I was right, and that’s the main thing!!
Wolverine, emboldened by the scuffle, lays waste to all around him!
OOC:
Whirling Frenzy!

Agility check vs Agility defense of every enemy within reach. Half damage on a success, full damage and bleeding on a Fantastic success.

Rolls

ROLLS - AGILITY - (3d6+3)

(352) + 3 = 13

Wolverine unleashes a berserker barrage on the three vanguards engaged with Jubilee, Gambit, and Cyclops. He scores light slashes against all three.

5 damage to each enemy. 45 total to Jubilee's enemy, 28 to Gambit's, and 5 to Cyclops'.
Sep 21, 2024 1:59 pm
Two heavily injured vanguards flee away from Gambit and Jubilee to the largest building in the north. The vanguard holding Cyclops suddenly releases him and pushes him forward, raiding his cybernetic gauntlet. Cyclops staggers forward and spins around to see a red beam that looks identical to his optic blast emit from the vanguard's eyes! The optic blast slams right into Cyclops' chest full force!
OOC:
Rerolling Marvel die for the edge. Ouch that's a hit. Heroes are up! Two enemies fled into building C on the map. One enemy is engaged with Cyclops.
33 damage to Cyclops.

Rolls

Optic Blast (TN 15) - (3d6+3)

(622) + 3 = 13

Edge re-roll - (1d6)

(6) = 6

Cyclops only had 31, so he's out

Using Dazzle on the goon that just beamed Cyclops.
Testing out her fireworks, Jubilee notes that they're much weaker, more of a sparkler, really. Well, she'll have to make do with a 'piff' instead of the usual 'paf'. Jubilee launches a few embers into the eyes of the goon with the lasers vision.

Rolls

ROLLS - EGO - (3d6+5)

(665) + 5 = 22

OOC:
If Cyclops is getting hit, I have reactions! Nightcrawler can Blink to Cyclops, that's my reaction for the turn. Always Ready gives Nightcrawler a second reaction, which I can use for Teleport Together to whisk Cyclops away from the damage.

Does this even work?
Sep 22, 2024 2:26 am
OOC:
That's a good plan! The only catch is the second reaction can only be used for a Martial Arts technique, so you can't use Teleport Together. You could Blink to the enemy and try something like Leg Sweep to knock him prone which would affect his attack. Jubilee's attack is a success but I'll wait to resolve it until we work out Nightcrawler's attack.
Sep 22, 2024 9:12 am
OOC:
Argh you're right, it's gotta be a Martial Arts move. Leg Sweep is best then, it's got the knocked prone opportunity and also the potential for stun. Rolling!
Kurt saw the two injured vanguards fall back, but the third did not back off but chose to aim their gauntlet at a just-released Cyclops. He leapt into action, BAMF! reappearing next to the vanguard to scythe him down with a sweeping kick!
OOC:
Spending 5 Focus for that Leg Sweep

Rolls

Melee - (3d6+4)

(264) + 4 = 16

Edge - (1d6)

(3) = 3

Sep 22, 2024 10:42 am
OOC:
That hits!
Nightcrawler sweeps out the legs from underneath the FoH soldier and he goes sprawling on his back just as his optic blast goes off and it instead shoots straight up into the sky. Jubilee uses the opportunity to douse his face in fireworks which temporarily blinds the man. He howls in pain and frustration.
OOC:
The other X-Men are still up.

Wolverine springs on one of the other still-standing FoH, claws raised and ready to swipe!

"Wrong move, dirt bags!"
OOC:
Viciously Attack-Ing this Bozo!

Rolls

ROLLS - MELEE - (3d6+6)

(644) + 6 = 20

Between Jubilee, Nightcrawler, and Logan attacking one poor, lone, (almost) defenseless, (mutant) powerless human, the man goes unconscious and banged up very badly.
Sep 23, 2024 2:57 pm
"How are your powers?" Kurt asked out of great concern as he quickly grabbed the fallen FoH's glove before he could rouse and use it against them. He looked for a way to reverse the draining ability.

"If we're okay let's go after the other two. We need those gloves to get everyone's powers back."
OOC:
If how to use or reverse the gauntlet isn't immediately obvious, Kurt will hand it over to the teammate whose powers are the most drained, for them to use.

"Lemme help dere, mon ami bleu."

With Gambit's powers based on energy, he attempts to help Nightcrawler on how to use and possibly reverse the draining ability of the gloves.

Anyone inspecting the glove make me a TN 15 Logic check.

Logan looks the thing over, and grunts to himself when he can’t make heads or tails of the thing!

"Lets just junk the thing!" he says, offering to destroy it!
OOC:
Come on, Logan! You can do it!

Since the roll was a failure I think Gambit doesn't have any insight to add to help another. @orklord just so its clear Cyclops didn't take that damage since Nightcrawler used a reaction which interrupted the attack.
Everyone stares at the gauntlet but the technology seemed beyond any of their knowledge. Perhaps if they had Hank McCoy with them. But the larger question is who made this fantastic tech? And were they still on the island?

Thanks for letting me know that - it wasn't clear that the reaction prevented the damage. Yay!
