This will be my first attempt to DM a PBP so I’m going to just run a one shot module to get the hang of things. If all goes well and the group wants to continue past I will consider it at that time.

A marauding dragon has laid waste to numerous villages, devouring some residents while displacing others. It strikes without mercy. No one knows where it came from, where it lairs, or how long it intends to terrorize the realm.
But there is hope. Long ago, a werewolf knight of great valor used her wealth to raise a bastion at the edge of the wilderness. This castle had the power to generate a lightning shield around itself—a shield powerful enough to break sieges and keep monsters at bay. The castle was abandoned shortly after the knight passed away. By then, peace had settled across the land, making the stronghold unnecessary.
Villagers displaced by the dragon ask you to travel to Lightning Keep and rid it of any threats. Rumor has it the lightning shield is powered by six magical lightning rods. If you can find these rods, perhaps the lightning shield could be reactivated, allowing refugees fleeing the dragon to use the keep as a sanctuary.

So the only source we are allowed is the PHB?
Jun 27, 2024 9:44 pm
I’m open to other things case by case. What were you thinking? But official books for sure.

I was going to ask about making a Chronurgy Wizard from Explorer's guide to Wildmount.
Jun 27, 2024 9:53 pm
That would be just fine.

Awesome. So I have character idea for a variant human Chonurgy Wizard. I was going to go with the hermit background. I was thinking he was a bit of social pariah because people fear time magic so he lives alone in the wilds. Dragon disturbed his studies and when he went to investigate he saw the destruction it was causing he decided to help. Also, how are you doing ability scores?

Wow Arrcher101. Bold. I'm willing to risk it with human mercenary guy that is a type of fighter willing to help the people and find the rods.

We are going to do standard array with one feat, so no variant human cus you’d get two feats. Thanks for the reminder I forgot to add that to the info.

I’ve DM’d in real life but this will be an adventure all on its own, haha. Not guaranteed to go smooth but it should at least be interesting! Fighter would be welcome.

Smiles. Not a problem. I really wasn't thinking on the character mechanically wise. Just felt I wanted a human as opposed to the other races is all. Nice to have a free feat just the same. Good to know we are using the standard array too.

I'd like to propose an Owlin archer who is an arrowsmith by trade (will have proficiency with woodcarver's tools...Xanathar's Guide to Everything has details on how someone with proficiency with woodcarver's tools can make arrows. He'd even use his own feathers for the fletching).

I see him being a Sorcerer (with the Sea Sorcery subclass - if allowed) being of a species of Owlin that generally inhabits coastal areas.

So sea sorcery owelin sorcerer with guild artisans background?
Jun 28, 2024 1:24 am
Yes, I would imagine the guild would be: The Guild of Woodcarvers, coopers, and bowyers

That’d be fine. Invite sent. @Sardis

I would propose an Aarakokcra Warlock, with a Djinni patron.
Jun 28, 2024 4:31 pm
What kind of Djinni were you thinking of using the patron?
Jun 28, 2024 6:55 pm
The large air elemental type as described in the monster manual. A Djinni being a specific type of Genie.

@thorsman99, If you can work with ‘Djinni grants the pc a portion of their power, they’re a magnanimous, amazing, and handsome Djinni, why wouldn't they be an amazing patron too? And obviously this mortal wants to serve, who wouldn't? The patron be an intrusive annoyance or an overbearing sugar daddy and still be good aligned’ then so can I.

Lol! Yeah, I think I can manage that.
