She’d been distracted there for a moment. What by? Something, it wasn’t Pira flexing or anything like that. She hadn’t even had a chance to make a reply to her because the princess had been so distracted. Sun in her eyes?

In any case, she’d fallen and been rolled around, somehow her outfit tore on a shoulder revealing some skin. Then these pottery people were clearly planning terrible violence. Pira leaped to attack and Thundra did as well. Usually this is where she ran some more or pulled out her magic wand. That was it! She had just the spell…

She held her wand high, and recited the ancient words, "Pom, Pom, Power!" Her outfit began to transform in a whirlwind of spackles and pale flesh. Not quite showing anything and yet hinting at it. When the twirl ended she was wearing an extra short white skirt with blue ruffles, a blue kerchief around her back and keeping her decent while a tiny white vest went around her back and ended in her front where it clearly didn’t quite fit. In her hands were two bright pom poms one red and the other green. She shook them as she chanted, "Go Pira, Go Thundra! We’re on the attack! Go Pira, Go Thundra, nothing’s holding you back! You’re green and red together in class! Together we know this pottery you’ll smash! Gooo Team!" An explosion of fireworks went off behind her as she did a flip, into a somersault, then landed into a split holding up the Pom poms and shaking them.

Thundra smashes one Pottíman with such ease she cleaves right through and smashes another! Casanova’s phaser is apparently set to Shatter! (If she checks, it IS set to Stun. She also detects no life readings among the Pottímen, so she’s certain that she isn’t taking a life. Space Commanders tend to know this sort of thing.)

Pira’s fish leap throws a Pottíman off balance, and while Kurumi is staggering a little (probably from the "root" beer), Princess Diamond’s cheers bolster our heroines!

But most of the soldiers are still attacking!!!
OOC:
Three Terra Potta Soldiers are smashed, one is flailing helplessly and getting in the way, five are attacking.

DEFENSIVE ROLLS:
Thundra, Kurumi and Casanova, roll 1D Anti-Hero to avoid taking damage!

TAKE ACTION:
Roll 2D Hero/Sprite to act as you please,

~OR~

Some of you have special actions this round:

Pira and Thundra, roll 3D Hero if you attack to the rhythm of Princess Diamond’s cheers!

• Princess, roll 3D Sprite if you take any action to encourage other teammates.

Thundra grunts as she takes a hit, but it doesn't slow her battle flow. She hacks and slashes in time to the Princess's cheers, embracing the power of rhythm!

Kurumi staggers and clutches her head "Ow! That's why I prefer energy drinks!" she says. She feels a little dizzy but is a root beer a beer made of roots that alcoholic? Anyway, she tries t shrug off the headache.

Upon hearing a sudden cheerleader chant behind her, Pira can't help but twirl around on the head of the clay man so she can look back. She then promptly does a double take in astonishment, before whooping and raising her fist into the air. "Oh yeah, go team us!" Inspired by the performance - and especially by the split! - she also makes an appropriately heroic pose atop the walking pottery, flames out-of-nowhere blazing behind her for a moment. "Let's show them the power of" Pira briefly pauses, "coordinated fighting dance!"

She jumps off the clay heads, turns in the air, lands on her hands onto yet another head and hits other two clay men with her heels - just in the rhythm of Her Highness's cheers! Then she cartwheels towards Thundra, posing back-to-back with her for a moment, leaps dramatically over one of Casanova's shots and finally lands next to Kurumi, covering her while the dancer seems to be having root beer-related issues. "Hiya! I'm liking this new musical approach!"

Princess Diamond continues her cheerleading for her team. Her Pom Poms shake as she sings out a fight song. "She’s Thundra the Thicc she’ll punch you until you’re sick. She’s Pira the Pirahna she’ll punch you until you cry for momma. Together they fight this evil pottery. With every punch a smashing you will see. With my cheering I’ll lead them on to victory. Goooo Team!"

She shakes her Pom Poms and dances in tune to the music making a spectacle for herself and, of course, for any players if there were some. Diamond is used to fighting this way, her first adventure when she first turned eighteen and was given her magic wand she defeated enemies by summoning fish, tap dancing, and eating a giant cake. Magic was just like this sometimes and after three big adventures she was just used to it now.

Compared to a high pace space battle, fighting slow moving pottery people isn't a significant issue for the gallant Space Commander, and she ducks and moves while placing shots to shatter stone... or, well, clay. It still feels surreal, and the constant mention of dancing does make her a bit nervous. It takes a lot to make the cool headed space commander sweat, and the idea of having to dance is one thing that'll hit the mark.

She takes a break between shots, missing a potential opportunity, to signal to the others.

Casanova is struck by a javelin hurled with laser accuracy. Fortunately, the tip is blunt and the spear shatters upon impact. Thundra is hit by a claymore (that is actually made of clay), which breaks over her muscles. Kurumi easily dances away from the danger!

As the princess cheers, Pira and Thundra provide percussion with their combos. The largest of the Terra Potta remains standing and is about to unleash its whirlwind attack—

*ZAP*

—but Casanova’s stun gun renders the statue inanimate. Its eyes dim, and the pottíman remains in a ‘batter up’ stance.

There is broken pottery all over the floor. Behind our heroines, there is still a wall of flame, but the fire is dying at the center, revealing a spiral staircase that will lead our heroines further down.

On the opposite side of the room, below the large mirrors, there’s an open door which leads to a narrow hall. It is oddly triangular, thirty feet high at the peak and only about five feet wide at its base. It’s not so narrow that our heroines would have to move single file. But two women moving side-by-side would definitely block the way of any attacker should there be more ‘claymation hazards’ ahead.
OOC:
Okay, let’s be real. Either way there are going to be bad guys trying to stop you from progressing. So the main difference is this:

• STAIRS: gravity and higher ground come into play, and if we had a fairy player there’s also a huge area in the middle where flight keeps you out of melee.

• HALL: positioning can keep someone relatively safe:

Which way do our heroines go?

Not one to wait in a place where danger's reared its ugly, or in this case statuesque, face Casanova casts her vote quickly. She points to the door, her eyebrow raised, in a method she hopes will show it's a preferred option and not her calling the shots on her own.

"Strange, those terracotta enemies did not droped anything..." says Kurumi. "I cannot decide where to go, my head still feels dizzy." So far she did good performances but she could do little on the stairs or in the narrow corridor.
Jul 15, 2024 12:28 pm
"This way!" Thundra says, pointing to the door. She looks back at Princess Diamond. "Stay behind me and Pira, Princess! Kurumi and Casanova in the rear. Onward!"
Jul 15, 2024 2:35 pm
With the two fighters up-front and two more heroines at the rear, Princess Diamond is—probably for the first time in forever—in the safest position in a perilous situation.

As our heroines cross the narrow corridor, they seem to be well aware that it’s only a matter of time before a foe shows up. They move as swiftly and silently as they can.

Eventually, they see a shadowy figure at the end of the long hall. He is perfectly silhouetted by the flickering red-gold light at his back. There is a sword in his left hand.

In his right, something round.

"Cerberamic!" he shouts as he hurls the sphere, "I choose you!"

There is a crash-tinkle as the ball his the floor. Shards slide and stop short of Pira’s and Thundra’s feet—and before there eyes, purple smoke billows—illuminating the room in a magenta hue.

It fades quickly to a purple haze, and within it is Cerberamic, a three-headed Pottíman (or Pottídog?)! Its heads bark loudly at you! Its bite is probably worse!
OOC:
Rolling for first move: a 4 or 6 hits, a 2, 3 or 5 demoralizes, a 1 does nothing.
Cerberamic is too disoriented to attack in the cramped hallway! It barks loudly and angrily, startling our gentler heroines!
OOC:
Pira, Thundra and Casanova,
Due to strategic positioning and confidence from your previous battle, you may roll 3D for any action. Casanova has a ranged attack, so 3D applies to attack.

Kurumi and Princess Diamond,
You are unharmed but shaken a bit. You can act, but your roll is a regular 2D roll.

Pira responds to the clay dog with a hiss - yes, that's definitely a sound piranhas make, - and a snarling grin of her own. "You better not be challenging me to a bite-off, doggo, because I've defeated dingoes scarier than you! En garde!" She leaps forward, but at the last moment instead of attacking the dog, jumps over its back, dodging the fangs and trying to slip between the Cerberamic and the walls to reach the other opponent. "Hey, wannabe monster trainer, come face me face-to-face!"

How strange it was to be so protected. She expected some spikes to drop or some other horror but it was just a bad dog or really a bad owner. Bad dogs came from bad owners who didn’t teach them better. She focused her attention on the owner and pulled out her wand. "Young man, does your mother know what you are doing here? What would she say if she heard you were sicking your dog on innocent people?"

Casanova is taken by surprise not by the dog, enemies popping out of portals (and clouds of smoke are really the same) isn't a first for her, but the way her companions react is. She'd never considered herself a dog person, they tend to make her nervous with how similar they are to the jocks of space command, and she'd always preferred birds. In hindsight, a pilot preferring birds is a bit of a cliche but still...

She takes aim with her phaser gun, considering her options. In the cramped space a hit on the owner isn't going to be easy, and she doesn't know his situation beyond the shadow. Instead, she looks around for something to help against the dog; big animals like this tend to be vulnerable to falling chandeliers and things.

She spots something loose on the ceiling, and switches her phaser to vandalise.

OOC:
Pira Misses, three heroines Combo (full success) and Casanova Hits (success with complication).
Pira leaps through the air in a graceful arc which would surely clear the oversized three-headed mutt. But the middle head rises to catch the fighter—

—only it clamps its mouth shut too soon as Thundra asserts her dominance! Pira bounces off the Pottídog harmlessly.

The left head is about to strike, but the right head is responding to Kurumi’s attempt to tame it. The middle head is in control of the rear legs, which are making a step back (and slightly toward the wall opposite Thundra).

Casanova sees that everyone in the fight is a dog-person, with the possible exception of Princess Diamond, but she’s scolding the shadowy Pottíman Trainer. So the space commander sets her phaser to Vandalize!

Chunks of the wall come crashing down toward Cerberamic, narrowly missing the most aggressive head as the hind legs and one front leg force the entire dog back several feet!

Our heroines cannot easily pass this obstacle, and two of the heads are growling. It’s pretty clear that our heroines will have to fight Cerberamic if they climb over the rubble.

As our heroines presumably contemplate the harsh reality: Cerberamic is a very, very bad dog (or is trained to be), the trainer himself responds to Princess Diamond.

"My mother? What do you know about my family? Not as much as you should. Do you realize that you look exactly like my sisters?"

The shadowy man is backlit by the red-gold firelight emanating from the triangular opening at the end of the corridor. Two black lines extend from his legs. His shadow, of course.

Only now, his shadow is growing darker. Longer. And as it spreads across the room, it seems that every pixel of the shadow is animated—like billions of little bugs!
[ +- ] Flashback
Our heroines could stick around and find out what the shadow wisps are. Or, they could retreat and take the spiral stairs.

If they do stick around, there is one more bizarre occurrence. As the shadow wisps spread toward our heroines, there are also golden sparkles trickling down from the broken (vandalized) ceiling.

It’s difficult to say which will reach our heroines first, if they stay put:
—the ✨luminous✨sparkles
—or the 👥shadow👤wisps👥?
OOC:
No dice. Decide as a team what to do. Assume you have about ten seconds to talk (and it’s PbP so if this ends up being three minutes of dialogue, y’know… it’s PbP).

The only hint I’ll give you is that it’s clear your characters will not harm Cerberamic. The dog is not so kind, but the GM is. No matter what you choose, you will not be forced to fight the dog after all five of you made a very successful team effort to avoid this fight.
Jul 16, 2024 12:48 pm
"Woo! Structural damage!" Pira throws her hands in the air in reaction to Casanova's successful vandalization, and perches next to the top of the pile of rubble so she can glower over it at Cerberamic's owner. "Hey dude, your shadow's funky and I don't like your attitude, but you have great special effects! Also, have you seen a sword guy around? We're looking to kick his... derriere!"

She looks back over her shoulder at the others and waves her hand at the sparkles. "I wanna see what happens! But maybe some of us can take a step back so we don't all get magicked at once?"
Jul 17, 2024 8:16 am
Like Pira, Casanova wants to know what'll happen when being touched by sparkles or shadows. She'd prefer sparkles, if she's honest, but she does associate them with plasma bolts and being touched by them doesn't tend to end in a comfortable situation. She doesn't get the same impression with these sparkles though. As she wraps herself up in thinking in circles, she remembers the second part of Pira's point and nods.
