So, rough news here, my dad passed away very suddenly last night and I'm taking care of everything including my dementia suffering mom.

We've been over the same thing about 20 times in the last two hours.

The days are packed... So having to go do interviews for care homes for my mom. Her dementia is WAY worse than I thought. Going on a tour of 3 homes tomorrow.

Been going through their paperwork tonight. They had planned nothing, did all their bills in person and by cheque. Shoot me now.

First thing, have funeral / cremation / burial all set up as best you can.

We might have SUPER lucked out today, went into a place that's right next to where I live 5 min drive and the 3rd of next month they have a studio suite opening up. It's F'ing tiny BUT it's a place. Now all she has to do is pass a competency test to make sure she's not completely bats. Many retirement / care homes have YEARS waiting lists so yeah kind of have that lined up as best you can. Take them around and let them choose what they liked based upon their budget.

Hopefully their financial documents are all in order, or all in an order you understand should you suddenly be thrust in to the roll of caregiver. My parents doc's are kind of organized but there's like life insurance documents from all over the bloody place that my or may not still be valid. Their retirement plan documents are all over as well, I mean multiple folders dealing with multiple accounts all over the frigging place.

Huh, I'm not sure how to resolve this. Brother Irwin's not used to a fight, so I went with Defy Danger for him to make himself go through with it. Rolling for damage directly feels off though without Hack 'n Slash or Volley being triggered.

@testlum So the move is less about the feeling and more about the action. I'd say, though, that if we need a move for doing something we aren't used to / don't want to do / don't have the stomach for, it should be more akin to Forge Ahead, which is triggered when you push on despite powerful opposition from the elements. In this case, let's try something like:

Dig Deep
When you force yourself to act in a way that you're not comfortable, roll +Iron.
-- **10+** You knuckle down and manage to carry out the task.
-- **7-9** Choose 1:
---- You do it, but it makes you sick/weak/dizzy/etc.
---- You freeze for a moment before you do it and put someone else in danger.

I'm open to either inventing a new move or sticking to Hack n' Slash, whichever's more convenient for you. Ah, you already came up with it ^^

Also, I wonder about the flow. In my head, it would typically lead right into another move (like Hack n' Slash here), so maybe it could add +1 forward on 7+? I think rolling twice is still mathematically worse so you wouldn't Dig Deep -> Move unless necessary.

I think having this move may come in handy later too. So let's try it and see what happens. For your roll I'll leave it up to you, either keep the base roll and add Iron or reroll.

We can go with swapping Heart for Iron here then, which would still be a 7. Let's see what happens.

@Falconloft when you say +1 Iron or -1 Edge, is it to the score or the final modifier?

+1 to any edge rolls. Probably should have said take +1 forward on Iron rolls, but I was drawing a blank at the time.

Hmm, +1 forward makes me think it's a resource that's burnt though, not a lasting status.
