I came down the stairs case just behind me. It leads up to a hidden door. I saw someone come in that way I assumed that had been you.

Wemmick points behind him toward the path he came down.

The person who came in that way was dropped off by a flying creature a few hours ago now.

"So... We will be moving along. If you want to join us traveler, do you mind sharing your name?"
Oct 14, 2024 5:44 pm
"Wemmick. But most who know me call me Wemm. Yourself?"
Oct 14, 2024 11:08 pm
Good meeting you. I'm Sylvandur Hathil Amdir, elven druid apprentice, but humans call me Van.
Oct 15, 2024 10:50 am
Alright, let's continue. Elyse, would you lead the way?
Oct 15, 2024 12:06 pm
OOC:
You want the jeweler merchant in front? Maybe the unkown new warrior up front where you can keep an eye on him?
Oct 15, 2024 12:23 pm
OOC:
@Psybermagi I was thinking the same thing LOL
Oct 15, 2024 12:32 pm
Wemm, I am the youngest of a family of jewelers. The three of us are on a one week expedition to find a supply or raw, uncut gems for my family to harvest in partnership with the folks from the Manor. As Sylvandur mentioned, you are welcome to come with us, or if you are in a hurry to get back to civilization the Griffin rider will be back in three days and you can meet him at the entrance to crevasse by the secret door.
Elyse pauses for a response...
OOC:
in the answer is tagging along, she says:
Well Wemm, maybe you and Blornvid can take the lead and Sylvandor and I will follow along.
OOC:
If the answer is they will go meet the griffon master: farewells all around. and the three of us continue on our journey into the depths.
Oct 15, 2024 5:22 pm
Blornvid eyes Wemm as he answers Elyse, "Aye. That works for me."

Psybermagi says:
OOC:

OOC:
Hahaha, not really walking in front! just pointing the right direction since she is the jeweler...

For answer Wemmick will nod his head, put is hand on the hilt of his blade, raise his lantern and begin to move in the direction the party was moving prior to him calling out to them

As you make your way out to the light of day, down the passage with the small streambed, Elyse does note that the rock formations are about right for the area to have gemstones of some kind. Though with a settlement right in the area she doubt that there are any easily accessible veins nearby as those that are easily accessible tend to be harvested as soon as they are found. If there were any mines in the town they must have been connected the the building at the end of the cavern with the strange ooze that attacked Blornvid.

The passage leads downhill and narrows a bit, though still quite tall, before opening up morea and you find yourselves under an overhang that opens into a deep cleft in the mountain side. The old trail continues under the overhang and splits with one path leading up the ravine while the other path leads down hill. The path, like the cavern village is old and well worn. Some plants are scattered around the ravine floor with occasional brush and even a couple trees where the soil is deep enough to support them. Remembering the stone steps your observed from above you begin searching the area and find them after a couple minutes. The stairs are well crafted but not uniform. In fact you believe that they would be quite hard to notice if you were not expecting to find them. As you look then over you note that there are signs of use, a faded foot-print and other traces, indicate the stairs have seen recent use within the last couple of days. The size and shape of the print lets you surmise that whatever left it was likely a monstrous biped slightly larger than a human.

Van takes some time to analyse the prints, maybe he understands enough these prints to know which creature or animal makes them...

Rolls

Checking prints - (2d6)

(63) = 9

Based on the print size, shape, and depth you guess it is something like a ogre, troll, formian, ettin, or cyclops. or one of the other lesser giant kin. All of these races stand 8-12 feet tall where true giants are known to be 15-30 feet tall. Ogres are known to be large, tough, and strong. Trolls are renown for their ability to heal from wounds quickly with innate magic regeneration. Ettins are recognizable by their 2 heads and feared due to being able to use both hands at once as good as others use a single arm. Cyclops are famous for their large single eyes, throwing stones, and wielding heavy clubs.

Van shares this information with the rest...

"We should be careful, a battle with such foe would NOT be easy.."
Then he takes his sling and readies a stone, ready to shoot if necessary
Oct 16, 2024 5:27 pm
"Aye." Blornvid readies his axe.

The sky above is still full with the light of day and a gentle breeze wafts down the ravine from above.

Up the stairs, up the ravine, down the raving, or DM choice (toward the nearest story content, good, bad, or ugly)?
Oct 17, 2024 3:20 am
Wemmick draws his rapier and looks to Elyse and quietly says. "Which direction? With your expertise I imagine you have the best idea of where we should go."
Oct 17, 2024 5:19 pm
OOC:
I'd say follow DM choice, if Elyse doesn't have any preference :)
