He's just prone. I'll let Pedrop further describe the realistic but totally unnecessary shaking from Nindia. LOL!

"I'm afraid to cut down these trees, so I think I'll go look for dead branches. Can you help me, Faramos? I'll also use this stop to finish cooking yesterday's boar. You should rest a little while we do that, Nindia." - said Brenda
OOC:
Roll for Survival if you wanna MAKE CAMP, Faramos. If you succeed, everybody can remove the COLD condition and Brenda will COOK.

"I'm afraid to cut down these trees, so I think I'll go look for dead branches. Can you help me, Faramos? I'll also use this stop to finish cooking yesterday's boar. You should rest a little while we do that, Nindia." - said Brenda
Faramos nodded, understanding the respect she showed for the forest. "Aye, lass. The trees here have seen more than we can imagine. Best not to anger them. Let’s find what the forest has already given."

As Brenda and Faramos moved through the clearing, they searched the ground for fallen branches, their movements careful and deliberate. The dwarf’s keen eyes spotted the signs of decay, guiding them to where the dead wood lay scattered beneath the thick blanket of leaves. Brenda gathered the branches, grateful for Faramos’s guidance as he whispered soft words of thanks to the forest for its offering.

Returning to the center of the clearing, Brenda arranged the branches into a small, neat pile. She knelt and, with practiced ease, sparked a fire, the flames licking at the dry wood until they caught and began to burn steadily. The smell of smoke mingled with the cool, earthy scent of the forest as she retrieved the wrapped remains of the boar from her pack. As the meat began to sizzle over the fire, a savory aroma filled the air, momentarily pushing back the chill of the woods.

Springrise, 7th day.
Day

The fire crackled softly, and the warmth began to seep into their bones, driving away some of the cold that had settled in their hearts. For a brief moment, the dangers of the Whispering Woods felt distant, held at bay by the simple, comforting ritual of preparing a meal. As the scent of the roasting boar grew richer, Brenda glanced at Nindia and smiled reassuringly.

She then gave a portion of the food to Nindia and another to Faramos.
OOC:
Both of you can increase your FOOD die to D8. Brenda is still at D6, for now, as the meat is over.
OOC:
Nindia, if you agreed to REST while Faramos and Brenda were making camp, you can restore all your attributes. Otherwise, you had almost a Quarter Day to do something else. Please describe. Either way, all PCs are not COLD anymore. It's now Day.

Faramos, Nindia, what do you do?

OOC:
I noted changes on my sheet:)
"AHhh Brenda! This smells delicious! That boar had a real warrior within him, no wonder the meat will be so good." - Faramos commented when Brenda was finishing her cooking. Then started to pack his things.

"I think we should go now. What you think Nindia?" - he realized that his body and mind feels much better after some meal and heat of the campfire and the ghost that they surely have met seemed now more like a distant nightmare, rather then something they really have experienced. But he knew they did.

"I know it may sound scary - at least for me it is - but I think we should do what may sound not as logical at first... and head further northeast... going through the center of the forest is the best way to be sure we have lost all the Rust Brothers that may still be tracking you... or now us. I don't think they will dare to fallow us there. And that's why it's the best option for us to be safe for a while... at least when we will be on the other side. What you think? I'm ready to departure."
OOC:
Rolling Lead the way in case Nindia/Grey didn't change their minds:) My next action - when hopefully we will be in next hex - would be some rest, to heal my dmg. So 2 shifts planned for Faramos.
Who will be KEEPing WATCH while we move ? I think it's a place we should be cautious.

Edit: no sucessses this time. It's tempting to push... but I think it's more thematic that Faramos - in the heart of the forest - is not completely aware that they are lost a little....

Yes I can keep watch. Please fix if anything I misunderstood - I restored my PC wits back to 3 (and str), but Brenda still have 2 damage on wits. In this case I will roll the scouting, if required

The ground beneath you shifts unnaturally, and suddenly, dark and thorn-covered vines erupt from the soil, wrapping tightly around your legs. You have walked into an area with cursed vines. The more you struggle, the tighter they bind.

Brenda tries to move, but she is stuck. She waits a little, hoping that you will be able to help her, before trying again.
OOC:
MISHAP: You are completely ensnared, and you must roll MIGHT to break free. If you fail, you receive 1 point of damage to Agility, and you must roll again. Whoever escapes can help anyone still trapped. You also need to navigate around the cursed patch, and won’t make any progress on the map during this Quarter Day.

"Oh... Might of Nature... looks much more real then ghosts... and hurts too..." - Faramos commented seeing that they are not in the best situation, especially as he felt his tiredness from last encounter with ghost.
OOC:
Rolling... pending... Done.
Efter edit:
But nature was apparently the thing by which Faramos lived... and once again he didn't allow it to overcome him... only strengthening his the feeling of being the Chosen One of this woods within him...
"Ahh... LET ME GO... aaand... here we... UH! THAT's much better... BAD VINES!" - Faramos rebuked with his deep voice vines around him as they would be some kind of disobedient dog. Some could swear that some of the leaves contracted a little receiving this reprimand. But some would say that was only an illusion cased due the inner strength of angry dwarf voice.

"Here... give me a hand Brenda!" - Faramos extended his arm to help his childhood friend.

"But... where is Nindia!?" - he asked a little worried not seeing their companion at first.

Brenda finally leaves the cursed vine path, with the help of Faramos and Nindia

"Oh my God, I thought I was going to pass out right there. I need to rest for a while. Can you MAKE CAMP while I rest? It's almost evening. We can try to move further northeast tomorrow."

Springrise, 7th day.
Evening

The fire crackled softly as the last remnants of the boar were consumed, and the night deepened around them. The Whispering Woods were eerily quiet now, the constant rustle of leaves and distant animal calls having faded into a heavy silence. The trees, ancient and gnarled, stood tall and unmoving, their twisted branches forming a dark, impenetrable canopy that blotted out the stars.

Faramos and Nindia prepared for the night with a shared sense of unease, the memory of the ghostly girl’s scream still fresh in their minds. Though the warmth of the fire brought some comfort, the forest’s oppressive atmosphere seemed to press closer as the hours wore on.

Brenda, her sword within arm’s reach, drifted into a fitful sleep, her dreams quickly turning dark. She found herself in the midst of the Whispering Woods, but the trees were twisted and grotesque, their branches clawing at the sky like skeletal fingers. In her nightmare, she wandered aimlessly, the forest closing in around her until the trees themselves seemed to bend and twist into mocking, leering faces.

Springrise, 7th day.
Night

Nindia’s sleep was no more peaceful. She dreamed of the ghostly girl, standing at the edge of a dark abyss that seemed to stretch on forever. The child’s face was contorted in fear, her mouth opening in a silent scream as she pointed into the darkness. Nindia tried to reach her, but her feet were rooted to the ground, the shadows creeping up her legs, pulling her down into the void.

Faramos, too, was not spared. His dreams took him deep into the heart of the forest, where the ancient trees whispered to him in a language he could not fully understand. They spoke of old sorrows, of blood spilled, and of spirits that could not find peace. He saw visions of the forest’s past—a time when it was filled with light and laughter, now long gone, replaced by the creeping darkness that twisted it into the sinister place it had become.

Each of them thrashed in their sleep, the nightmares holding them in their grip, feeding on the fear that the forest had already planted in their hearts.

Yet, despite the horrors that plagued their dreams, the night passed without further incident. When the first light of dawn began to filter through the dense canopy, weak and pale though it was, it brought with it a sense of relief. The nightmares receded like a tide, leaving only the lingering unease of the Whispering Woods in their wake.
OOC:
There are no mechanical/game effects above. Just RP. No need for a sleepless condition (yet).
Springrise, 8th day.
Morning

Faramos was the first to wake, his eyes snapping open as the forest’s whispers faded into the background. He stretched, his muscles stiff, and looked around. Brenda was nearby, her face pale and drawn from the restless night.

"Let’s eat, break camp and continue on," Brenda said, rising to her feet as Nindia woke up. "We have to find out what’s holding that spirit here. Maybe then, we can end these nightmares for good."
OOC:
Everybody, please roll for Food and Water. After that, I guess it is time for Faramos to lead the way again... Right?

What do you do?

What nightmares? You also saw the ghost of the elf girl in the dream, didn't you? ? It was certainly a difference from my last night's bloody nightmares of my slaughtered sisters. Nindia smiles, but her body shivering restlessly give out her real feelings. I never planed becoming a Ghostbuster. Why don't we just leave it alone and move on?

"My sleep wasn't peaceful either. But I have slept about the forest and its trees... it was once... much more happy place... even for them." - Faramos ended engulfed in the fallowing thoughts of what could cause such behavior in those woods.

"Yes... we have to... help... the Spirits of this woods... otherwise... I think... the nightmares will not leave us... we were chosen." - Faramos said sounding more like seer then usual him. But he quickly recovered and simply said as they would be in some kind of ordinary inn:

"But first: lest eat something!" - with true passion of hungry dwarf.

Faramos managed to eat well, but conserving of what they have gathered. Then made him belly truly full, by crushing a few bones left after roasting a wild boar by Brenda with his teeth, which were exceptionally hard, even for a dwarf.

"Ah... nothing like good meal! Now I'm ready to go!"

Springrise, 8th day.
Morning

With the morning light, however dim, filtering through the dense canopy above, Faramos, Brenda, and Nindia set off in the direction the ghost had fled the night before.

They moved northeast. The air was cool and damp, thick with the earthy scent of moss and decaying leaves. The underbrush crunched softly beneath their boots, and the occasional rustle of leaves or snap of a twig was the only sound that accompanied their journey.

Springrise, 8th day.
Day

For hours, they trekked deeper into the forest, but the ghostly figure of the girl did not reappear. The Whispering Woods, though still foreboding, seemed almost peaceful, as if the horrors of the previous night were just a distant memory.

As the morning wore on, a growing sense of uncertainty settled over them. They had expected to find some sign that they were on the right path, but the forest gave them nothing.

"Maybe we’ve gone too far," Brenda suggested, pausing to catch her breath. Her brow furrowed as she looked around, frustration creeping into her voice. "Or not far enough and there is something further northeast. Or perhaps we’ve missed something, I don't know. This forest is full of secrets—if we’re not careful, we could wander in circles forever."

This is a great place to remind you of our special Travel action: EXPLORE. It takes a quarter day to do so. I had to create that because our map is hidden. See the link for more details. But anyway, what do you do?
Aug 21, 2024 8:05 am
OOC:
I'm presuming that our PCs feel that it may be the center of the forest here.
"Yes... I feel that we are getting near... something... important. That ghost's direction of running couldn't be random. I say... let's look around in those wood. Besides we should make sure that we went in right direction."
OOC:
I'm for spending this shift on exploring, if Nindia is ok with this too: let's do it:)
