The Broken Tower - Gameplay

Nathem saw his bow strikes seemed to pass through the creatures without really harming them. Scanning the environment in the flash of combat, he spot an old crumbling stone wall. Whistling quickly to Rurik to call the cat away and free from harm, he called to Vasana, pointing. If you press it there, I'll drop that wall on it... Nathem stowed his bow as he scrambled over the broken rocks to plant a shoulder against the wall. He looked around the ruin waiting for the opportune moment to push.
OOC:
Putting the strength here, but assuming he would wait for Vasana to get clear/press the opponent into position

Rolls

STRx5(70) - (d100)

(63) = 63

Nov 11, 2024 5:18 pm
Vasana nods at Nathem, and will attempt to drive it forward to the the spot he indicated.
OOC:
I don't see any rules for such a combat maneuver to push an enemy somewhere. I'll roll an attack, a called shot for the head, and position Vasana towards the spot, hoping it follows her under the rock fall trap (and equally hoping she can get out from under it before it falls on her head!)

Rolls

Broadsword (10) 90 *(45 for called shot to the head) - (1d100)

(41) = 41

damage with bonus to strength - (1d8+1+1d4+1d6)

(2) + (3) + (4) + 1 = 10

Nov 11, 2024 6:16 pm
OOC:
OK, we'll take the maneuver as a simple move, which will occur before SR 12. Her called shot will take place then, if Nathem's idea doesn't work.

Note that your damage bonus of 1d6 replaces the 1d4, so that will be 7 damage.
Rurik jumps away and Vasana ducks and dodges past the creature of bone and vines, drawing it to the crumbled wall, just as Nathem pushed the pile of rubble at the thing. Too slow to dodge, it is hit full on.
OOC:
Nathem, give me 3d6 damage

Nathem grunted in exertion feeling the solid wall resisting his push,

Nathem yanked against his chains. The ravager raised his blade, the already broken form of Ferri laying on the ground before him. The fire consuming the surrounding village gleamed off the sword as it moved. As Nathem saw the blade fall he felt his life fall with it. Something broke inside him. A primal scream erupted the man's throat as a strength beyond what he dreamed capable surged through him. As the strain against the bonds increased, Nathem heard a sickening pop as something in his body gave way. The hunter noted the information for the future... Something to be dealt with when his hands held the ravager's head. Nathem tumbled forward in a roll, the chains sliding from his broken limbs. The revenant that was Nathem Son of Nhean leapt onto the man's back as he lifted his sword from the grim deed. Nathem's teeth penetrated the man's neck unleashing a spray of blood and gore that sprayed Ferri's simple brown dress. Nathem kept biting, tearing, gnashing until he realized he was choking on the man's blood. Nathem lifted his head to stare at his daughter. Light had left her eyes, but Nathem saw the look of horror on her face. In shame, Nathem wondered if the horror was aimed at the ravager or his own savagery. Nathem wept as he dragged his broken form across the ground toward Ferri. He could hear the tumult and clamor of the surrounding village dying, but there was an overwhelming press on Nathem's ears. A buzz that could not allow anything else into his grief, his anguish. He lay next to Ferri, weeping bitterly, not noticing the fires burning low. The quiet, the uneasy quiet that hovered around him. He lay until he felt a soft lick against his cheek. The hunter lifted his heavy eyes to see Rurik. The cat had a broken leg and had dragged itself to lay on Ferri's chest. Nathem looked into Rurik's eyes and saw a grief mirroring his own.
Nathem growled, a primal sound, unnatural and haunting as he heaved against the wall. The balance shifted and the structure collapsed on the animated creature.

Rolls

Damage - (3d6)

(662) = 14

The stones tumble, hitting the creature, crushing the skull and as soon as the bone shatters, the rest collapses beneath it. Realising the thing's weak spot, Vasana bounds over the rumble, launching herself into the air, her broadsword swinging overhead, aimed at the skull the other creature looming over Vishi. A solid blow cleaves the goat's skull in two and the bones and vines separate and clatter to the ground.

With the creatures both taken care of, it's time to take care of Vishi!
OOC:
Makarios, you're up @awsmack
Nov 17, 2024 1:42 pm
Makarios sprints to the scene of the battle, out of breath but determined. He marvels at the collapsed wall and the devastation it wrought on the creature. He kneels at the foot of the beast's shattered remains for a moment, unsure whether to feel saddened by its death or relived to be out of immediate danger. Then, spotting the wounded shaman unfurls his robe in dramatic fashion, revealing several vials and delicately wrapped dried herbs. "Lie still, Kinslayer," he whispers and begins to wave a low, warm melody, eventually closing his eyes and laying hands on his fallen comrade.
OOC:
Fuck sake, this is the worst healer in all Glorantha.

Is there an option to push in RuneQuest?
Nov 17, 2024 3:55 pm
OOC:
No, there is no luck or push, the use of skills (ie sing/dance() or using passions or runes prior to a skill/spell roll, bolsters the roll

OOC:
Yeah, unfortunately I failed my sing skill earlier, of course.
Nov 17, 2024 9:36 pm
OOC:
No problem. When you fail a spell, you lose no magic points. As there's no pressure here, you can try again next round!

He has lost 8hp, so with Heal 2, you can heal that in three rounds costing 8 magic points

Makarios furrows his brow, sensing his his Spirt Magic was ineffective. He pauses for a beat and spreads his robe wide and falls to his knees, palms open and facing toward the sky. His gutteral chanting becomes more fervent as he attempts to embody the holy Lightbringer, Chalana Arroy. Then, feeling the power surge through his limbs, he lays his open palms upon the wounds of Vishi.
OOC:
I'm unclear which Rune to roll against, since 3 are listed. Is it the highest?
OOC:
I'm speechless.
