The loss of your tablet at the start of a job plus the thought of the cost of repairing the damn thing is frustrating, but at least you were able to push PB King on the price of the job some. You can take a little solace in that.

Claire and Teddy moved cautiously with the group, keeping an eye out for casualties. She trusted her companions to protect her if shit hit the fan. Her piercing blue eyes scouted ahead diligently.
OOC:
Oh yeah, I have just a tool kit for some reason. Electronics would have been more in character lol.

Rolls

Black - (1d10+3)

(9) + 3 = 12

Red - (1d10)

(3) = 3

The field is quiet and serene. A gentle breeze blows through the tall grass. As you continue across the field, you notice the terrain is getting bumpier and the grass gets taller. It is well above your knees when suddenly Loan Shark, Run and Ham-Bone each tumble into the grass after stepping into unseen, and oddly deep potholes in the ground. Their attention had been keenly focused on the perimeter rather than on their footing. Luckily for Claire, she noticed Theo move around one of the holes and avoided stepping in to one herself.
OOC:
Gentlemen: give me self-control rolls to avoid vocal reactions to the unexpected pain. Then go ahead and write up your reactions based on that. The damage to Loan Shark is on the left leg, for Ham Bone and Run its the right leg.

Rolls

Loan Shark - Stun Damage - (1d10)

(7) = 7

Home Run - Stun Damage - (1d10)

(4) = 4

Ham-Bone - Stun Damage - (1d10)

(2) = 2

As Ham feels his legs come out from under him and the sickening feeling that he is falling, an involuntary Shiiiit escapes his lips. Ham twists to save himself but with a loud grunt falls hard on his right leg.

For a brief moment, it seems as though you may have caught a lucky break. But you all know that's not how things work in the Loss and sure enough you see a large portion of the grass ahead start to shift and move counter to the breeze.

Nine casualties emerge from their torpor in response to the noise and are five shambles away.
OOC:
So I need Self-Control checks from everyone. This will be level 1 checks vs Trauma, you never get totally accustomed to seeing a mob of Casualties coming your way. Success, you're fine, fail and you gain 1 threat to Trauma. We also need to roll initiative. Roll 1d10 and add your SPD to it.

If you do not move, the mob will be in melee distance to you in five turns.

Roger that, answers Ham-Bone as he unslings his rifle and holds it the ready. As Casualties begin to rise out of the grass, his throat tightens and sweat beads on his forehead.
OOC:
So that is a point of Trauma for Ham. I wonder who my next character will be?

Claire tensed as the zombies shambled closer. She quickly patted Theodore, telling him to move closer to Ham for support. The field seemed tricky to maneuver in, so she surveyed their options.

Whacking the grass a couple of times, Run tries to get a feel of what's around him in terms of holes to secure his footing, "You know the drill guys, stay behind me when they get close, pick them off if you can"

OOC:
Valcos: Your self-control roll was actually a crit fail. I can't seem to find an actual consequence of Crit Fails in the rules as written so I'm just treating it as a fail, but you lose two trauma rather than one. Also, I need an Initiative roll from you. Just 1d10 + SPD.

All: in continuing to read the rules, I realized that if you do not have a skill you are supposed to roll against your potential rather than just an unmodified roll. so basically, let's say you wanted to punch someone but have no Unarmed skill. You would roll 1 black die. If that result is less than or equal to your STR (the Potential related to Unarmed) you succeed if not you fail. Also, in cases where you would normally be allowed to use extra charges to add to your score, you cannot do so when defaulting to potentials.

Again all previous results will stand, but moving forward we will play it like this.
Theodore shuffles through the grass over towards Ham, as Claire scans the field as best she can, but her eyes keep landing on the mob of rotting carcasses that just popped out of the grass. She has a hard time focusing on anything else.
