Chapter 0: Calm at Sea

May 9, 2024 8:15 pm
The party has been summoned by King Alexandros and has been given their quest. Each party member is given 3 potions of greater healing, which provide 20 healing when consumed with an action, and 1 potion of stone to flesh, which reverses petrification to a creature that still has its head when poured over the head. The king provides one of his ships and a crew to man it. It will take a week to arrive near the island of Hythonia, known as the island of stone. All but the last days are uneventful, likely due to most monsters sensing the strength onboard and avoiding the group.
OOC:
Use this thread to roleplay amongst each other. This is optional. on Monday, I will post Chapter 1, which is when something bad happens. Unless someone says something to a crew member or the captain, this is mostly just for you all to talk to each other in character. Remember, you all know each other already and have fought together.

As smirking Omeros looked out over the water, he said to Aurora, "I was half-expecting a riotous, wind-dark sea but your goddess has blessed us with smooth passage. Do you think the lack of even a single kraken tentacle slapping the keel is cause for concern? We've seen neither harpy nor siren. Are the brutes of the sea and air afraid of us or afraid of interrupting our destiny ashore?"

While our PCs know each other we don't know them, may I ask everyone do a really short intro
Isaiah - an older druid as usually is taking his time to preaching ship crew and sleeping the day, watching stars the night.
He have saved party from falling into an ambush and otherwise shown the right way, but in battle he is slow and considerate. Some say he is cruel and enjoy seeing enemy realizing they are doomed, others believe he simply enjoy watching battle and want to prolong it. Point is - he would rather slow down the battle than make it fast win

Omerous, my lady is kind today, but she doesn't take mockery likely. There is no reasons to temp the faits.
Be please with what you have.

Aurora stands with a shortbow and a read cloak that seams to be cut into large ribbons. She carries no other weapons.

Glancing back to Omeros from where he stood at the bow of the ship, watching the island slowly grow larger, Kadmos paused writing in his book.

"Thassa is powerful but wise. She would not send creatures to be laid low in the name of Iroas when we are on a quest from the King himself. She would not wish to be on the wrong side of history, as a God who sought to prevent the rescue of the princess."

With that, Kadmos looks back to the island and resumes writing. He adds, "The isle is largely unknown. I intend to correct that problem, and provide actual information regarding it. Isaiah, I will need your expert input when the time comes."

Chironides paces the ship impatiently, "I will be happy to simply stand upon firm ground again."

Kelnes takes a deep breathe of the fresh sea air as he kneels next to a dog beside him. He tuffles his fur gently.

Kelnes is slender but athletic. He his clothes appear to be casual Traveler's clothes but you can see that underneath his shift his a Bronze skin tight layer of metal. His shield almost coral like in its appearance

The Sea is kind to us today. Though I suspectit wont last as we approach, you should enjoy this Chironides it might be the last bit of respite we have for awhile.
OOC:
starting the day with my find steed, mastiff ready. If that is ok. Went for mastiff as it seems more practical than a warhorse on a boat.

There should be plenty of time during these 6 days at sea to cast any spell you want. Unless you spent all your gold, material components should be easy enough to come by before you set off.

Omeros was tall for a satyr, with tan skin, brown fur, and a broad smile. The anxious edge he felt kept him in his favourite studded leather armour with his shield on his back, plus two silver daggers and a silver rapier on his hip. There was no sign of his most prized weapon, but his companions knew it merely awaited its master's call.

"I meant no disrespect to your goddess, Aurora. I merely get a bit anxious when Fate throws calm at me. It leaves me awaiting the storm. And we will find out more than we want to on that island, Kadmos, for you know the way to knowledge is often through pain."

The satyr's hooves click-clopped on the deck as he walked to Chironides, and his purple cloak fluttered in the salty wind.

"We will be there soon enough, old friend. Let us hope Fate plans for the ground to stay under our hooves and not over our heads."

We mortals tend not to believe in our own strength and believe some petty gods are wasting their effort to go guide us through life routine.
Isaiah note to the crew members if any happen to hear conversation about reasons of sea being calm.

To Kadmos Isaiah responds You wouldn't understand I'm not operating with facts, would you? Stars, omens - they talk to me like human talk to you, yet they only share an opinion.
Let's take our party for an instance - only two of you are natural born heroes. Rest of the party are Nyxborn. That says a lot to me...
Kadmos, Kelnes you will make your god proud of you whatever the facts are. Kruphix will oversee, but the job is our to do

"Whatever your opinion," says the Nyxborn Centaur "Know this for fact. For the gods to have sent us to aid you mortals means that either you or the sucess of your quest is important to them."
