone from their company to get the spaceship." - (He clearly doesn't remember the boss' name) As he walks besides Nesta

Adeon confidently walks up to the first person he meets at the Port Authority office and asks with a smile on his face. "Hello good sir/lady we work for the Something Federation Scout Service and are looking for the 'Suck a Hut' scout ship. The last time that was seen was here in Walston. Can you help us?"

Nesta hides her laughing face with her hand
OOC:
Arthur is rolling on the ground laughing as well LOL. P.s.: in my mind I’m also sure that he literally said out-loud: sir/lady

As Adeon and his companions left the customs office and made their way towards the nearby Port Authority office, they couldn't shake the feeling of unease that lingered in the air. There was too few people here.

The customs officer followed them at a distance, his footsteps echoing softly behind them as they navigated the passageways. Adeon glanced over his shoulder, noting the officer's presence with a sense of curiosity tinged with suspicion. What was he doing, following them like this?

When they arrived at the Port Authority office, they were surprised to find it empty. The room was quiet, save for the faint hum of machinery in the background. Maya exchanged puzzled looks with her companions, their brows furrowing in confusion.

"Hello? Is anyone here?" Nesta called out, her voice echoing in the empty room. There was no response.

A couple of seconds later, to their surprise, the same customs officer they encountered earlier emerged from a doorway behind the counter. He cleared his throat awkwardly before speaking.

"Ah, sorry about that. Welcome to the Port Authority office," he said, his tone a bit sheepish."I'm the only one here at the moment. We have a small staff, you see, so we all pitch in wherever we're needed."
OOC:
What do you do?

Nesta is a bit perplexed on why the officer wouldn’t just handle their business in the other building, but who is she to question.

"Hello again, we would like to take a look at the passing ships manifest as I said before"

She will be ready with her data pad to check the serial numbers.
OOC:
Thanks for that, f*** love that guy already LOL

"Sure. Let me see your documentation."

He looks your digital documents and smart contract given by SFSS. Then he types something in his computer.

"Yeah, I see it here. The vessel came through the port a couple of times in the past year. The last time was about 3-4 months ago.Its destination is recorded as ‘In-System’ but there are no details other than a note that the ship was on charter to the World Government of Walston, in Central city."

"How far is the central city from here?"

arthur12320 says:
"How far is the central city from here?"
"Reaching Central from the starport is not difficult.
There is a regular rail service which runs once a day. The railroad is not in the best of condition as there is insufficient labour available to properly maintain it, but so long as the trains do not go very fast it is safe enough."
- answered the customs officer, Port Authority clerk and whatever else he did... Simultaneously.

"Thank you very much"

I think we will make our way to the train station, and see when will the next train coming.
OOC:
I think is best for me to stop posting for today, let everyone catch up before we embark
Mar 20, 2024 11:56 pm
Unfortunately, today's train has already departed. You can catch one tomorrow morning, for 10 credits each. There are a couple of decent enough hotels and a rather more modest hostel, offering barracks-like accommodation and basic meals at a very cheap price.

In addition there are a couple of restaurants and a handful of shops selling local and offworld goods. There is also a broker, selling, literally, tons of fish, oyster and other stuff. It is possible to walk around the town in a few minutes and its mostly underground to avoid the cold and thin atmosphere, so you know where is pretty much everything by now.

As an aside, the customs officer that you met previously is also the person working in the tourist information center.

"wow, that guy is really the worker of the month, hope he doesn’t get burned out"

Nesta speaks under her breath to the rest of the group as they walk out of the building.

"I really want to get something to eat, and then I would not mind staying in a hostel, also we could ask some vendors about info on that city. And you guys? What do you want to do?"

Wanted to try and do something while we were in downtime in the transport, let me know if it's possible @htech
In the first night on the Ship Nesta would have called Phantom (@Spectro) to the crew mess.

"Hi Phantom, seeing you guys fight that battle droid at Markus's place gave me an idea, do you know what this is?"

Nesta holds up a line shunt
[ +- ] Line Shunt
"I think this together with your ability to teleport will extend our capabilities, but you will need some training"

For the next nights when they have time Nesta will try to teach him the basics of how to apply a shunt effectively and will plan some possible scenarios

"... so when i scream "go long" thats your cue to teleport and apply the shunt..."

In the end she will leave one shunt with Phantom already
OOC:
Let me know if i need any rolls for that
"You’re a genius at this nerdy stuff." Phantom says, trying to disguise the fact that he didn't understand how the mechanism worked but trusted Nesta's knowledge. "Just give me the instructions, and I’ll get it done."

"Wow he must have all the jobs here, that's so cool. He must be the juggler in the circus around here. I wish I was a juggler." Adeon looks at his robotic hands and makes a sad sigh

"Now I'm hungr. I want to see how is the food from an underground city. Where is the best food here sir/lady?" Adeon asks the custom officer

Maya looked unsettled as she kept noticing how empty and ominous everything was. Usually talkative, the uneasy feeling she wasn't able to shake off made her more introspective. She carefully listened as her friends navigated the situation and felt grateful for having Adeon to lighten things up with his one-of-a-kind personality.
htech says:

She couldn't leave the fact that they were only able to talk to one officer out of her head. So she decided to try to get them to help the crew understand a little bit more about that persona and what kind of situation the crew was getting into.

"Dear, I'm sorry, I didn't catch your name before. I'm Maya, how would you like to be called?"

Said Maya with a welcoming grin.

"It seems like you're quite the worker here, huh? I'm in awe of your skills to work in so many places in a single day, that's very respectable, but doesn't it get lonely? I would go mad if I didn't have these fools to work with, I'm already feeling out of my comfort zone by being in a place so quiet. Can you tell me more about how things work around here and why is it so calm?"

"Now I'm hungry. I want to see how is the food from an underground city. Where is the best food here sir/lady?" Adeon asks the custom officer
"Oh, my wife is the owner, chef and waitress in the Sandstalker delights. Its a restaurant just around the corner. She sells the best sandstalker meat in the city. Do you know what is a Sandstalker?"

Seeing Adeon face and realizing that he had never heard of it, the officer continues, changing his voice to make it sound like he is telling a scary story by the campfire at night:

"In the vast expanse of Watson's deserts, where life teems with hostility towards humans, lurk some of the most fearsome predators known to roam the sands. Among them, the Sandstalker reigns as one of the most formidable. Resembling a monstrous amalgamation of scorpion and arachnid, the Sandstalker boasts a massive, armored exoskeleton that glistens under the harsh desert sun. Its razor-sharp pincers are capable of slicing through flesh with ease, while its venomous stinger poses a lethal threat to any unfortunate enough to cross its path. With a stealthy and cunning nature, it prowls the dunes, blending seamlessly with its sandy surroundings as it hunts for prey."

OOC:
That was a terrible roll.
Maya's words were met with a tense silence as the customs officer's expression shifted from politeness to one of annoyance. His brows furrowed, and a hint of irritation flashed in his eyes as he clenched his jaw.

"I prefer to keep my personal life private, thank you," the officer replied curtly, his tone sharp and clipped. "And as for your questions about the town, I'm afraid I can't divulge any more information beyond what I've already shared."

"Guys, we need to prove this thing with Sand" - Adeon looks to the crew with his eyes glowing and a smile of enthusiasm.

"Please sir/lady lead the way to the best food in this planet, so we can eat this special sand!"

Adeon is ready to follow the custom officer, if no one is against it.

Somebody else wanna taste a giant scorpion? Yes or for sure?
Mar 23, 2024 12:36 am
Nesta is a bit resistant but agrees, after taking a few steps outside she tries to get near Maya and will speak so that just her can hear it.

"Not having a good feeling about this desolate town, keep your eyes peeled"

She will make sure her laser pistol is well holstered and loaded, and will keep her eyes open and try to reason to why she has that funny feeling about the situation.

Nesta notices that daily life on Watson is slow and, for the most part, comfortable. Filter masks and thick clothing are needed when venturing outside, but otherwise there seems to be no serious hazards close to the town.

Here buildings are blocky with rounded corners, and sunk into the ground rather than built upwards. Thus very few buildings have more than one story aboveground, but larger ones may have two or even three levels below the entry floor. Within a settlement, structures are grouped close together and connected by semi-sunken tunnels at the entry floor level. Most clusters have only a couple of ground-level entrances for personnel and a common vehicle garage.

Indoor clothing on Watson tends to be light. A short and a light shirt/tunic is the commonest dress for both sexes, with light sandals or bare feet.

The customs officer muttered the directions but didn't go with you. You find a small sign with the restaurants name and a middle aged woman at the door.

"Welcome to the Sandstalker delights. Table for 6?"
OOC:
What do you do?
Mar 23, 2024 8:05 pm
Nesta feels a bit more calm about the situation

"Yes for 6 please"

They follow the attendant to the empty table and all sit

"I think we all want to try the sand scorpion and for me I would love to try a vodka with starfire citrus if you have it. And you guys? Anyone else wants a drink?"

Nesta has really high hopes for the sand scorpion her friend Paul always used the recommend sand worms with spice, she thinks the flavors might be similar.

"dear, do you have any recommendations for some cheap accommodations for the night? We just need some place to wait until the next train"
