"Well, at least if we have trouble finding our way back out we know we won't go thirsty."
Oct 30, 2024 3:20 am
Trig bats her eyelashes in what she imagines is a fetching way and mimes using a key/lockpicks to unlock a door. Then she flounces over to the fourth door and tries that. On the way, she has to adjust her hat, as her movements nearly cause Koko the crab to fall from her head.
Oct 30, 2024 3:28 am
Crow begins once more to pick the lock. Carefully quietly. Trying to keep his composure at what was becoming a ridiculous situation.

"Imagine we are just haplessly breaking into an Inn's wine cellar."

Rolls

Disable Device (Dex) - (1d20+10)

(6) + 10 = 16

Try again - (1d20+10)

(19) + 10 = 29

The door opens to reveal, as expected, another storeroom. This one is stacked haphazardly with several crates.
Oct 30, 2024 5:42 pm
"Curious."

Crow pokes his head into the messy store. Then draws his rapier. "One of these is not like the others."
Oct 31, 2024 12:14 am
"I was thinking the same, " Tom says to Crow. "This has to be storage for some local tavern or hall?"

He'll follow Crow forward looking to confirm that nothing is taking cover behind the crates before inspecting their contents

OOC:
Is the fourth door also locked? Does the passage continue west past the fourth door?
Oct 31, 2024 4:36 pm
OOC:
The fourth door is also locked and the passage deadends after the fourth door.
Oct 31, 2024 4:40 pm
Looking over the room, you find no evidence of anyone or anything present, beyond a few normal-sized rats. It appears as though the crates contain dried rations.
Nov 2, 2024 12:39 am
Crow helps himself to some jerky and dried mushrooms.

He pokes around the room slowly taking care. "Let's give this room a thorough search."

Rolls

Perception (Wis) - (1d20+4)

(6) + 4 = 10

Nov 2, 2024 6:57 pm
Trig, curious what might be of such interest in the third room, helps with the search.

Perception (WIS) - (1d20-1)

(17) - 1 = 16

An exhaustive search turns up nothing but the crates of rations. Apparently, whoever was in charge of stacking them in here just did a half-assed job.
Nov 3, 2024 3:57 am
Crow's sigh turns into a growl of frustration. "We couldn't just find something to poison the wine and call it a day?" He was only half joking.

Crow pilfurs as many rations as he could fit in his waistpouch. While it was rare that anyone starved in Waterdeep, the Chondathan youth knew they would be better served in his possession. "There are enough supplies here to work a tavern... but what if this is a supply for an army?"
Nov 3, 2024 8:44 pm
Tarna
"A valid concern," Tarna says. "If this is indeed a thieves' lair and not just the storage place for a tavern, this may indicate a much larger threat than we suspected."
Nov 4, 2024 5:03 pm
"So...do we check this last locked room, or do we continue onward?" Trig follows Crow's example and pilfers some rations.
Nov 4, 2024 11:45 pm
"That was my concern as well. I was expecting these tunnels would be a way for our foes to sneak back and forth beneath the city undetected. If it's an active barracks for dozens, we're going to need reinforcements. We can scout a bit further, but we should be careful."

Tom will grab his share of rations and pocket anything that looks handy for making his extracts.

Crow makes his way over to the final room and tries his hand at the lock.

Rolls

Disable Device (Dex) - (1d20+10)

The last door is stubborn but eventually gives egress. Beyond is a storeroom, about the same size as the others (15' square). Three of the walls are lined with shelves upon which are a variety of tools; hammers, boxes of nails, crowbars, and a selection of thieves' tools.
Nov 5, 2024 8:08 pm
"Definitely not a tavern..." Crow begins to check for better tools, tension wrenches, picks, probes, calipers, and shears. Anything better than his he replaces. Elsewise he starts to collect them as he knows how expensive such tools are.
Nov 6, 2024 2:03 pm
"Dozens..." Trig murmurs thoughtfully. "This does seem like a lot of supplies. But, as Tom said a few minutes ago, we're not in any more danger than when we started. Let's keep going, Tarna."
OOC:
How much in-game time has passed since we tied up the unconscious woman in the other room?
