Winona waits until it's through, then says, "I slay undead. You've been warned." She bunches, ready to fight, but it's helpfulness has given her pause so she doesn't just attack. She waits until it flinches and then attacks.

The ghoul flinches away from Winona and her trident shoots forward, impaling the creature. It looks up in surprise before falling to the ground, overcome by a combination of its burns and the trident to the chest.

You've made your god proud slaying such a foe. Perf says this with as much conviction as possible. So who wants to lead the way through to this fire monster?

Jathus raises an eyebrow, "I will follow the ever-efficient Winona. Though I worry what odds we have for slaying a foe that may be made of fire. Perhaps we explore elsewhere and return with sufficient preparation for this creature?"

"As I said, Jathus will follow Win, into the flames of the Abyss, or elsewhere. Let us go and see what this creature is. After all, it cannot be safe to keep active beneath the town, yes?" He follows Winona close behind.

Moving up, you peer through a crack in the wall. A fire burns within a seven-pointed star carved in the ceiling, casting light that fills the area with a flickering radiance. Two wooden doors sit in the southwest corner of the room, while to the east, a low stone altar made of marble sits before a crack in the wall. The top of the altar holds a silver bowl with a slender-bladed knife balanced atop the bowl’s rim, its point aimed toward the west.
A goat-headed demon with glowing red eyes and flaming hooves stands in the center of the room. Measuring only about 4 feet in height, it turns to glare at you, speaking several words in Abyssal, "Leave now unless you are here with instructions from Abraxas about the Flume's secret!". Winona understands only a single word: Abraxas, the name of a demon lord. She also recognizes the creature as a Brimorak, a fire demon born from the soul of an arsonist.

Jathus takes a breath and looks to Win. Seeing a look of recognition in her face, he raises an eyebrow. "Any idea what this thing is about, Win?"

Jathus puts on a false frown and looks to the demon. "You'd best answer the woman," he says, "she doesn't play nicely when she gets like this."

The brimorak laughs, "I do not fear you weak mortals," it says in common, cackling, then waves its hand dismissively at you, "Leave before I decide to melt the flesh from your bones."
