Scratching at his stubble in thought, Cole listened as his team relayed the information provided by the scans, eyes narrowing as he considered what the results meant. His counterpart on the mirror Raven voiced his opinion, giving the decision of their next steps to him.

"Aurin," he stated eventually, "Is there any indication of a shuttle or landing bay? Or perhaps docking ring?"

His eyes met those of the rest of his team, "I don't know about you, but I don't fancy a spacewalk if we don't have too. Not if there is a risk I might step through some quantum anomaly and end up in some other reality."

Nodding to Luna to open comms, "Standby Raven, we are seeing if there is a landing bay or docking ring ..."

"That would be an unwise safety risk. Let's hope there is a dock or pad."

Drake realized he was stating the obvious, but he often felt like he wasn't contributing as he should. His inexperience held him back, not wanting to make a fool of himself. Now he was excited and hoped they could safely board the other vessel.

I don't think the quantum issues are as drastic here. It is like the eye of a hurricane. a sea of calm with violence and storms around it
She stares out at the monitor.
I also wouldn't fancy a space walk...but we will need our suits regardless...even if we get systems online, they may not support our kind of life

"If there are no docks, I could bring us close so the space walk would be minimal. Like Doctor M'Ress says, we'll all need EVA suits anyway inside that thing." Luna suggests

OOC:
The transporters work now, with the complication removed by the other crew's instructions to cut through the interference.

"Whether or not we need suits in there, it will be quite amazing to witness this ancient alien technology. If it weren't top priority to get home, I would look forward to examining what the arrangement of the station reveals about the cognitive process of the sapient species who built it," replies Jayce still with a fascinated look on his face.

Drake certainly echoes Jayce's sentiments. Surely, they'd have a bit of time to do some observation and analysis.

"Barring any unforeseen circumstances I imagine we might observe and learn what we can. It would be too great an opportunity to pass up.

"We should be able to beam aboard, with the interference compensation. I would run a test, to be sure, first, but it would be safer than trying to cut our way in. A docking bay with no tractors, no shields, no airlocks, would be no better than trying to carve our way in through the bulkhead. Worse, as it's designed to resist catastrophe - or intrusion."

His talons drummed on the console. "We can send a tricorder aboard, to report the conditions, and make sure it isn't disintegrated. Then I will beam aboard myself. I presume my expertise will be necessary. The away team can follow."

His hand lifted and he glanced back at the sensor readings, following the other Raven as it examined the station. His brow furrowed at some unspoken anxiety, but he dismissed it. The last thing they could afford in this moment was distrust.

You're able to determine that there are no radiation hazards or so forth. There is no shield preventing transporters, and no obvious docking bay. You can transport aboard, or float there using EV Suits.

All scenes set aboard the space station feature two Traits, which remain true through the rest of the adventure unless the Player Characters take action to change them. The first Trait is "Vacuum." There is no breathable atmosphere inside the station, necessitating the use of EV suits to survive for any length of time inside the station. The second Trait is "Zero Gravity." The artificial gravity on the station failed long ago, meaning any characters who beam aboard will have to use gravity boots to stay planted on the deck. Alternatively, characters may choose to simply float through the station’s zero-g environment, though this may prove challenging in some situations.

Boots and suit on, Dr. M'Ress stands near the transporters and shakes her head. She'd prefer to stay aboard the shuttle, but fears injuries may need to be treated in a hurry. She grabs her portable kit, and waits

Drake tempers his enthusiasm and dons his suit and boots taking a place next to M'Ress. "This should be ..." he was about to say fun but thought better of it. "Interesting. It will be interesting."
May 27, 2024 5:55 pm
"Yes, interesting to say the least Drake." agrees Jayce.

He dons his suit as well. Not eager to have to be in the suit, but eager to explore the station.

Aurin greeted the others as they approached the Danube's modest transporter, trying to remain cheerful despite being stuffed back into the pressure suit. He stood at the controls, double checking his readings and their coordinates, as well as the interference calculations.

"If I may, Commander," Aurin spoke as the team was combobulating, "I believe we should prioritize engineering components. As excited as I am to examine all the equipment at our disposal here, all things flow from power, and we should know how much we have. And... whether it's set to blow." He glanced towards his tricorder, recalling the destruction of the other shuttle.

He fastened his gloves back into place, then buttoned his helmet with a few twists. "Ready to energize on your command, sir."
May 28, 2024 3:15 pm
Set to blow?

Drake should have thought of that possibility and the thought of it was anything but reassuring as they prepared to transport from the safety of their ship into the unknown of the other.

Cole carefully weighed the options, gazing through narrowed eyes at the sensor readings as he considered the crew's words. Mistrustful of their counterparts motives he would have preferred to have 'all hands on deck' but with the instability of the asteroid field he did not trust leaving the Raven without her pilot. With a sigh, fingers pinching the bridge of his nose he finally concluded, "Luna, coordinate our beam in point with our allies as I'd prefer to tackle the repairs and survey of the station as a single unit."

He forced a smile meeting his pilot's eyes, "Despite their best efforts I don't necessarily trust that they'll be in a sharing mood should they find something on the station.

"Also be prepared to beam us out at a moment's notice and doubly prepared to fire on the station at my command. I'm assuming the very real possibility that we find something that our counterparts can use in their war with the Borg to devastating effect and their might be a 'disagreement' upon how to best utilize it."

His voice trailed off, once more considering instead bringing the pilot along to have more numbers ...
OOC:
Would like to bring Luna along A)because I'm reluctant to sideline a PC while the rest of us get to participate in the action and B) for Cole's stated concerns over having numbers. So @GM if the asteroids are not particularly active in the area and the ship would be safe on autopilot then I would prefer to have Luna along or if there is another justification that Cole may know that I would not ...

Also my apologies for the delayed response ... busy weekend with the holiday

"I would prefer to go with the away team, I'm trained in extra vehicular operations. The station will shield the Raven from asteroids." Luna argues.
OOC:
I would prefer not to stay behind unless necessary
May 31, 2024 12:17 am
OOC:
Absolutely. Snuggling the Raven up against the stations belly will protect it from the asteroids.

"If my readings are correct, I can provide a landing site near a point of egress where we can anchor the Raven. I think this may be an exterior maintenance hatch. Or at the very least, a piece of hull we can cut through with hand phasers in a pinch." He motioned to a site on the station's exterior.

"I'm sure we can use all hands onboard... getting it up and running is probably work for more than twice our crew. And..." He glanced a little off to the side, almost ashamed it came to mind, "...being belly-up against the station will make an attack both very broadcast by the positioning of the.... attacker, and risky, if... an attacker wanted to take the station intact."
May 31, 2024 11:48 am
Cole nodded, smiling appreciatively at the science officer's cautious stance towards their allies. "Luna. Take is in," he said, his finger tapping the screen on the site identified by Aurin, "Cutting through the hull shouldn't be necessary --- not with the modifications our friends provided to the sensors and transporters.
May 31, 2024 8:57 pm
"At once" Luna steers the Raven to the designated spot for anchorage.
