Why would Thalnazz get a suspicious look, he after all looks like a blood elf. Also thought I would mention that Meridia has removed the blindfold while they're in Horde territory. Being fell touched might be a boon here after all.
Meridia dismounts and walks up to the guard and presents that order scroll she was given a while back. We are travelling to Theramore on the hunt of the human mage.

High Elves have only recently been christened Blood Elves. Not everyone knows about them.
The tauren accepts the scroll, only now noticing the lithe elf. He reads over it and nods before handing it back. "Very well." and returns to his post.
Feb 8, 2017 8:50 pm
Once the Tauren returns to his post, Dormir descens from his wyvern and arranges himself in front of the group, eyebrow raised and hands in the air,"So ye've got me this far, ye should tell me about th' mage."

Gazam is happy to tell the story to any who will listen...

Many of the Deadwolf clan served at sea. The pay was crap, but for a chance at honor, who wouldn't go? Gazam was no different than those before him. But until you're tested, how could you know if your worthy of glory?

The destroyer Sunburst rode low on the water. It was full of weapons, gunpowder and shot. Low and slow. While nominally at peace with Orgrimmar, the humans had no business landing troops on the coast. Command wanted the waters south of Ratchet free of their meddling. It always pays to have the goblins owe you one.

From high in the mast, Gazam could see Sunburst. He shouted down it's disposition. The faster Felhammer, lightly fitted and rigged for pursuit, closed in. High on the wind, pinning the slower ship against the rocky coast. Magefire rained on the water, but the heavy cannons of the Horde ship blazed on the prow. The force of the shot shook the ship, slowed it in the water.

Sunburst was limping, and so the Felhammer closed in. Gazam tucked a belaying pin in his belt and grabbed a heavy chain and hook. As the two ships scraped amidships, so close was their passing, Gazam heaved the chain and hook into the rigging of the Alliance craft. Other hooks were flung, arrows and bolts and spears filed the air. The ships were fastened together.

A squadron of heavily armed orc warriors stormed across jumping the distance and hewing through the paladins protecting the Sunburst. A purple robed mage began raining more fire on the deck of the Felhammer. The screams of peons and soldiers alike threatened to turn the tide. Gazam threw his belaying pin, interrupting the mage. The orc shamans used the respite and flung the human wizard high into the air, but he, no she floated down landing on the crowsnest. A flash of light and the mage was gone.

They plundered the Sunburst of its weapons, bound no doubt for the Alliance rebels on Kalimdor. An explosion in the powderhold sent the destroyer to a shallow grave. The crew of the Felhammer cheered and sailed back for Orgrimmar.

It was on his return, his lucky belaying pin retrieved and in hand, that Gazam’s deeds turned sour. He rushed back to his family farm, pockets stuffed with booty and a belly full of heroic tales and glory. Smoke on the horizon sank his bright mood and he ran hard.

Everyone dead, livestock slaughtered, his family reaved. All around, the heavy footprints of horses. Shod hoofprints.Neighbours were trying to put out the fires. Centaurs, they cried, and often was the case that those people tried to recover land from the Horde. But they did not shoe their hooves.

On a far hilltop, a flash of purple. Someone stood, watching Gazam. He watched back, his heart filling with hate. Though it was too far to actually see, in his heart he imagines the female human mage gulped once in disquiet before she opened a portal back to her homeland.

His dark heart smoldered, burned with a lust for blood. He would need allies to breach the human capital, to see his vengeance wrought so deep in the human seat of power. And he knew where he could find them. Skull Rock.

And after that long winded explanation from the orc, the group has made it halfway across the Barrens toward Dustwallow Marsh.

I'll give everyone a few days to post before I move things forward by posting Sunday morning.

At some point either during the flight over or when the first make camp Meridia would have requested the gem back from Dormir. I should be able to put a fresh ward on the stone. It will stop the screaming. Ill need to tie it of again every night or so the keep the ward active.
Feb 13, 2017 1:15 pm
Upon request, Dormir tentatively passes the gem over to Meridia, careful not to let it too far from his reach. "If t' keep the screams at bay, ye have me trust... just for a bit, though."
Feb 13, 2017 1:40 pm
Turning toward Gazam once the story had concluded, "Yer sure ye saw the mage at yer home?"
Feb 13, 2017 1:41 pm
OOC:
Well look at that. Monday already? Oops.
The rocky divider over which Dustwallow Marsh lay came into sight. As you get nearer, the wind picks up and you get a strong whiff of musk. You should reach the marsh by sundown. To your right far in the distance, you see twisted, sharp vegetation reaching into the sky.
Feb 14, 2017 4:21 am
Gazam grunts at the dwarfs question, but he doesn't answer.

"Watch for quillboar, an' crocolisks. Da boars are mean, too."
Feb 14, 2017 2:23 pm
With Gazam's warning of potential dangers, everyone pays more attention to their surroundings.

Meridia's keen elven eyes glimpse movement in nearby brush.

Solemnly, Dormir responds, "Ye'll have yer vengeance, orc, and ye'll have it with me shield at yer side."
At the commencement of his proclamation, Dormir's eyes close briefly. "Brings t' mind th' famous dwarven poem:

One upon th' hill, two within th' mine,
Th' goblins invaded by numbers tenfold,
Gold was their goal, but their plunders were not,
Dwarven wrath was exacted,
Goblin repentance was given,
And those goblins in particular were never again a problem."

Looking around at the group, Dormir notices most of the others not paying attention to his reciting of his forefathers' most famous poem.
"Aye, it doesn't translate well t' Common..."

Gazam nods along with the dwarf. "That is good poem."
Feb 15, 2017 3:19 am
Meridian tenses, Over there, something is in the bushes!
Feb 15, 2017 5:05 pm
Meridia focuses everyone's attention to the bushes. Only a short moment later 6 squat humanoids reveal themselves with warty brow, tough skin and two short tusks sprouting from their piglike snouts. A thick mane of sharp quills spills down their backs.
Three throw crude javelins at you, but their element of surprise is taken and you manage to dodge their volley.

Begin combat. NPCs have taken their turn. Now PCs in no particular order. NPCs will go once all PCs have taken their actions. I'll give you 3 days before I say you hide and I post again Saturday.

Gazam flings out his hand, his rites flashing green light. He releases fel energy.

His hand flashing to the totem at his neck, Mul'Zeb mutters "Hehe, Bwonsamdi, we be sendin' some spirits ya way..." His other hand brings a finger to his temple and his totem glows an ominous purple. He makes eye contact with one of the quillboar.

If I hit, it says I can use a reaction to apply a penalty. Not sure if what constitutes the reaction, but if applicable, I'll give it disadvantage on it's next attack.

Rolls

Mind Blast - (1d20+4, 1d8)

1d20+4 : (4) + 4 = 8

1d8 : (4) = 4

OOC:
I think the way that world is when the target makes an attack, you can use your reaction (the thing that you normally spend making attacks of opportunity etc) to give it disadvantage.
Uttering arcane formulae under her breath Meridia unleashes 3 bolts of force all of which slam into a single foe. Anyone familiar with the spell would observe that the form of the bolts is not what is expected, tainted green with the fell and of twisted forms, the the green in the mages eyes has greatly faded with the expelling of the fell energies held inside her.
OOC:
I must be doing something wrong with the mana system. If my understanding is correct I can cast a grand total of one first level spell (at mana cost 5) and one cantrip (mana cost 2) before I am effectivly out of juice, this is way below the power curve of a normal 2nd level wizard (3 1st level spells and unlimited cantrips). Sure mana regens over time, but I have to essentially take an extended short rest for what is effectively regain 1 cantrip per hour. If I've missed something (other then the whole forcing a spell thing, because that's not really going to help either), let me know. Otherwise I might need to request a bit of house ruling to at least regain free cantrips.

Cantrips have zero mana cost. The mana cost of a level 1 spell is 2. A level 2 costs 3 mana. You have 6 base mana plus 1 bonus mana. And you just used that 1 mana you got from the contact with the gem. ;) I just checked the Google Doc. The information is there. Maybe there was an old version you saved and I neglected to mention an update? Magic systems can be tricky.
Gazam's blast of fel energy slams into the ground beside a Quilboar (Q1), leaving a dark sizzling divot in the earth.
As Mul'Zeb stares down a beady eyed Quilboar (Q2), the creature blinks quickly and shakes it head after meeting the troll's gaze.
Meridia's slightly fel-tainted energy bolts race toward a Quilboar (Q3) reaching for a spear. The bolts slam into the creature, knocking it off balance before it slumps to the ground.
Of the three who charged, Dormir intercepts the center (Q4) and right (Q5) adversaries. Holding one at bay (Q4) with his shield, the dwarf cuts a wide gash into the other creature's chest (Q5) as you see rage build in its eyes.
Seeing its companion injured by the great bearded one, a Quilboar (Q6) flanks Dormir and stabs the dwarf in the shoulder holding his shield (take 4 damage).
While one is down, the other two Quilboar take up spears once more, striking Gazam in the leg and slicing Mul'Zeb across the arm (take 4 damage each).
