Roll a paralyzation, poison, death magic save. Oh, sorry, wrong edition. Roll a CON save :)

Got a private question from someone where a public answer seems appropriate:

Provos is a human male of approximately 45 years of age. He's basically a teamster, he has a three wagon caravan that runs the circuit between Esternesse, Zhanniqua and Seasparrow, buying and selling items where he can get the best markup possible.

You all are free to take whatever kind of artistic license you'd like in developing a history around your relationships with Provos, but it should be appropriate scaled as the thing that got you from Level 1 to Level 2... so, y'know, no undead beholders or anything. ;)

Sometimes I use my "post in progress" template to hold my spot so that nobody posts while I'm posting, because I've historically missed their post that way and it has led to not addressing their stuff. When I do that, I make sure to post in the OOC area that the thread is released as soon as I'm done, so that people know it's unlocked and ready to go again.

I'm done. ;) The thread is unlocked and ready to go again.

Read the theft on the gryphon yesterday. Today I saw this one

I appreciate everyone looking at Eirika regarding the stolen items mystery. And to be perfectly honest, I get it from an IC point of view.
Just a fair heads up: as a player I am quite bad at mysteries like these.

So a quote like this
Miss Wintersun? Or Eirika if I may? What did you think of the Baron's story? I noted some absences in the description.

Maybe Eirika might have noticed things. But I certainly did not :) :)

I'm with you, when I play with my tabletop group (well, Zoom group the last few years), they plan for hours and live for puzzles. I get bored and fall asleep, literally in a few cases.

Lude, of course, is a genius and can figure anything out ... with the right dice rolls. :-)

Then answer as best you think Eirika would have. One approach may be to (privately) roll Investigation/Perception/Insight as needed in the IC forum and ask @Dipper if you noticed anything. Another may be to play her as a bit of a savant, brilliant in the arcane and not so elsewhere, even with a ridiculous INT :). She’s your creation; we will conform to how you play her.

Yeah, I was afraid of that. As you can imagine, spending the entire adventure in a civilized town means combat encounters are pretty minimal for this adventure. I do intend to make up for it with more of a dungeon delve for the second, although that will depend largely on what you guys decide to do.

When in doubt, I follow the great teachers of yore.

Considering the last combat encounter we had (admittedly possibly the most extreme case) took over 3 days of talking about it (13.5 hours) for a final decision of teleport in and see what happens then losing the fight and teleporting out. I think your adventure will be a welcome relief. I am a fast poster but not a deep thinker; but others may be and sometimes I get it right anyway.

It's not that I find puzzles boring. It's just that I am by far not as good as them as Eirika probably would probably be especially pure logic puzzles. :)

If the mystery is indeed matching gaps in stories and memorizing small details then Eirika is well equipped to solve those.
But as a player, I probably won't :)

I agree - this is strange that in RPG you are solving puzzles as a player not as a PC. It could happen that the player best at puzzle solving is playing a barbarian both int and wis scores below 7 ... but then again he may just be very lucky, not smart.

Neither I have ever solved a puzzle in RPG, but I just don't give up. Even if I can't solve it - my PC can help by collecting hints/information to help players do. And remember - there are 6 players and only one will solve it, so even if we all have the same solving skills, there would be little chance for you to solve it before others do.

C'mon Grey, have some confidence. There are 6 players and only one will solve it, so . . . it's only a 50% or less chance that it will be you.

@Dipper what do you expect, how would you prefer players to post their player actions before your next post? I mean time-frame:
do we go OOC and pick 3/4 locations; do we pick just one location and describe in details what character does before seeing the description of the location? Do we only pick single location before posting our actions at the location (after we read location description)?
Or maybe I can describe what is my PC talking to random people he meets on the street as he walks out of the The Smart Sahaugin to even make a decision of the location.
GreyWord sent a note to Dipper

Would you like us to do the note to everyone in our group when posting now? Who is for sure in which groups?

Can you even do a note to more than one player? I presumed that the main group was "public" and only the solos were "out of sight".

Private boxes highly preferred, but I know it can be a bit challenging, especially at first.

Right now it's everyone except GreyWord in a group: that's avraham, runekyndig, arrcher101, badbaron and Shorty. If you look at the little notepad thing right to the left of OOC, it's actually pretty easy to just check off everyone and then hit Private. Don't worry about including me, I see everything anyway.
