"Yes, let's keep moving before someone runs out of ale or needs a hammer and some nails. "
Nov 7, 2024 1:50 am
Crow took his shelter in the shadows and moved deeper within the bowels of the complex.

Rolls

Stealth (Dex) - (1d20+10)

(15) + 10 = 25

Having moved back into the main north-south passageway, Trig looks around curiously as Crow vanishes. She shrugs, and walks the three steps (five feet) to the next door to the north and opens it. "I wonder where he went...?" She peers curiously behind the door.

Moving back down the hallway, your quartet returns to the main corridor. The corridor continues to the north, but a door on the east wall opens onto another, east-west corridor that intersects this one. To the north, about 20 feet further, the corridor turns to the east and a curtain covers the north wall.
Nov 14, 2024 6:27 am
Overcome with curiosity, Trig sneaks up to the northern wall to peek behind the curtain.

Rolls

Stealth (if needed) - (1d20+4)

(19) + 4 = 23

Tom frowns, frustrated that Crow is able to disappear from his notice so easily. Perhaps he is not as perceptive as he thought.

He follows along behind Trig. Stopping a few yards back with his bow trained on the curtain in case anything comes charging through after her.

The curtain opens onto a blank wall, but east of the curtain is a short 10-foot wide alcove with a door on the east wall.

WhtKnt says:
The curtain opens onto a blank wall, but east of the curtain is a short 10-foot wide alcove with a door on the east wall.
OOC:
Does that mean that the curtain is on a runner so that it could be drawn east to cover that alcove (ie, it's currently "open")? Or is it just attached the wall where it is?
Nov 18, 2024 12:14 pm
Hmm, kind of odd. The curtain is likely to draw more attention to the wall if one wanted to hide the alcove. So presumably is there to either hide view of this chamber from people in the interior when the door is open (most likely explanation if you don't want people seeing you have an entrance into the sewers in your basement), or is there to initially hide people coming out of the door from view of the hallway. He turns around to see what would have a sight line to the door.

OOC:
Correction: That will teach me to actually read my map before making a post instead of relying on memory.
The curtain opens onto a 10x10 alcove, not a blank wall. Beyond the curtain are shelves with bedding. I have posted a map that should help clarify things.

After a few moments, Trig realizes that her jaw is still hanging open, and she shuts it and looks out of the corners of her eyes to see if anyone else noticed. "That...that's a LOT of bedding! That, along with all the stuff we found before, suggests that this is a HUGE operation!" She shakes her head in disbelief, then faces the others, having regained her composure.
"So, where to, now? East down this passage," she points at the passage heading east (at 13 on the map above), "or east down the one over there?" she points down the hall at the passage that branches off in the same direction (at 17 on the map above).
Nov 22, 2024 2:45 am
"Bedding to me implies the presence of bodies nearby, at least at certain times of day. That might incline me towards the far door instead, but are we looking to avoid conflict at this point or force it? Perhaps we listen at the near door in any case, if there are a lot of people about they may be making enough noise to clue us in. "
Nov 22, 2024 2:21 pm
Trig nods, and adds in a low voice, "That makes sense to me. I'll listen low, one of you listen high?" Trig is very aware of her short stature, but in this case, it might allow two of them to listen at the door at the same time. She gently approaches the door at V13 and listens.
OOC:
Perception check in case it's needed, but if so, it really shouldn't be Trig doing it. I got lucky with a couple of previous rolls, but the penalty to Perception means that she shouldn't generally be the one the group relies upon to perceive things.

Perception - (1d20-1)

(3) - 1 = 2

Crow presses his ear to.door V17.

Rolls

Perception (Wis) - (1d20+4)

(8) + 4 = 12

Neither of you hears anything from beyond the doors.
Nov 23, 2024 7:13 pm
Trig looks up at Crow and shrugs. Then she tries the door; is it locked?
Nov 24, 2024 4:33 am
Trig, your door is locked. Crow's is not.
Nov 24, 2024 5:58 am
Crow finds something to jam his door shut, as they had not raised an alarm he thought it was prudent then he made to the locked door and tried his hand at it.

Rolls

Disable Device (Dex) - (1d20+10)

(17) + 10 = 27

Nov 24, 2024 3:01 pm
The door reveals its secrets to Crow's deft fingers and the lock clicks as it opens. Unfortunately, the door is also barred from the inside, preventing it from being opened.
Nov 24, 2024 8:33 pm
Crow uses his probe to attempt to pry at the seam between the door jambs and see if he can use finesse to lift the bar.
OOC:
not sure what to roll for this, intelligence?
