Morgra’s eyes narrow as she listens to Graknok’s words, and she hisses in disgust. "You’re a fool, Graknok. Grimruk’s power is the only thing keeping us alive in this cursed place. Why are you saying that now? You really think these outsiders will help you seize control?"
Uggoth expression hardens, and he steps forward, his mace at the ready. "You have strayed from the path, Graknok. The spirits will not forgive such treachery. If you side with these outsiders, you will be damned with them. I will kill you all and let your bodies be redeemed by the prophet's magic."
Thrag, on the other hand, snarls in fury, gripping his axe tightly. "You’ve lost your mind, Graknok! Betraying Grimruk? Betraying us? I should cut you down where you stand!" You sense that Thrag's immediate instinct is to attack, but he hesitates and uses only bravado, torn between his loyalty to Grimruk and the respect he still has for Graknok.
About the orcs, there are actually 3 groups:
- Graknok - who would like to help you destroy the "fungi-zombies" and depose Grumkir
- Uggoth - who will never let you destroy the "fungi-zombies" or harm the "prophet"
- The remaining 2 orcs are either on the fence or loosely allied with Grumkir
Nindia, assuming you get to NEAR distance, describe your next words and roll for MANIPULATE with a +2 bonus: +1 from your reputation and +1 because there are now 5 people who want to destroy those "fungi-zombies", as Faramos called it. Your roll will affect the third orc group, Morgra and Thrag.
If you remain within SHORT distance, your roll will get a -1 modifier, for a total of MANIPULATE +1 (+1 from rep, +1 from larger group, -1 from distance)
Life in the Forbidden Lands is bloody, but you can often reach your goals without violence, through charm, threats, or sensible reasoning.
Make an opposed roll with your MANIPULATION against your adversary’s INSIGHT. Your chances are affected both by your bargaining position and
your Reputation (see page 40).
