Thanks for the update! I'll port it over to the Thread. I think a drop-down for equipment might be needed too... I'll add that to the template.

I'll give Fren a few more hours to chime in, than I'll move things along one way if the other. I have a pretty good idea what he wanted to do.

Here's my character card. I'm not sure if my armor and accessory have any specific stats so I left those fields empty.

The idea is to get some aggro on me and then do an AoE heal spell. Let's hope it will work.

That's one of the things I've noticed with Monk, several of my neatest abilities require that I already have high agro to use.

If I Dodge to set-up Shadowless Kick, I have to already have the agro or its a 'wasted' turn because if they don't swing at me, I don't swing back and didn't defend anyone.

Shadowless Kick triggers when a Monk takes the Dodge Action. You do have to have Aggro to be THE main target but sometimes a monster will try to hit what it can rather than waste an opportunity. Monks are usually up in a monster's face and are often a target of opportunity even if they're not the highest Aggro Score.

Warriors do have a lot of Aggro-reliant abilities, tho. That's their lot in life... You just have to race the Magic Users for highest Aggro Score. Those Magic Users, however, can't take the heat.

Not sure if I get a +1 from the custom weapon skill or bard style, but I missed by 2 from the nat.8.

EDIT - it seems I reduce aggro by 2 when I attack, which is really not helpful to Piphany. (Though not as not-helpful as missing!)

Given that the Die Roller is being very fickle, here's a couple of options. This battle might be a good time to introduce the mechanics that allow you to manipulate the Die results:
[ +- ] Invoking Traits
[ +- ] Invoking Bonds

I’m a point short of invoking a bond. Theme could work… and I only want to reroll the d6 (which was a nat.1).

@witchdoctor Do I reroll in a new post? (And should I reroll it "d6+7"? (My d10 roll was a 7.))

You could roll it that way, yes. Editing the original post to include the re-rolls would be fine.
Grace should have (4) Fabula Points. Invoking a Bond or a Trait should cost only (1) Point.

Ha! I needed to invoke both. The reroll pushed me to 9!

I invoked my bond with Grace to add +1 to my roll and hit!

Can I take the guard action to protect Piphany? I have the general skill Athletics, if that can help me get to her faster.

That'd because good call normally but the way the Initiative falls, Calamity acts after the Triffid's attack on Piphany. She'd have to have had her Action before it acted. Piphany is already wrapped up in the vines from the Triffid's Entangle Ability.
>>>Guard does last until Calamity's next turn so if she uses it in the future, the action would cover into the following turn until she acts again.

Since Calamity does have Athletics, she could use an Objective Action on her turn and try to free Piphany. It'd be an Opposed Roll between her and the Triffid but she'd probably get some help from some of the others who haven't gone yet. That might add to her Total!

Ah sorry, another question. if I take the sword Guy is offering, is there anything I should be aware of when I use it besides the fact that it'll switch me from ranged to melee? What are the attributes required for a sword attack?
Aug 1, 2024 1:55 pm
(Might & Agility+1) is the usual default Attack Roll. Damage is standard for a sword [HR]+6
Aug 1, 2024 2:16 pm
Uh... that was a horrible roll. I'll invoke my identity "Unassuming Fluffy Defender" to reroll both dice.
Aug 1, 2024 9:17 pm
The Die Roller has been super harsh this turn!
Aug 1, 2024 11:45 pm
Absolutely. I probably should have invoked my newbie identity to reroll myself, I forgot I could do that.

There's still time if you choose to do so. I'll be posting later tonight so if you want to use your chance to use a Fabula Point & post an IC reason for doing so, feel free!
