My idea right now is for an Oni who descended from shuten doji and thus who's lineage is linked to destruction rejecting their nature and pursuing the path of the buddha

this is what I'm currently working on for weaknesses and abilities, tell me if i did something wrong

Abilities

+ 3 ○ strong
+ 5 ○ tough
+ 2 ○ iron willed
+ 2 ○ attack
+ 4 ○ Vigorous
+ 2 ○ Combat expert


Weaknesses
- 2 ○ code of conduct (Buddhism)
- 3 ○ accidental transformation
- 2 ○ fear (beans and strong smells)
- 1 ○ kind hearted
- 1 ○ naive
- 2 ○ obsession (enlightenment)
- 1 ○ impulsive
- 2 ○ stubborn
- 1 ○ Vulnerability (sharp objects)

Looks good so far, Just want to ask what's the nature of his Accidental Transformation. Besides, is this yokai more susceptible to sharp objects?

Finally, what's about the shapeshifting? It it's just your human form, you don't need an ability for that (all yokai have it for granted)

Oh, one more question: what type of Youkai your character is? You mentioned a Kishin in the start. I ask because Oni is kind of an umbrela term, as far as I'm aware.

Shape-shifting is because I wanted the character to grow taller when using their powers, tha nature of accidental transformation is when they drink alcohol their personality changes as their oni nature grows stronger and yes they are susceptible to sharp objects which I based of Japanese myths of oni. Speaking of Oni, Kishin is the General term for Oni I believe so yes they are kishin

Ok, I don't think shapeshifter would be either appropriate or necessary for a slight increase in size (specially if no system-wise change will come out of it), actually, that would instead be a weakness! The Awkward Size one, maybe a -1.

Talking about kishin, I don't know if you're aware or not, but there is a Kishin in the R+V series, you can look it up in the wiki online.

Yep I know that's where I got this the idea oni and kishin are interchangeable because it says this, Kishin (Demon God). A general term used to describe all powerful oni (demons).

Sorry if I'm understanding this wrong but I took that to mean kishin and oni were the same thing just that some people say kishin and others say oni

Well, I'm not knowledgeable enough in Shinto folklore to say that with certainty, but I think oni is an umbrela term, and there are lot's of different kinds of oni.

That being said, I won't hold it against you, as I'm not sure, and neither will the game try to be accurate with that sort of thing. That being said, Kishin is either a more distinguished name and also has the precedent of a character in the series calling himself one; besides, I'd say it's a cooler name than oni.

Also since you are saying I get 3 points back I will gladly take it, how about I put those points into arcane magic with the explanation that they have learned some buddhist sealing arts.

Fair enought, but if you're talking about sealing arts, you should pick Witchcraft magic (it's just a name convention), which is the one which let's you add weaknesses to your target.

I have an idea, id like to put limited uses 1 on my witchcraft magic and adding 1 more vigorous so they have massive durability as is on theme for an oni

No problem.

Ahem sorry for all the alterations but I just found an ability and weakness I probably should have that being the knowledge ability for buddhist scripture and practices (at 3 levels) and ineptitude at deception because oni are never false (also level 3)

Fine, remember though that knowledge is an special ability that only costs half to obtain (so having an odd number in it isn't a good idea, unless you want two different knowledges).

By the way, you mustn't worry to notify some little change. Before we start, I do then a checkup on all PCs.
