Without saying anything, Seth nods his head in acceptance of the terms.

OOC:
Jed is still waiting to hear how the 15 deaths occurred. Or is it just about the high number in such a small town, which would mean something targeting the people or location
"Happy to take the money from these bible thumping folk," Jed nods his head at the amount, looking around at the others to see if anyone plans to back out.

"We’re all no strangers to death, and it’s many awful forms. So describe to us how these 15 are anymore different?"
Here's what I know:

The locations where they found the bodies range throughout the county. No one particularly young has been killed. All of the victims seem to have died in a violent way from a severe cutting stroke predominantly, but not exclusively, across the lower half of the body. All were alone and away from town when they were killed. They have all been laid to rest in the Pioneer Cemetery.

"So many questions, Ranger. Did the victims bleed to death? Where were they murdered? Is there anything that connects the victims? Are they family? Members of the same Church congregation? I could go on. We sure could use a more detailed briefing. Do you have a theory as to what in darnation is going on here?"

The Reverend listens to the Ranger and to the others' questions. "So your serial killer, as you call it... It might not be a man at all? Is that why we're here, Larson?"

"A well observed consideration Reverend," Jed compliments Ezekiel.

Looking to Calhoun he comments, "Maybe we need to take the relatives to task on those questions, as I get the impression Larson doesn't know much more. Maybe we should start with our employers, to get the list of names of the victims. What dya all think, we start there?"

Here's what I suggest. Since it's late and getting dark outside, we could all go to sleep, and tomorrow morning we'll start to investigate. What do you say ?

"Yes sir, with a little bottle of whiskey for company. Sleep well, y'all", Seth says as he rises, touches the rim of his Stetson and makes his way to the bar.

"Mind if’n I join ya there Calhoun?" Jed rises to follow Seth.
OOC:
Wondering if we could get rumours & gossip from the people in the saloon, with a little help from generously buying drinks
Sep 26, 2024 2:07 pm
"Be mighty glad of the company, Jed"
OOC:
That's a good plan! Is anyone around we can chat too, Marshall?

"I guess they have rooms we can rent here? Hopefully we can get some comida tambien."

"If you say so..." he answers to the Texas Ranger. "I've seen nunneries with a bedtime later than yours, Larson..."

How this always works in the films is they go up and order their whiskey and then get the barkeep talking, just slightly loud enough to catch the attention of anyone else standing at the bar. So we could try that, what do you think? Although, in the film, the bad men also start saying "this town ain't big enough for..." and then the shooting starts :-)
Jed steps up the bar and drops a coin unto it to get the barkeeps attention. As he does he looks around at the other patrons, trying to figure out who is drunk, who might be trouble, and who might be the talkative one
OOC:
Not sure if you need a roll for his Notice/Observation attempts?

Afrer getting the key, Nestor go to the bar and order some food. He takes his plate of stale bread and cured meat to sit. His intention is to watch Jed and Seth talk to people in the bar and be ready to jump in and help if any of the patrons get too surly.
