Chapter 2: Winnowing Reach
Skillfully catching the orb, the mapach begins immediately to examine the orb. What colour? How does it look? What texture? Does anything happen when you shake it? Smell it?! Does it look valuable? If she concentrates does it fell special?

Looking up for a second, Sherry asks Kenna: "So do you know what happened to the slimes? Why are they so aggressive?" Maybe they should take samples or such like, because that's what people in these fields of study like to do in her mind.

Following the others outside, the slime-slaying-scimitar-slasher shrugs her shoulders. She can see quiet well in the dark and can hide even better at nighttime. But the others may not, so Sherry decides to follow what ever seems the most comfortable for the rest of her comrades.

Right up this way is a clearing with some drier land, I have camped up here before. The party and Kenna hike out a distance from the caverns and find the camp.

Kenna answers any questions she is asked regarding the slime and her research.

To Sherry Around here they are usually pretty aggressive if you get within about 60ft of them. If you didn't know, they are actually blind creatures. So if you get too close, they automatically try and attack thinking you might be food.

The orb is a necklace of what appears to be a Nest being clutched by a bird talon hand. It would appear to be magical of some kind. It can be identified during a long/short rest or by casting identify.

I think we are all good for a rest? your choice long or short but night has fallen

Still intrigued by the newfound orb, Sherry walzes over to Scylla and asks: "Could you please take a look at this for me - a bit later?" and dangles it from its band.

She’s fascinated by the orb and says, "Yes, of course. Somewhere with fewer acid spewing slimes would assuredly be preferable."

She follows everyone out still trying to get as much research from the slime researcher that she can.

Night passes without incident and the sun begins to shine on the group. You find that the clearing you are in his a raised hill that is on a clearing, if you look closely you can see your footprints still in the dirt surrounding you.

Kenna gets up earlier than most in her position and seems happy and gleeful at the travel ahead.

After waking Charun performs his morning devotions and drills before eating and then prepares to set out. Once all of that is done he will approach Sherry
Sherry, do you have plans for that item you aquired? I have to say it is very intersting to me. Should you ever be willing to part with it I will endever to secure you a fair traide for it. Just, please talk with me before selling it otr trading it to another. Charun is quite ernest in his interst as the items seems well suited for use by birdfolk but understands to the victor go the spoils.

A lot of yawning, strechting, smacking and eye rubbing Sherry starts to clean her fur and equippment until she fells ready to start the day. While munching on the rest of her gathered food she listens with raised eyebrows to Charun and answers with a full mouth: "Sure will do." The orb seems to be a good thing for someone on the road, but the mapach plans to be more city based in the coming month. Maybe a satisfying deal for both sides can be struck.

Finishing her meal, Sherry stands up and waits for the rest of the team to get back on the road.

A good night's sleep was just what Leif needed. He felt refreshed, his performance in last night's battle now a motivation to improve his skills. He took time that morning to speak with their guest, apologizing for his brusque manner the night before, and making small talk and encouraging her with her research.

After a breakfast of ration, Leif checked on his bow and arrows, and was ready to set out once more.

I haven't had a chance to level up to 2 yet, but there's no new spells anyway, so we can move on without issue.

As they start back up on the road, they notice the smoke in the horizon, those with good senses of direction know that it is coming from the direction that Ashburrow is. The fire obviously still raging. A sense of "there is still more to do" comes down upon the group.

However the trip is overall uneventful and the group arrives back at Winnowing Reach, shortly after lunchtime.

She spends time focusing on the prevailing area, her books have told her how to do this but, attuning to a key line has, thus far ,been beyond her. Even so, this evening, she finally manages it. The thrum of the local ley line fills her soul and she finally feels the power resonating within.

Come morning her eyes glow with ley line power.

Scylla becomes a ley line wizard. I’ll need to know what the local line is attuned to.

Leif was disheartened at the sight of smoke coming from the direction of Ashburrow, but there's only so much they can do and focus on. He felt awful about it, but his own village needed help, and this was already costing them precious time as it was. Still...

Being back at Winnowing Reach, Leif motioned to Kenna and the others to head towards the Magistrate's Office and meet up with Walden Krane again.

Anxious to be on their way Charun agrees with Leif and heads to speak with Walden and get the promised letter. Enough time has been wasted, who knows how far the Scorched Grove has expanded

Not in the mood to see those stinking paddlers again, Sherry decides to tag along with Charun and the rest. Maybe her impatience with these lazy and unworldly bird people would help speed things along a bit.
