Correct, your casting roll is Pow x5 along with any bonus from passions, skills etc. Then some spells get a Resistance Roll, which is also POW vs POW (with no bonus)[ +- ] Spirit Magic

Correction on the Special Success rule. Unlike CoC's Hard/Extreme of 50%/20%, Runequest uses Special Success at 20% and Critical Success is 5%
Therefore Makarios' Passion roll was just a regular success in this instance, giving him a +20% to his cast roll, not +30.
Having said that, his casting roll of 4 IS a Critical Success, being 5% of his amended casting skill of 80%!

Rurik padded to the side then dashed and sprang off some rubble to attack Danakos.
