Krisanna stretches muscles tired and a bit sore from the day's trek. "I'm with Browyn on this one. Getting some rest and beginning our explorations with a full day ahead of us seems like the smart choice. But I do think we should use the remaining light to find as defensible a location as we can. Who knows what may come crawling out after dark looking for tasty snacks?"

She takes a moment to scan the surroundings trying to see if anything jumps out at her immediately as a good site for the camp.

OOC:
Make camp it is!

Browyn started to look for a place suitable enough to make a camp. He needed a good place with enough opening to keep better watch and pitch a tent. Some firewood and stones would be great for the campfire.

OOC: I am guessing we will be using the tent, so I will take a boon on my bushcraft roll.

Felskrudd tries to stay out of the way as everyone readies the camp. He is used to having servants doing all this for him, and is woefully unprepared for roughing it in the wilderness. To make up for it though, he offers to keep watch during the middle shift, and be the one to get his beauty sleep interrupted.

OOC:
I was going to offer to assist Browyn, but I think he's got it well in hand ;)

Browyn expertly sets up the tent and the camp so you can get the rest you need before exploring the Riddermound.
OOC:
Ok I need to know how you are going to spend the two shifts remaining for the day. Remember you need one shift of sleep not to be tired the next day/ I will assume after this that what you do here will stay the same unless specifically stated you are doing something different.

"I can catch some shut-eye now, then take the late-night shift," Lothar offers once the camp is set up.
OOC:
Rest during that first shift, on-watch during the second.

You all settle in for the night taking turns on watch. The sky is dark as the constant mist not only filters the light during the day but the stars and moon at night. Dark shadows are formed as the night goes on. Though the night passes peacefully, throughout the night you hear sounds that you do not recognize and creates an creepy feeling as you listen to them during the night. Finally daylight again breaks through as morning arrives and you get up to prepare for your first exploration of the vale.

OOC:
If someone want to do something before exploring let me know but I am moving us to the mound.
[ +- ] map
As you begin to search you find a hill crowned by tall standing stones rising in a glade in the middle of the forest. the place is strangely quite. However, you notice a faint but ominous odor - a putrid stench like that of rotten vegetables.

Browyn also notices that there are footprints in the grass of the hill.

Leaving his sleeping fur bundled and hidden beneath a tree, Lothar sets off for the mound with the others. His broadsword and shield are out as they approach, and he makes a face at the stench.

"Uuf! Smell that?" he asked quietly, warily. "Worse than dragon shit! What is that?"
May 2, 2024 10:43 am
"That's spoiled produce," Felskrudd says with a frown. "Hard to sell once it starts smelling like that... Hard... But not impossible."
May 2, 2024 5:35 pm
Browyn was ready to proceed into dungeon delving after a good night rest. He salvaged whatever he could from the campsite and then proceeded to pack everything up. Once he was ready he moved out towards the surrounding hill where the party intended to move.

When he noticed the tracks in the grass of the glade, he crouched down trying to identify what sort of creature made these tracks. His eyes also followed the tracks, trying to find where it went.

OOC: I am guessing that after the rest in the town, I have cured the condition that I previously had? Also, am rolling beastlore to identify the tracks.

The tracks are somewhat confusing as there are many of them overlapping but finally you can tell they head deeper into the words. They do lead at the mound to a few piles of dung. You can see two different types but cannot make out what type of creature they are but it is the source of the nasty smell.
OOC:
yes everyone getting rest the last two days have cured any conditions the characters had.

OOC:
Should we remove one day of rations, I presume?
May 3, 2024 8:49 am
"Don't think even I could sell that," Felskrudd mutters looking at the dung piles. He turns his attention to the group. "Can any of you tell if it's fresh? Should we be worried about whatever made those being around still?""

"Dwarf shit, then," Lothar says with a grin, grabbing a branch or stone from the ground that he intends to use to investigate one of the dung piles…

"Ah the glory of the adventuring life," Krisanna murmurs with a wry smirk, keeping a nostril waft away from the piles. Though she jests, her eyes continue to warily scan their surroundings for signs of danger or poop culprits.

[ooc]I am keeping track of the rations Elarria has bought if they are about to run out I will let you know./ooc]

After examining the area it seems that those who used the area as a latrine probably moved on. Still you remain wary and have the mound to contend with.

Finding nothing but shit in the... shit... Lothar gestures to the mound itself. "Right -- let's find the way in."
OOC:
Sorry if I missed it, but what kind of dung do we think this is? Is it from a large animal or beast?

Felskrudd moves to the middle of the clearing. He tries to knock on the rocky part in the middle with a rock to see if it hollow underneath.
