Chigaru shrugs. "As long as we are thorough, where we start is unimportant," he grumbles. "I will assume you neither saw n or heard anything leaving this place?"

Agreeing with Chigaru, "Indeed, as long they're lifeless piles when all is said and done, it doesn't matter.". Furrowing his brow at the zombies, "Or unlifeless."

"Then let's pick a direction." Saldrina indicates the south passage.

You make your way back to the room with the zombies. With some more time you are able to figure out that one of the goblin's swords is in fact magical. Once you've finished exploring the room, you follow the hallway to the south.

You walk some 30 feet or so down when the hallway splits and a tunnel shoots off to the east where a staircase leads downwards. It only goes a few feet down before it has caved in, stopping you from exploring further.

The original hallway continues to the south where it ends in a door. Opening the door it leads to a strange room. It is a five-yard-diameter
sphere. Several objects float in the room, spinning lazily in spaceā€”a ragged book, a scroll, a bottle of wine, a dead raven surrounded by a halo of floating and writhing maggots, and a twisted iron wand with a forked tip.

Yet perhaps the most unnerving aspect of the room is the walls. They're plated in sheets of strange red metal that ripple every once in a while with silent black electricity that seems to coalesce into strange runes or even words far too often for the effect to be chance.

Khel is fascinated by the room. It must have some kind of magical presence that was being held only in the room. He wanted to know more about such arcane phenomena and tried to remember if he had read anything like this. Ofcourse the room could be trapped by some arcane incantation, and he had to make sure he didn't trigger anything nasty.
OOC:
Rolling spellcasting to understand what kind of magic is happening here. Also, please tell me if I need to roll something else to detect magical traps.

Wess looks into the room, puzzled as to what's going on, "Now there's something you don't see everyday. Any of you spellcasters know what going on in there?" he asks.

"At least there's wine." pointing at the floating bottle. "Aged very well, from the looks of things." Grim remarks as he waits for the others.

In fact it turns out the wine isn't all that old, as you can see the label is Whispering Willow (a winery outside of Magnimar) and is a three year old vintage.

The room itself have had some kind of spell permanency cast on it, probably a spell that messes with gravity. In fact, you try tossing in some loose stones and they start floating as well. It seems there is no danger involved.

In fact if any of you are to step inside, you'll find yourself floating harmlessly as well.

Chigaru folds his arms and shakes his head. His baritone voice rings out, "I don't like it. All magic in this accursed place has been evil. If you must explore, leave this for last. There are plenty of other avenues to inspect for now."

So, you mention that there is a permanent spell cast here, making everything float. Will dispel work on it?

You are not sure, but you can certainly try. It is old magic, and seems to be seeped into the chamber's construction.

Khel eyed the room and said, "Strong ancient spell works have been established here. It must have been cast when the room was first made. So, it has stayed active all through the time and yet never faltered. Whoever is the crafter of such enchantment is strong and versatile. It would be difficult to undo such spellcraft, but I will try my best." He started to draw arcane symbols with the end of his staff as he prepared to dispel.

Saldrina steps into the room and feels herself being gently lifted into the air. She giggles slightly. "It's like being tickled. Come on, try it!"

Perturbed by Khel's statement, Grim remarks, "I agree with Chigaru, let's get out of here and make sure all the other scum is dead beforehand."

He looks over to Saldrina, irked at her walking in, "You can play in the weird room after."

Wess agrees with Grimwulf; "Aye, I'll pass on meddling with ancient magics." he says, waiting to see if Khel has any effect on the room.

Khel tries to subdue the ancient magic, but is unable. You take your leave of the strange room and head back to the statue and the last unexplored corridor. The one with stairs leading upwards. It is tight and cramped and you can only move in a line. The stairs end in a door. You make sure there are no traps on it, before Wess opens it to a strange sight.

The room seems ordinary enough, a small circular room with a pool in the middle. Stranger is the fact that the pool is lined with skulls. Though strangest of all is the inhabitants in the room. Two small demonic looking heads attached to leathery wings. They shriek in anger at you in some infernal language.

Saldrina is first. Drew a Joker and gets +2 to all actions this round. Everyone gets a bennie.

The challenge is that since you're a large party and in a line, those a few steps down have limited visibility to the room. I'll say the creatures have Medium Cover (-4 to hit). None of the melee fighters should have trouble reaching them with movement.
