OOC:
This is a great idea.
Ruby looks at the reverend with new eyes as she is impressed with his tactics. She nods in agreement. "No sense chasing them all down when we know their destination. Laying an ambush by the train is a perfect answer. Yes, let's stake that conductor so we'll only have to fight on one front afterwards."

Dirt winces, knowing that their plan would mean that some poor, cornered soul somewhere wouldn’t get rescued before getting chewed on. Still, there was no good way to go about it, and like as not all the souls in this place might have already been snuffed out.

"They’ll plan on leaving the same way they came in: By train. A before the sun comes up, I’m betting! We wait them out and pick em off as they make a run for cover! Closer they get to sun up, the more risks they’ll take."

That, or the crew would light up their hiding spots come morning.

OOC:
I'm hoping the whistle was some kind of beginning of a round-up, but maybe it'll be a while yet. If everyone is agreeable, I was thinking The Rev and Ruby go get the engineer as soon as folks are all in position. Approach quiet-like. And if it looks like there's more than just the one vamp aboard, bring two of the new boys with us while the other overwatch from their perches. Most of those places I named should be able to see into town and the train.

Davey, Martin and Plucky
"Ain't never shot no vamper before. Guess they bleed like any man, shoot em nuff times." Plucky spits in the dirt.

Davey snacks him on the head. "What would you know about shootin vampers? You ain't ever even shot but a coyote.'

Plucky shrinks from the wallop. "I shoot coyutes right good though."

Inside the bank, you hear claws scratching at the door. A long slow sound that sends shivers down your spines.

"Might be that our friend in there needs a little help getting out!" Dirt jokes, taking a step forward before stopping and looking at the others.

"Open her up, and let him think he’s getting the jump on someone?"

Only for someone to get the jump on him instead…

"I'm gonna climb that water tower like the rev suggested. I don't know how good those vamps are at climbin' but leastways I'll get a good shot at the bastards."

He didn't have much patience for the yahoos that they had join 'em, but havin' them with the group was better than having them against it.

Dirt hopes that the water tower doesn’t end up being a dead end for their sharpshooter! What with how the vamp had hidden in the rafters of the saloon, Dirt supposed they climbed quite well.

"Well, alright then. Let’s get our friend some fresh air!" he says, trying to sound confident after Kane gets into position.

He moves towards the bank, and gets ready to throw the door open and beat a quick retreat!

Martin says, "Doors locked. Want me to finish picking the lock?"

How do the rest of you prepare for the bank job?

Could someone shoot the lock, if they didn’t care about being sneaky?
Jul 22, 2024 5:26 am
"Send whatever is in there back to the grave -- back to hell!" Reverend Turner says as he and Ruby depart. "We'll do the same with the whistle-blower!"
Jul 22, 2024 11:28 pm
Shooting the lock would be fast, effective and loud. Also, likely be a bit of a shock if that vamper is scratching the other side of the door like a tophat wearing performer in some macabre mummery.

Victor, when you get around to it, how about an Athletics check for climbing that tower?

Dirt, no roll needed to shoot the lock. It ain't dodgin'. Just say you do it and it's done.

Dirt puts on a bit of a pantomime, in case the vamp inside had a lick of sense, and wasn’t just pure, instinctual hunger!

"Alrighty! Let’s get this damn door open and loot the place, before the law shows up!" he announces, before shooting the lock and pulling open the door enough for the thing to spring at him!

OOC:
Funny how two of my characters are currently climbing things.
"Alright," Kane says as he rubs his hands together to prepare for his climb. Making it to the top, his legs as agile as a mountain goat, he withdraws his Big 50 and gets ready to shoot any vampires through the heart.

Victor scanners up the water tower easily enough, not it will take him a couple rounds to get up there.

Meanwhile, Dirt blasts the lock and there is a shriek from inside. He surprised the creature and neither of you will have the drop on the other.

The vampire gets it's wits about it first and lunges out for Briggs' throat, fangs glistening in the moonlight.

Briggs' Parry is 6, so that's a success. 4 damage is less than his Toughness of 5 so it's a glancing scratch only.

All of you are up in whatever order you post.

Rolls

Fightin - (1d10, RA)

(8) = 8

Damage - (1d12+1d4, RA)

(3) + (1) = 4

Cripes they do a lot of damage. Also, Rev and the leggy Saloon Gal are elsewhere, or no?

Kane continues climbing ever aware of the goings-on down below.

OOC:
You were headed elsewhere, to the train engine, but Briggs started the party early. You can continue what you were doing, moseying about like it's a Sunday picnic, or hightailing it like a coyote with it's tail on f fire. I can't make that call for ya.
