OOC:
Thanks @spaceseeker, the floor plans are a great help. Just to be sure, did Reptile hear the voices of our DungeonBuster friends?

What is this doing here? Theran wonders, noting that the small clod of soil is very out of place. Who came through here?

Theran will look around, making sure they're alone in the cellar.

@MaJunior - Theran can roll an INT (Investigation) check or a WIS (Perception) check, reflecting whether he is looking for expected clues (Investigation) or just trying to observe anything out of the ordinary (Perception).

OOC:
Reptile may have an opinion on this.

Reptile whispers back to Myrtha & Theran, "I think that I hear the rest of our party outside the inn."
Nov 4, 2024 2:02 pm
"Out the cellar door, or through the kitchen and out the front door? I favor the latter..." Myrtha said as she drew her blade for the second time this evening. As was obvious in her framing of the question, she seemed decided to intervene, the only question being the tactical path to the others.
OOC:
She can obviously persuaded not to head out. A part of her actually wants to grab Bertram on the way up and use him as leverage, if necessary. But that part of her hasn't spoken yet.

Reptile calls down to the others about hearing the other Dungeon Busters. Still at the door, he hears more combat repartee:

Chase: "I don't want to have to kill you Donovan. Come to your senses."
Someone else: "Looks like you may the loser, Alan! Maybe you should follow the murderer's advice and run, huh?"
Another speaker: "You don't want to have to kill me?? I think you're misreading this situation. You are pretty good. It's a shame you didn't sleep long enough to get taken."
Yet another voice: "If you think I'm going to turn my back on these thugs, you're wrong. Something has taken hold of them, they're idiots, but they're still dangerous...I don't want to be responsible for the deaths of heroes!"
Nov 4, 2024 11:56 pm
"If we go rushing out to fight them, we're proving their point and undermining the fact we eacaped at all," Theran counters, as he searches the area.

Looking more closely at the floor in the darkness, Theran considers: ::Why would a dirt clod be all the way over here? It could have been kicked, perhaps, but then it would have been in pieces. No, it's much more likely that it was caked to someone's boot and then it fell off as that person was walking around here.

::But why would someone be walking around here, in an empty corner?::

Theran feels the wall, and what his eyes can't see his fingers detect: there is a slight edge to the wall here: a part of the wall that juts out infinitesimally in a vertical line. It's either a bit of construction that was bricked in, or possibly a secret door! Theran begins probing and tapping along the wall around it, but doesn't immediately find a switch or pressure plate.
Nov 5, 2024 2:43 pm
Theran will return to the others so he can speak quietly. "I found something. I think it's a hidden door, but I'm not sure where the latch is. Help me open it."

He will return to work on opening the possible doorway.

Reptile says, "There is activity outside but it says that all the town isn't bad. Right now lets discover what lies beyond that hidden door."

"Come on Myrtha." as he indicates the way to go there.
Nov 5, 2024 8:25 pm
Myrtha displayed incomprehension.

"We can’t let them fight on their own! We had to get rid of the body, and we did it. Don’t see how exploring a concealed tunnel helps them, or Joseph."

Despite her disagreement, she moved towards the spot where Theran was examining the wall. "What’s the plan Theran? It must be good if it’s worth risking the lives of our companions.
OOC:
I’m laying the rhetoric a bit thick, because I believe she thinks that exploration can wait, and she’s still feeling guilt over leaving the two others behind…

Despite her opposition to staying in the cellar, she will help looking for the concealed passage.
Nov 5, 2024 8:46 pm
"Possibly. If we go rushing out, we just get ourselves caught too. The body can still be pinned on us -- it can be found here, and it's a simple thing to point a finger. We need something to incriminate the people who are really doing this, or escaping at all was pointless " Theran says over his shoulder as he tries to find the release.

In examining, poking, and prodding around the join in the wall, the group discovers that one of the torch sconces is hinged. When it is pulled, it triggers a mechanism that causes the section of the eastern wall to slide back, revealing an unlit chamber beyond.

"Hmmm… what is this now?"

Myrtha, blade and shield prepared before her, steps into the unlit room, hoping Theran will bring the light in with him.

Don't know If Theran brings light but I'm positive Reptile does have a torch lite. He supplies light for Myrtha.

Curious Reptile will step into the hidden room to see what is what, "Now this has to be interesting." Ex-Watchman him has seen criminal have such room but he never expected it to be here. "We may have found the planning area for our current troubles." His background is showing through a bit.

"Indeed."

Myrtha looked around, her attention immediately attracted to the ladder. Her eyes glided up. This might be their way to exit the Inn unseen.
OOC:
We lit an oil lamp, I believe Reptile's, once we closed the wine cellar door. I thought Theran was holding it, but maybe I'm misremembering.
Nov 6, 2024 5:28 pm
OOC:
LOL. Yeah. Reptile has a hooded lantern and not a torch. Your memory is tons better than my faulty one.
Nov 6, 2024 5:29 pm
OOC:
Reptile extinguished his lantern once he lit torches, to save oil.
"My my... whose room is this, I wonder? Might be a good place for the body, at least for now..." Theran will also move in to investigate the room.

OOC:
Double Drats. I take it then he swiped a wall torch. LOL. I need to pay more for my rental brain.
Reptile agrees, "Yes that is an excellent idea."
