Chapter 2: The Gorgon Queen's Lair

"We would probably be more effective if you stay where you are." Says Chironides "However if you prefer walking you are welcome to that as well."

"Fair enough, brother. I shall remain here."

You come across an identical pit. Everything true about the other pit appears to be true here, however, the skeletal hand at the bottom is a clenched fist wearing a ring that seems pristine despite the hand having been devoured.

"Once is happenstance. Twice is contrivance. I say we move on."

"Agreed," Kadmos replies as he gazes into the second pit of vipers. "While the items held within may prove beneficial to our current quest, they may also be decoys to whittle down intruders. Even if they are potent, we must weigh the cost... and I don't think we can afford to risk losing bodies. Besides... an artifact is powerless with no one to use it."

"Back to the main chamber then?" Asks Chironides "If any of you have any skills in scouting, that may be useful"

As you return to the center chamber, you are reminded of the fallen warriors who have been turned to stone that litter the area just past the fountain. It is hard to judge how skilled they are in this motionless state, but based on the fact that they lost you hope at least they were weaker than you. They all appears to be weapon users, with swords, hammers, and daggers, and the occasional spear.

You come to a bridge that overlooks a river. The water doesn't seem that powerful, but it is at least 20 feet below you and you aren't sure but it seems rather deep. As you approach the bridge, you see that there seems to be wooden walkways to the left and right that are inaccessible from your current location. Across from you is a set of statues of warriors. Perhaps this place used to be owned by some group of humans before Hythonia repurposed it. Beyond the statues is another open area with 3 pills and oen that looks to have fallen over. You have yet to cross the bridge, so you can't see much more. You think there might be a doorway on the far end of that room.

What do you do? (Map updated)

"Alright... I'll go."

Without waiting for differing opinions, Kadmos will remove his helm, wrapping a piece of cloth over his eyes and returning his helm to his head. He will tighten his grip on his shield and place his sword hand out before him as he starts moving across the bridge.

Chiron moves to take a peek under the bridge....Aything there?

Follow party 15-20 feet behind

Follow behind Kadmos and Chironides.

Omeros took the lead with Chironides, diligently following Kadmos with his enhanced vision.

Kadmos crosses the bridge and and doesn't get the sense that there is any living thing on the other side. He can only see about 10 feet away, so all he really sees are pillars, though one has fallen over and appears to have made a hole in the wall.

Chironides looks under the bridge and sees nothing of notes.

The rest of the party get a sense that crossing the bridge appears to be safe. When they follow and catch up to Kadmos, they see that there is a walkway that continues north and the room on the other side of the hole in the eastern wall appears to slope down, likely meeting the wooden bridge that is close to the river.

Chiron takes a moment to attach a long chain to a grappling hook before crossing weaving between statues.

Kelnes takes his time going between the statues. Being careful as he crosses.

Hopefully this bridge holds for us on our way out as well
