I'll continue to burn the tree with my ball o' fire to remove the troll's precious shade. And throw some needle darts at him because why not. Aim for his squishy bits about the head.
OOC:
It was 10 damage from the floating flame, 27 to hit for needle darts for 11 damage (piercing)
Mar 21, 2025 1:09 am
Octavius pays no attention to the mud staining his clothes. Such concerns are beneath the attention of a soldier in battle. He draws up his crossbow, loads and fires

[never mind. all dice hate me. I will stop using the d20 and switch to the d4 to have better odds of rolling above a 3]
Mar 24, 2025 2:33 am
Octavius' bolt bounces harmlessly off the trolls thick hide.

Following that the ranger gleefully order the dog "Nuggets, Go!". The dog obediently lunges forward to rip and tear at the gangly trolls undersize, causing the troll to topple. The ranger repositioning himself and looses an arrow into the troll fallen hide.

The troll desperately attempts to crawl back the the shade of the forest. It's skin hardens and it petrifies with a look of panic on it's toothy face.

Octavius has concerns about the proper disposal of petrified trolls. Can the reanimate? Are the a potential nexus of evil? He does not want a second one of those in the local area.

Perhaps we should fetch hammer and chisel to reduce it to gravel? Or should we have our prisoners do hard labour as penance?
Mar 25, 2025 9:39 pm
I'll go about putting out the fire I started on the tree using the spout cantrip.
Mar 26, 2025 9:05 pm
Dalia will tend to any remaining wounds
Mar 27, 2025 10:00 pm
The ranger produces a mallet and spike, which he uses to slowly disassemble the the stone troll with grim determination. "It is done".

Silene is able to quell the fire, with the loss of only one tree. Thought the tree she case in combat remains healthy and will grow in time.

The only one that is injured in the Ekon the ranger. After the troll he nearly collapses, so you can apply medicine or spells. After a time Ekon asks "What brings you to the wilds? Are you hunting trolls? You are dressed to fancy to be homesteaders. They are a constant danger. Perhaps we can travel together if our paths align?"

We are heading to Brevoy with news that we have vanquished the bandits from the river fort. We intend to establish an outpost there to maintain law and order in the region.
Mar 31, 2025 2:45 am
The rangers eyes gleam, but he snorts a laugh. "Order" he mumbles "The river kingdoms are not know for law and order." He pauses to pet his dog "Still the forests could use fewer bandits, do you need a escort? I can take my hunt in any direction."
Apr 1, 2025 1:27 am
An escort would be welcome if you are familiar with this area
Apr 1, 2025 5:09 am
The more the merrier
Apr 1, 2025 4:22 pm
Sir, your knowledge and experience of this area would be of great value to us. We are, admittedly, new to the region and would appreciate any insights you would share. Peoples, places, beasts and legends.

Filbert reports back after a little while. Complaining that there was a very mean dog that tried to chew on him! The bandits seem to have found a old mining cave to haul up in for the night.
