Hambul lunged forward, his weapon arcing toward the nearest skeletal with deadly intent. But the damned creature twisted unnaturally at the last moment, and Hambul’s strike swung wide, slamming harmlessly into the stone floor with a hollow clang. Before he could recover, the skeletal retaliated with cold precision. Its black iron blade flashed in the dim green light, slicing across Hambul’s side with a sharp, metallic hiss. The cut burned with an unnatural cold, as if the blade carried a fragment of the dark magic animating the creature.
Kruul, undeterred by the frenzied battle, roared as he swung his rusted weapon with brutal force. His blade struck true, slamming into the ribcage of another skeletal and shattering it with a bone-rattling crack. The creature staggered, its glowing eyes dimming as fragments of its spine splintered and fell to the ground.
The remaining skeletal figures pressed their attack, their movements relentless and unnervingly coordinated. Black iron blades flashed through the air, seeking any opening in Kruul and Hambul’s defenses. Yet, despite the onslaught, neither warrior faltered. Hambul deflected each incoming strike with a deft flick of his weapon, his movements precise despite the pain of his fresh wound. Kruul, standing firm, parried the blows aimed at him with raw strength, his sheer presence a wall of unyielding defiance.
The skeletal warriors hissed faintly as their attempts failed, their empty eye sockets glimmering faintly in frustration. The green light from the chandelier above cast an eerie glow over the chaotic scene, shadows dancing wildly across the stone walls. Blood seeped from Hambul’s side, and Kruul’s muscles burned with effort, but together they held the line. For now, the damned could not breach their defenses, and the battle hung precariously in the balance.
