Round fifteen, continued...
Newly freed from the grasping vines, the Lord Mayor Manticore roars, spiked tail lashing, and bounds over Eozindra to land next to Adran. He swipes a claw at Eozindra as he is in mid-air and then swipes and bites at Adran. He misses Eozindra, and the blow that would have hit Adran is blocked by his Shield of flying gears.
Adran takes 4 damage (edited to reflect that Adran's AC of 22 from Shield blocks the attack).

"Morik, no!" Tears run freely down Eozindra’s cheeks as the desperate situation becomes even more dire. "Back up, buddy! We need you here." She stabs at the man between her and her fallen dwarf friend, venting frustration in an audible cry.

ROUND SIXTEEN
(this was preceded by round fifteen, followed by round seventeen)
Ishi charges after the brunette half-elf, and gives Elysia a shy smile as he locks eyes with her while they flank Lord Mayor's Man Seven. "Go ahead, Aunty - we've got this one!" he calls over his shoulder to Elowin as he hacks at the robber with his greatsword. But Lord Mayor's Man Seven proves to be cannier prey than that and dodges his blows.
Elowin nods at the young elf and runs past him, though the archway and into the Chapel. She ends up standing protectively between the prone dwarf Morik and the Manticore. She desperately tries to bring down the Lord Mayor, but her blade bounces off of the matted fur and is deflected by the flicking wings of the monster. Lunea's sickle drifts 20' north, following Elowin.
Her arrival momentarily distracts Lord Mayor's Man Nine, who was preparing to crush Morik's skull. He instead directs a blow at Elowin, and then, when she absorbs his attack on her armored shoulder, he chooses a target for his second attack...he whirls and strikes out at the bard, hoping to take her by surprise while she's distracted by his boss. She is watching him like a hawk after his last blow, however, and she dodges the flanged weapon. Neither PC is harmed by these attacks!!
Morik stands up and draws upon the power of the earth all around them - so recently demonstrated with the Entangle spell - to heal himself. Morik casts a L2 Healing Word and gains 11 HP. He then swings his staff, trying to beat down Lord Mayor's Man Nine, but the robber easily steps out of the way.
Lord Mayor's Man Four continues trying to attack Adran, stabbing and slashing with his short sword.
Adran takes 4 piercing damage.
Lord Mayor's Man Seven, faced with opponents on either side of him, tosses aside his longbow and whips out his short sword. Feeling alone and abandoned, trying to fend off Elysia and Ishi, he attacks both of them.
Elysia takes 7 piercing damage.
Ishi takes 5 piercing damage.
Elysia looks daggers at Lord Mayor's Man Seven as he stabs her. But having heard her sister's sobs, Elysia speaks over the robber's head: "Ishi, I'm leaving him to you!" Elysia Disengages, and runs north through the archway into the Chapel. Her sister is clearly in desperate trouble, though she's not sure why she was yelling about Morik, as the dwarf seems fine at the moment (as does the artificer). The biggest threat is the...MANTICORE?!? Elysia takes this all in with a moment's glance but never slows her pace. She dives past Elowin and lunges at the abominable Lord Mayor with her rapier. The blade sinks into the beast just under its wing, driving in almost to the hilt. The manticore roars in pain and confusion, the sound rising into a wailing shriek as the body melts and shrinks. The tail falls away, and the wings split and fly up like embers from a campfire.
The Lord Mayor takes 14 damage.
In a moment, Elysia yanks her blade out of the Lord Mayor, back in human form.
Writhing in pain, the Lord Mayor whimpers. "Dweller...Dweller in the Deep...?" His eyes dart around desperately. His hands twitch, one hand clutching at the wound in his side, the other reaching out to his staff...which is sparking and fizzing on the ground where he dropped it by the archway next to Morik. His eyes fall on Elysia, holding the sword with his blood dripping from it. "Dweller in the Deep...save me!" He flings his hand toward Elysia, and a burst of noxious gas spews toward her.
Elysia gasps and coughs as the poison wracks her lungs.
Elysia takes 10 damage and falls to the ground, dying again.
"Sia!" Eozindra exclaims, stabbing the moldy Lord Mayor. The sword punches through his hand and into his chest. "Dweller...?" he mumbles, staring down at his hand twitching like a pinned butterfly. "The darkness...is so beautiful..."
The Lord Mayor takes 9 piercing damage and dies!
But Zin's eyes are only on her sister. "Hang on, I'll be right there!"
Eozindra gains 6 HP (L1 Healing Word on self)
Likewise focused on the fallen half-elf, Adran growls. "Dammit," So focused is he that he doesn't register the Lord Mayor's death. His fury is directed at the robber who has been attacking him. The artificer snarls at Lord Mayor's Man Four, stabbing and slashing. "You wanted my attention? You have it." Morik shot up to a sitting position inhaling a deep breath, just in time to see Elowin rushing in to protect him. His face flushed, embarrassed that he nearly died. A quick glance showed that most of his companions were badly hurt. After a quick word to rejuvenate himself as he stood up, Morik swung for all he was worth.

The biggest threat is the...MANTICORE?!? Elysia takes this all in with a moment's glance but never slows her pace. She dives past Elowin and lunges at the abominable Lord Mayor with her rapier. The blade sinks into the beast just under its wing, driving in almost to the hilt. The manticore roars in pain and confusion, the sound rising into a wailing shriek as the body melts and shrinks. The tail falls away, and the wings split and fly up like embers from a campfire.
The Lord Mayor takes 14 damage.
In a moment, Elysia yanks her blade out of the Lord Mayor, back in human form.

Writhing in pain, the Lord Mayor whimpers. "Dweller...Dweller in the Deep...?" His eyes dart around desperately. His hands twitch, one hand clutching at the wound in his side, the other reaching out to his staff...which is sparking and fizzing on the ground where he dropped it by the archway next to Morik. His eyes fall on Elysia, holding the sword with his blood dripping from it. "Dweller in the Deep...save me!" He flings his hand toward Elysia, and a burst of noxious gas spews toward her.
