He tapped the underside of his helmet's visor, desperate to rub his chin. "We could try, but we only have an hour. That's an awfully narrow window to analyze a thing, much less fabricate a working copy. Plugging the scan directly into the replicator... well, let's just say I'd want the Doctor to have her say before anyone put it on. And then there's the question of where to plug it in. We may need to get access to a maintenance space adjacent to the apparatus." He shook his head. "It might be possible, but... well, I would want to see the scans before I made any promises I wasn't prepared to keep."
Aurin shook his head, rubbing harder, as if he could get to his beak through the transparent material by will alone. "However... while bringing the station back online, I did install remote cutoff switches to the main power conduits. If we need to buy time, I could... fluctuate them, simulate a brownout. But if they discover them, we could lose leverage. Or worse, prompt them to act early without consulting us. But it could get us more time to try and seize control of the device. Or, at the very least, to give Jayce the opportunity to unwind the other crew, get them out of crisis mode, so we can negotiate." Aurin gave a bit of a sigh. "I don't suppose we've given up on diplomacy? They might be convinced that the consequences are too dire."
