Chapter 2: Winnowing Reach

Not stopping in her movement, Sherry swishes to the side and uses the distraction, that Charun offers through his mere presence, to cut at the remaining slime. A potpourri of different coloured fluids on her keen blades, let the mapach hope, that this stuff isn't to caustic for the metal of her weapons. "They should have given us cheap blades, for this job." the white furred girl grumbles more to herself as she pivoets on the ball of her foot for her next strike.

With the single slime left, Leif let fly another arrow

She slowly gets up as Charun heals her. "Ow, thank you Charun. Oh goodness there’s one right there!" Her wand slips into her paw and she sends a firebolt down range at the last slime.

With a flurry of strikes, arrows and a firebolt for good measure the last slime dissipates into the ground and the cavern is suddenly calm.

The corvum can be seen poking her head from behind a rock in the direction you came, quietly standing there

The last slime dissipated, and Leif stirred up a flurry of curses. Amateur amateur amateur! He also chided himself mentally. Not wanting to scare off the corvum, Leif walked over to pick up what arrows he could recover to buy himself time to calm down.

Checking his comrades at arms first Charun then turn to the stranger.

Uncle Walden sent you? I told him i could handle myself in my letter... she then looks at Scylla wait you are the vulpin i met on the road.

She furrows her brow a little bit then sighs...i guess i do owe you my thanks. Name is Kenna and yes I am Winnowings Reach primary slime researcher. My Uncle seems to have sent you to help me, but jokes on him i got what i needed by myself.

The young corvum then tosses a thin vile in the air and catches it. Some unknown liquid inside.

Standing between all the dissolving slimes, Sherry performs a huge jump to get out of this zone. Somewhere dry and not stinking. Much better.

Cleaning her scimitars with a tattered rag, she takes a extensive look at Charun who had come to her aid and helped her dispatch of those oozes. Nasty bunch that they are. For an birdfolk-person this behaviour seems rather untypical to her. As a result she gifts him with a shy smile and a nod of appreciation as a thanks for his helping hand in this brief but brutal fight.

Sheading her now clean blades, she waltzes over to Kenna and greets her with the words: "And what might that be?" looking curious at the spinning vial.

She looks over at Kenna and her mind has gone blank. "Did we? Sorry, I had abrupt loss of consciousness due to external acid trauma."

She does move over and look at the bottle even and sidles over asking, "Can I get your notes on the slimes in this cave? Maybe copy what you've gotten just so I can add to it if necessary, in the future?"

Leif harrumphs the way he didn't when he hadn't eaten in a while and his mother would say he was 'hangry'. "Let's be about before more come by, we can talk on the way."

I'm with Life, we should leave while we can. . Charun states as he returns his weapons. Glancing at the slain ooze then to the scholar and he asks Is there any value on trying to gather their remains?

"Or someone else to safe in this mines?" Sherry asks completely selfless. On a rescue mission there maybe are thankful people be found that express there gratitude with ringing coins.

I am here alone...to my knowledge but you guys are right. We should probably get out of here. As for the remains, I have what I need from them but what is this... Kenna picks up the orb that fell out of the Shifting slime and examines it a little.

Looks to be something that this sucker ate awhile back, maybe from some other adventurer or researcher....Here, you took it down. You have it. And she hands the orb to Sherry.

Kenna then perks up and turns to the exit. Lets go, best not wait for more of them to slink out of nowhere And she heads out the cave. Talking the whole time about how the shifting slime was the first she has seen and all the notes she gathered about it. She gives details about how the vial she had was in fact a vial of the shifting slime ooze she was planning to research to see if she can find something useful for.

As you get to the entrance of the cave outside is dark, night has descended upon the swamp.

Leif didn't like their chances traveling in the dark. The cave could be a place to shelter, or it could have a lot more slimes. "Travel a bit out to put some distance and set up camp?" He asked the others.

Sounds good. I don't really feel like sleeping where those things might creep up on me. But traveling through a swamp at night sounds risky.
