Between the three of you you manage to free the pod from it mounting points. However you find a bit of trouble as the crystal has created a lattice sheethe around the data, and power cables. You end up moving the pod away and extracting the cables form the wall as much as possible only to find that the crystal has spread the entire length of these cables.

How do you want to remove the crystal to sever the cables connections between the ship and pod?
Energy based tools, Physical tools, chemical, other?

"While sedatives calmed the growth temporarily, I'm not sure they'll work this time. The growth looks to have been accelerated. What do you think, Sam? You think we could cut them out?", Alandra says as she looks at the crystallized wires.
OOC:
Maybe we can cut the couplers futher down the wire past the growth? That's assuming the wires have couplers.

The data and power cables do indeed have connectors but the closest are sealed by the growing crystal. Sam figures she can likely trace and break the connections of the far side then cut or rip out the sections still attached to the pod.

The sedatives worked on the captain. At this time you have not had any success controlling the crystal other that total isolation from its spores. But you have not tried acting on its larger structures directly.

I am just going to move thing along, I am not always certain how much players want to work through things but this is where you would likely have ended up anyhow . . .

Let me know if you would preferer to move past small issue that will eventually be overcome or if you want to walk through those scenes/actions.
After a bit more effort you manage to free the cryo pod form the ship. As you do you notice that the crystals on the pod seem to retract while those in the captain's quarters actually spread faster for a minute slightly alarming you. However once they slow down they actually look to go dormant but a quick check by Alandra shows that the inflow from the rest of the ship to the captains quarters also stops. However as most of the crystal has already moved into the captains quarters you seal them tight after ensuring you will have external controls and move the captains pod into the cargo area.

In the moons reduced gravity, and with the ships artificial gravity temporarily disabled, you quickly move the pod outside the ship and set it to revive him. After finalizing the arrangements you start the process as you monitor him remotely. Let me know your arrangements. Pod location, anyone near it, does the ship stay on the moon or go back to orbit, etc...

As the sedative is stopped the captains vitals quickly raise though not quite to full active levels normal for a human except his neural activity which is actually much higher than normal. The ship is linked to the pod so you can call and are certain he will hear but you will be unable to activate the microphone or cameras remotely as the circuits that control those functions had already been covered by the crystals growth.

Alandra stands about about 2 feet away from the pod monitoring the Captain's vitals. She breathes heavy in her E.V. suit as the Captain begins to wake up.

She puts her reduced weight on her back foot in case something catastrophic happens, but her training won't let her leave the pods side.

"The Captain's waking up.", she says over the coms through static bursts.
OOC:
I like moving things along if it's not a critical situation.

What are our space suits like? Are they like Star Trek space suits or a little more low tech, like Aliens?

OOC:
Suits can be anywhere between startrek and starwars or similar. Krom's is tactical so he doesn't need to worry about damage etc and has better mag boots and minor nav boosters for 0g in space. The rest of you have tough/durable material and moderate mag boots but that's about it. For a true space walk you would need a pack, which the ship has. Reasonable?

As a Hologram, do I even need a EV suit? I am good with moving things along as well.
Avro will monitor the situation from the ship.

Stinger knows he is an excellent pilot, but a very poor engineer, so he makes sure all connections between the pod (and whatever other instruments around it) are not cable, meaning radio frequency, wifi-tipe, or others... but not actual cables, so the crystals can't climb back. And leaves the rest of the preparation of the pod to the experts.

Then he makes sure the sip is landed on a safe distance from the pod. Afterwards, he goes back to the ship's bridge and prepare to take off if required. Finally, he stays there ready to pilot when needed, following all conversations with the rest of the team by comms.
Everyone, please be careful, it is highly probable that the captains voice will not really be his, but that of the crystal-virus thing. Do not approach near than what you truly feel safe.

The book says Autoborg, so CZ530, do not need to breath but nothing on hologram. So i am ruling that the lack of atmosphere messes up your projection. Your hologram core can survive longer but it's not fully hardened agrarian harsh environs. You can pick that up as a trait.

We've played enough I think is fine for original players to add/rediscover their 3rd trait as appropriate in story. Avro and CZ530 will get background in a bit (after the captain scene) then trait after that

Sensors reveal the captain is conscious and will hear communications

Totally reasonable. Ok! Third trait!
"Captain's awake. Captain, can you hear me?", Alandra says as she steps away from the pod.

Yes . . I hear . . Why . . Remove from Ship?
The voice of the captain is halting and sluggish at first but begins smoothing out as he speaks
Jul 30, 2024 2:54 am
Well, the ship has been damaged and well infected with all sorts of viruses in the computer systems. I had to clear that out with no small effort. Your cabin was also highly infected so much that we needed to move the effected areas out of the ship just in case for the safety of the ship. So for your safety and the ships we moved you. So unless you can explain the issues with your cabin and life support we cannot take that risk. she says through the communicator.

There is a pause before a response comes back. I remember . . The attack. Suspected Vraspe, she sabotaged the ship. .

Ship not infected. Ship is growing. Artifact alive. Infection . . artifact spores. Not strong.
Needs grow.
Jul 30, 2024 12:28 pm
"Why does the artifact need to grow Captain?", Alandra says through coms and thinks, "Spores, not a virus but a fungus or mold. Albiet a very strange mold. I'll have to adjust calculations for mold and viral structures."
Jul 30, 2024 2:58 pm
Via Coms, The artifact was stolen Captain. Has it reproduced via parthenogenesis? Or is it using you and the ship as a host?

Artifact doorment. Tests . . No I woke it. Spores to help communicate. Spores require host. Artifact Independent.

I . . I am host. Spores need more. Use pod. Not need ship. Spores spread in ship only to find a host. Without me and the pod the spores will continue to spread.

How is the crew. Who remained loyal. Do you know where Vraspe when with the mutineers? What of the pirates? I need to find that artifact. There is so much it can help us with

As the captain talk his word grow stronger and more fluent and he begins asking several questions in rapid succession

Alandra closes her eyes and sighs. After a moment, she composes herself and says, "We are all that's left, Captain. The others took a ship and fled."
