Before her sudden insight into the situation, Ezmaray's first terrified thought is
RABIES.
Her father had lost two good friends to the disease and had drilled into her the proper protocol upon encountering an aggressive carrier:
Don't run. Back away slowly.
But then, as the other puzzle pieces fall into place, she sees that a different tactic is in order.
This creature was no forest animal. It was intelligent, scheming.... Clearly, it was fierce enough to take down one person alone, else it would not have lured her here, however it was not merely attempting to overpower her, relying instead on deception and the element of surprise to take down its prey. This suggests there was a chance it
could be overcome by brute force in a fair fight, though she'd be better off if she regained the element of surprise. Speed and strength were her allies, but her best chance at surviving this encounter would likely involve rejoining the others, if possible.
Attempting to track her own winding prints back to the others would take too long in this mist, especially if this creature has a keen sense of hearing or smell. She needed to move fast. She needed to lose this creature, pronto.
Reeds. A perennial species of grass. Found in wet areas. Especially known to grow along rivers.
After some quick mental calculations, Ezmaray swiftly and quietly withdraws to make as fast as she can for the river (hopefully!). Her plan: to use the river to hide her scent/tracks and guide her directly back to the bridge.
OOC:
I assume I should make a survival roll here to make sure she goes the right direction to get to the river. Do I 3d6, take the two highest rolls, and add +WIS?
