Wess sighs and says "Well then, are we backtracking, or excavating?"
Mar 19, 2025 12:48 pm
Chigaru shakes his head. "No point in excavating. If it's caved in, nothing here would be using it to reach the surface. Did we miss anywhere else? I feel we are missing the something, the source or a leader. Perhaps it was the mutant goblin?" he muses.

OOC:
You do remember reading in Tsuto's journal that Nualia did make a deal with the quasit. Brodert Quink informed you that a quasit can turn invisible. You fought an invisible creature that could create the weird monsters with his blood. It is safe to assume it was the leader.

Khel stroked his beard, "It does seem that we have explored the entire section. Before we go back, I will try to dispel the levitating magic one more time."
Mar 19, 2025 8:19 pm
"Maybe something in that room will be of value. Well, not the dead bird."
Mar 20, 2025 10:45 am
You return to the levitation room and secure the items that could be of value. The wand you are able to identify as a wand of shocking grasp. The scroll is a scroll of burning hands.

The book is written in some foul language, though from the pictures you think it might be a bestiary as there are some horrible creatures drawn in it. Some you have heard of, but some are completely new to you. You figure it would be valuable to a collector.
OOC:
Wand of bolt (shocking grasp; 14 charges; Touch Limitation; SpellĀ casting)
Scroll of burst (burning hands)

Edit: You also get your second advance for cleaning out the dungeon.

OOC:
Great! So, we are returning to Sandpoint? As for 2nd advance, I have increased smarts to d12.
Mar 21, 2025 12:53 am
The piercing scream overtakes Grim as sudden waves of nausea and vertigo course through his body. He stumbles forward a bit then falls onto his knees, throwing up whatever his last meal was, the hagfish?

After a moment, the sound of his upchuck is replaced by a low but steady ringing from inside his ears. He places a hand on his left ear and feels a wetness, grimacing at the sight of fresh blood.

The halfing shrugs and grunts off any assistance by his companions. As they go to explore the remainder of the tunnel he slowly rises and drags the maul over to the immolated skull that caused him this pain. With a yell he savagely bashes the remains until nothing but pulp is left. After, half turning his head back to the group, muttering, "I feel better now."

Heading back, Grim grabs the bottled wine from the arcane play room, spending the night alone in his thoughts, going over the horror in the glassworks factory, that seed of eternal anger within blooming just a bit more, eventually replacing the ringing with a pounding headache the next morning.
OOC:
just wanted to play up the crit fail from earlier
OOC:
pretty sure I'll take trademark weapon as next advance, but will confirm in a bit.

Brodert Quink
You make your way back out. You see the bodies have been carted off to the cathedral, and only Brodert and two of the deputies remain.

He seems eager to explore the tunnels beneath. Shalelu volunteers to guide him.

You take a well deserved rest, and possibly a bath (especially those who was hit by the goblin's acidic blood breath). Back at the Rusty Dragon you can see no sign of Ameiko, though her employee Bethana is tending the customers.

The next morning you gather for breakfast. Li says he's leaving to look for Misaki and bid you a good luck.

You are soon approached by Brodert Qunink who, unlike the rest of the people gathered in the common room, seems to be filled with excitement. "I must say this is a most intriguing discovery."

"I was able to take a look at the pool in the cathedral. Shalelu said monsters came from the pool," he begins explaining. "I think the pool was feeding on anger and in turn enforcing the anger of the citizen. How know how long it has silently influenced the people of Sandpoint."

"I think the quasit put up an altar to Lamashtu down there. That's the Mother of Monsters to those of you not in the know. A vile godess." he seems to shiver just saying the name.
Mar 21, 2025 2:58 pm
Khel listened to Brodert Quink with interest and then responded, "That is indeed an interesting observation, Master Quink. Does it mean then that the altar is some kind of magical portal that responds to emotion, creating a link to whatever realm is supplying these vile monsters? Is it a permanent ritual or a dimensional portal? If it is able to feed and respond to anger, then shouldn't we destroy it?"

Khel bid his goodbye to Li when he chose to leave Sandpoint. He had never met a man from Minkai before, and his brief acquaintance with him had been very educational, eventful, and memorable. He wished Li absolute success in the quest he pursued, hoping that he would find whatever he came searching for.

"If it has the power to influence the people of Sandpoint then it must be destroyed for their safety. Do you know how that can be done?" he asks to Quink.
Mar 22, 2025 2:40 am
Saldrina wakes a bit later than usual but arrives in time to meet with Quink and say her goodbyes to Li. She has not known the man long, but he has proven a faithful and skilled companion. She leans in close after Chigaru's question, having similar concerns herself.
Mar 22, 2025 3:13 am
OOC:
Saldrina learned two new powers, bolt and detect/conceal arcana.
Mar 22, 2025 5:01 am
Saddened to see Li leave, he gives the man a firm bear hug. "I hope you find what you're looking for friend, and that our paths cross again."

Turning back to the table, he continues to scarf down his breakfast while listening in on the conversation with Quink.
Mar 22, 2025 9:14 am
Chigaru gives a polite bow to Li. "May you find your lost charge and return her to safety."
OOC:
Taking the Brawler edge for my advancement.
Mar 22, 2025 3:38 pm
Wess scratches his head in confusion, "Is the town affecting the pool, or is the pool influencing the town?"

Brodert Quink
"Yes!" Brodert Quink answers Wess excitedly. Then realizes how ambiguous that answer is and goes into a longer explanation. "I think the well feed on the citizen's anger and in return deepen their feeling of anger."

"I don't know if the well has recently activated or been influencing under the surface for years. It could explain the recent time of trouble," Brodert continues. "Though I am unsure how to destroy it. It is a historical artifact so preferably we will be able to find a way to silence it without having to destroy it."

"I will hear with father Zantus if he can concecrate the area for now. So what are your plans now?"
Mar 24, 2025 12:46 pm
Khel nodded to Brodert Quink, "I understand your reluctance to destroy it. However, if we can't neutralize its magical effect, destroying it will be the only way to get rid of its effect. We have taken care of Tsuto, but she served someone else. The previous daughter of late Father Tobyn? We need to find out what she is up to. It seems like she doesn't like Sandpoint very much, and the greater goblin threat is still not taken care of."

"Right," Brodert says adjusting his glasses. "I believe Shalelu mentioned something about that. Thistletop goblin. They should be somewhere in the Nettlewood."
Mar 25, 2025 5:31 pm
Wess says, "Marching into an unknown forest to wipe out goblins before they can threaten the town?!? That's how glorious songs are written!" then he sighs regretfully, "It also sounds like a good way to die. Maybe there's another way to make sure they call off their attack?"
