Chapter 2: Winnowing Reach

"Please, lead us there."

Kenna leads the group to the southern part of town and to the Wranger's Roost.

The tavern is run by an older gallus-stork who runs the place with an smile to all the customers. She will offer a room to the group for 5copper a room. Kenna will also offer the group a round of drinks before bed.

Charun accepts the drink and gets a good meal and room for the night. He will spend some time cleaning his armor before retiring for the night

Leif spent the evening making small talk with Kenna, getting a better measure of her, and mainly enjoying a warm meal and drink before he retired to bed.

Anyone who takes the drink from Kenna and talk to her realize she is a smart and compassionate person. She would tell you the story about how she studied slimes all her life and how a lot of people underestimate her because her uncle is the Magistrate and they just think she got her position due to nepotism.

She dislikes a lot of her uncle's politics and the way he runs the town and feels like it is her job to stick up to him sometimes.

Late in the evening you would see that Eliza hasn't left town yet when she checks into the Inn herself. If asked Eliza would say "business was good"

Playing cards, dice, rat-race, throwing knives, speed drinking and everything else she can use her quick paws earning some coins, Sherry only gets mildly hammered doing so, before falling onto her bed. Of course she immediately starts snorring satiesfied and wouldn't wake up until the morning if there is no earthquake or something similar dramatic.

She sits with Kenna trying to learn as much as she can from the researcher.

As you wake up the next morning you would find Kenna up early and knocking at your day extra early in the morning.

She will lead you to the edge of the town and advise that the hermit lives a few miles away through this dense forest but that she knows which ways to go through

Also an annoyingly cheerful and energetic morning person, Charun rises, performs his drills and devotions, and joins the rest as they eat then set out. As they head to the hermit's hut he asks Kenna, what can you tell us of the hermit. Do you know her name? What of her family? Is she from here or did she move here? How long has she been here? Are there any who still associate with her regularly that we can talk to? Any other details about her and her history with the town might help.

Walking admitst the others, Sherry chats with everyone that is or isn't interested and hums a cherful melodie in between.

Leif was not a morning creature, and the chatter of the others before he’d had his tea and toast irritated him. Still, when Charun raised his smattering of questions, Leif’s ears perked up, and he listened in.

Not much is known about her...but I suspect that is the problem. She is a hedge, which I suspect is part of the reason there is some prejudice against her among some of the town leadership, and she wields magic. She has been around for many years but hasn't really come to town much until recently. She has been viewed going to the apothacary and based on the reports, she tries to acquire many rare goods that aren't available or the shop owner has no knowledge of.

Scylla wakes early and takes in her feeling of the key line. When done with that she sits and listens more to Kenna

"That's certainly not a crime," Leif chimed in. "I do hope you're right, and she proves innocent. We could do with more goodness and a lot less hatred, ignorance, and fear."

Eager to meet this person, Sherry whistles a fine tune and stays with her companions.
