The students of Class 1-B shuffle into their new homeroom, finding it… stark. The classroom is dimly lit, the blinds half-closed, casting soft shadows across the room. There are no banners, no personalized enchanted gemstones on the desks, no cozy decorations on the walls—just the basics. Each desk is in somewhat straight rows, facing the front where the blackboard is bare except for a single chalk line scrawled halfway across, as if Mizore had started to write something and then thought better of it. The air is chilly, thanks to Mizore’s icy presence, which seems to make the temperature drop a few degrees.

At the front of the room sits Mizore Shirayuki, leaning on her chair, her usual indifferent expression firmly in place. Her purple sidelocks, framing her cool, observant eyes, which seem to scan the room lazily, pausing here and there with an unreadable expression. She has one hand in her pocket and the other resting casually on a piece of paper in front of her. No smile, no warm welcome—just a quiet, unimpressed assessment of her new students.

When everyone has taken their seats, she sighs softly, as if preparing for something mildly inconvenient. She addresses them in a low, even voice.

"Well, I suppose I should start by saying… welcome to Class 1-B." There’s a pause, and she glances at the clock as though even that short greeting has taken up too much time. "I’m Mizore Shirayuki, your homeroom teacher. I’m here to teach, guide… and, you know, make sure none of you get into serious trouble. But beyond that? My philosophy is pretty simple. Respect the academy’s rules—or don’t. As long as you’re discreet and avoid any, let’s say, ‘collateral damage,’ we’ll get along just fine." She shrugs, almost like the whole notion of homeroom is nothing more than a passing formality.

Her gaze flicks to a few of the students, as though sizing them up. "Now, I know some teachers—" she pauses here, her lips curling into a faint, almost imperceptible smirk, "—some teachers like to make a big fuss over introductions, posters, class bonding, and… whatever else it is they do over in Class 1-A. I don’t really see the point. You’re here 'to learn', or so it is said, not to gush over each other."

She casts a cool glance toward the window, looking lost in thought for a second. The class might notice her gaze drifting to where the Headmaster’s office is, but she quickly snaps her attention back, her expression returning to its detached calm.

"You’ll introduce yourselves in time, I’m sure, but if you’re here expecting open arms and all that… consider applying for a transfer," she says with a half-smile that’s equal parts sarcasm and faint, dry humor. A few students chuckle uncomfortably, and she takes a seat on the corner of her desk, crossing her arms.

"But let me be clear on one thing," she continues, a faint glint in her eye. "Class 1-B has a reputation. We don’t do things the loud, flashy way. We do things the smart way. The clever way. And unlike Class 1-A, we don’t have to parade around to prove we’re capable." Her tone is even, but there’s an undeniable edge to it, a subtle jab at her rival class.
Mizore’s gaze falls on Adela Beran, the tall, stoic golem girl who had actually stood up against her during her clash with Kurumu earlier. The faintest hint of a smile—genuine, if fleeting—touches Mizore’s face as she recalls the way Adela had held her ground.

"Adela, right?" she says, her tone marginally warmer than before. "You’re… interesting." She leans back, her posture relaxed but her eyes sharp, appraising. "Keep it up, and I might actually remember your name by the end of the year." She lets the comment hang in the air.
Minutes of silence pass by, with Mizore's eyes locked on a cabinet at the back of the room. "Oh right. I must add that I have a particular interest for secrets and uh... Stories. If you have one, and would like my favorable view, we could talk..."

Lín Jìng listens to the introductory lecture and nods along. When the topic touches upon stories and secrets, she doesn't say anything, but subtly reaches out to the teacher's mind.

We could. Secrets being secrets, many caveats apply, such as not discussing this in the open, and waiting for a more appropriate opportunity.

Hanami was seated in the middle seat of the front row, scrutinizing Mizore Shirayuki. The initial part of the teacher's introduction left her wondering if this class might be for brainless delinquents, but as Mizore went on, Hanami started to come around. It seemed like Mizore simply took a no-nonsense, hands-off approach to managing her class, and that suited Hanami just fine. It reminded her of her mentor back in her village, except less crotchety and more disinterested. Hm... She could at least try not to seem so damn lazy, but it's better than the other option. Incredible looks aside, Kurumu Kurono just rubbed her the wrong way based only on the commencement ceremony.

During the following silence, she was silently going over her schedule. Lessons start at 8:00 AM... Reasonable. I'll get up at 6:30 so I can get some physical activity in every morning. Electives... I'll need to take Youkai Studies and Magics for sure. Arts, I could probably do without. Fighting... Maybe. If it's sweaty hand-to-hand, no way.

As Hanami pulled a lollipop out of her doctor bag and unwrapped it, what Mizore said caught her attention. Secrets and stories? She had none off the top of her head, but she was sure she could think of something. She thought to herself as she slipped the lollipop into her mouth.

Matsui leaned back in his chair, casually crossing his arms as Mizore delivered her dry welcome. The stark classroom, devoid of the usual fluff, suited him fine. He didn’t need banners or sparkly stones to feel at home here; he was more interested in the atmosphere Mizore’s icy presence created—chilled, detached, and devoid of pretense. A lot like her.

When she mentioned her "interest" in secrets and stories, Matsui’s expression remained neutral, barely suppressing an eye roll. He wasn’t about to buy into her half-smirk offer for any kind of favorable treatment. Sure, he had stories—considering who his parents were, it would be more surprising if he didn’t, but that came with enough baggage on its own. He’d rather keep his head down and avoid any unnecessary entanglements with teachers, Mizore included. Matsui wasn’t here to curry favor; he’d rely on his own merit, not on some whispered secrets.

As the room remained wrapped in Mizore's chilled silence, he allowed himself the faintest smile. Class 1-B was already shaping up to be a lot more interesting than the so-called "friendly" environment of 1-A.

Adela would stroll in and sit down towards the back of the class. Listening to their teacher made the golem tilt her head a bit. Teachers didn’t normally act this seemingly lazy and cold.

Though it was likely that much like herself, there was a lot going on with Mizore under the surface. Though her interest in secrets was…interesting to say the least. When addressed, Adele would nod her head. "Ok." She simply stated in a dull voice.

She was excited to see what would happen, though first she pulled out her sketchbook and looked around at her fellow classmates. Her gaze fell in Hanami for a moment before she turned back to her sketchbook and began to draw in it.

Giving continuation to her discourse, while stretched in her chair, Mizore says, as if replying someone, "Rest assured I care not for the status of the secrets, their secrecy or what not, my interest lies only on discovering them. In fact, you may know that I worked in a newspaper for some time, and our job in there is exactly this one, to reveal what is hidden, understood?"
Hanami, with her great intellect and analytical mind, did in fact induced already quite the secret, and it concerned no one else but her own teacher!!

"Now, let me elaborate on my didactics: I'm a liberal teacher at heart, and my methods, though unorthodox, will assure your development into great thinking minds. It has two principles, freedom of thought and growth through hardship. For the first, you guys must know that having schedules, syllabus, etc. all of that stuff, is only delay. You guys shall use your rational, critical minds, to conclude by yourselves what to study; the second point is this: actually having a teacher handholding you through the apprenticeship process will only hinder you. We will strive for you guys to pest- I mean, require me, as least as possible, is that understood?"

"Well then, if anyone has any questions... Don't bother asking, I already spoke too much today, my throat is sore."
What Hanami discovered, through inspecting her teacher's demeanor, her past and her possible reasons for being there, is this: No way this lazy and disagreeable woman would turn out to be a teacher... There must be something to it. How she keeps looking at the window... to the headmasters office???
While Mizore was there, talking so much, a true rarity for her, Matsui could almost break his placid and cool appearance, when the teacher's head just slipped up from his desk corner. She was just there, staring at him, inches away; and despite that, she also was there in her chair, speaking!

She stares at Matsui for some good awkward minutes, the air around him turning gelid. "So you're Tsukune's kid, right?" More awkward silence ensues, her cold expressionless face is broken by a very slight grin, from which sticks out her lollipop's stick, her pale face blushing gently, "Quite like him... Not in his cuter pre-vampire form, but I digress... Hey I'm keep a look at you."

As she started sliding down, to fade below the desk, she suddenly stops, "By the way, if you have any news on your dad: his new address, routine, whereabouts, measurements, favorite (and least favorite) foods, drinks and colors, etc. I'd like you to share with me, your cool teacher." And with that, she hides below the desk (still on everyone's sight).
Hanami finishes her induction: She's only in here... All of this, her job... It's all to stalk on the Headmaster!!! (and apparently his son?!!!)
Nov 5, 2024 7:16 am
You can't be serious... There's no way. The minimal respect Hanami was forming for Mizore had vanished in an instant. She'd thought Mizore was the slightly better option compared to Kurumu Kurono, but apparently her teacher was an unrepentant super-stalker. In the end, the two of them are just different flavors of pervert...

Annoyed to high hell now, Hanami crushed her own lollipop between her teeth and swallowed it. "Oh, I've got a secret I want to reveal, Miss Shirayuki. It involves you, actually. You're just here to stalk Headmaster Aono, aren't you?" She turned her sharp gaze from the Mizore at the front of the class to the one at Matsui's desk that seemingly escaped most of the class's notice. "And his son, too!" Inwardly, she was surprised that Matsui was the headmaster's son, as she only heard his first name uttered by Aika earlier. She was just now putting together his complete name. Matsui Aono... There's more to this tieless vampire than I thought. She spared him a curious glance, but he wasn't the one she was focused on currently.

"Tch... Independent study, my ass! You just don't want to put in the effort. Well, if you're going to waste our time, I might as well teach your class for you. It'd be better than whatever half-assed lesson you could cook up while you're distracted with other things!" Hanami glared at Mizore challengingly.

Adela looked up from her sketch book as this all went on. She may have seemed distracted but she had quite impressive hearing for a being made of clay. These revelations blew her mind though, the fact that their teacher was just a lazy stalker. Though this all made a lot of sense, her eyes then turned to Matsui, and that was the headmaster's son.

She turned Mizore and just says. "Wow. That's really pathetic actually. Aren't you supposed to be grown up? Move on, also if you try to bad touch that boy over there." She gestures to Matsui. "I will punt you out that window." She gestures to one at the side of the classroom.

Even with his heightened senses, Matsui hadn’t heard Mizore approach his desk. Her silent presence caught him off guard, and he jumped slightly as her purple hair appeared at his shoulder, eyes cool and observant. He quickly swallowed his nerves, his heart racing just a beat faster as he felt the weight of her gaze settle on him.

"Ah… yeah, that’s me," He managed, his voice calm but edged with the faintest tremor of frustration. "I’ll be sure to ask my dad to pay you a visit... and catch up. As soon as he can be bothered to see his own son, that is."

Matsui hadn’t meant for that last part to come out so bitter, but it slipped, a flicker of the resentment he tried to keep buried. The mention of his father—Headmaster Tsukune Aono—had been lingering in the air since he’d first walked into Class 1-B. He was sure the rumors were spreading through the school, making his identity feel less like a fact and more like a weight hanging over him.

Gritting his teeth, Matsui rises from his seat and mounts his desk in one fluid motion. "Alright listen up, cause I’m only gonna say this once! My name is Matsui Aono. I’m the son of Tsukune Aono and Moka Akashiya, the only two living Shinso vampires in existence."He waits a breath to allow the murmurs to begin and the information to sink in. "Now forget everything I just told you! My merit at this school, and as a monster, will be based on my own ability. Not the status, or achievements, of my parents, and anyone who has an issue with that can come to me personally." He smacks fist into an open palm, to emphasise his point at the end.

"If you want to keep any eye on me, then prepared to be amazed. I’ll turn this school upside down." He says looking down at Mizore. His grin betraying absolute confidence in his statement.

At Hanami's words, the Mizore who was siting at her chair, speaking, suddenly shatters into ice shards. Then, she suddenly appeared next to her desk too (though not so close to her), her face showing not a pint of bothering that her own secret was revealed.

"You got me, very impressive." She says, nodding slightly, the flustering of talking about the headmaster still lingering on her cheeks.

At Hanami's 'proposition', however, she gasps: "Gah! R-really? Would you do that? Would you teach my class for me?! I would be very grateful..." She say, totally shameless.

At Adela's remarks, Mizore only gives her an annoyed side glance, "Hey there; a golden-hearted moralist, eh?! Really lame, if you ask me... Man, I thought you were cool..."

Then, when Matsui says (seriously or not) he would ask on his dad, she instantly slides back at her previous position, "Oh, really?! Thanks very much..." Her face warmer than ever, "I'll be waiting your call..." She says, bending over his desk, inches away from his face.

With that, she turns and returns to her chair, not paying heed to anything else he says.

Tuning out of Matsui's speech halfway through (it reminded her distinctly of a buzzing mosquito), Hanami only got more annoyed by Mizore's shamelessness. "What!? No, I'm not going to actually-" She started to protest indignantly, but then she stopped, a devious smile spreading across her face.

"Actually, you know what? I'll teach your class for you, Miss Shirayuki. But there will be a few stipulations." Hanami stood and walked up to Mizore's desk. Her wand was clutched in her hand and her arms were crossed authoritatively. "First, you're going to be sitting at my desk so I can watch you closely. Second, you're going to pay attention, just like any other student. Third, if I catch you staring wistfully at the headmaster's office or asking Aono weird questions or not paying attention in general, I'm going to zap you." The tip of her wand crackled with electricity for emphasis. It was a harmless, but certainly not painless, little cantrip that kids in her village used to play 'thunder tag'. She hated that game with a burning passion when she was growing up, but she had to admit the spell could be useful sometimes.

"I also reserve the right to zap you whenever you annoy me. If those terms are acceptable, then go take your seat, Mizore. Homeroom is almost over anyway." Hanami smiled. The thought of electrocuting Mizore whenever she pleased was quite uplifting.

Adela raised her eyebrow. Being from a foreign country, she didn’t know the importance of Aono but she at least understood the general jist of what the young man was trying to say and nodded approvingly at him.

Then it seemed as though their class was doing a bit of a role reversal here. Not that the golem minded, that witch girl seemed smart enough, though they were the same age so how much could she actually teach?

Her dull eyes gazed at Mizore and she rolled her eyes, completely shameless. The golem couldn’t wait to be out of here.

Mizore blinks multiple times at Hanami, her expression blank. "B-but, I'll have to stay and pay attention? And no stalking?! What's in it for me, huh? As a teacher, I at least have the freedom to do what I want..." She inquired.

Then, she gave a look at Hanami's shocking wand, "Hmm" Her face turned into a devious grin, rivalling that of the witch, "I see... I didn't knew you were into that stuff... You actually reminds me of Ruby. Though she was more into getting zapped than zapping, but to each their own, I guess." After that digression, she came back to the main subject, "So, you take out these requirements and duties for me, and I'll be glad to accept your offer! I can even leave an ice doll on your desk, so you can have the fantasy I'm under your control and paying attention, teehee!"

Lín Jìng chuckles at the teacher's story, then gets a grip, and averts her gaze from the duo two competing mentors, and her gaze falls onto Aono.

Adela rubbed her forehead for a moment before sighing. This was not what she was expecting. The golem stands up and looks over at Hanami. "Be careful. She might dump all of her workload onto you..and I'm pretty sure there is more to being a teacher then just teaching." She would point out, again with zero change to her expression.

"We could just threaten to tell the headmaster to fire her unless she does her job. You know, so that she could never..ever...see him again."
Nov 5, 2024 10:41 pm
The implications made Hanami's cheeks turn red, her smile quickly dropping. "Wh-wha... Nice try, hag, but I'm not into that stuff. Wait... Ruby? Ruby Tojo, that witch who likes to dress up? She's an M? How do you even know that...?" She asked suspiciously. There was probably a perfectly reasonably explanation, but Hanami's mind went to dirtier places. Images of Ruby being dominated by Mizore invaded her brain. Gah! NO!!! She shook her head to clear the thoughts. She didn't want her nose to start bleeding again. "Nevermind, I don't want to know!"

Hanami glanced over her shoulder at Adela and nodded respectfully, somewhat appreciating the backup. "That's a decent one. But I don't want it to come to that." She replied. And I doubt it'd work. She figured if the headmaster could control his staff, the fight at the commencement ceremony would've never happened. Actually, where was he during all that? She felt it strange he wouldn't show up to such an event, but that was a question for another time. She continued glaring down at Mizore. "As if I'm just going to let you get off scot-free while I do everything for you. My stipulations stand. What, are you afraid I might teach you something? Or will you melt if you stop thinking about the headmaster for an hour or so?"

"Uhmm... Actually-" She starts happily answering the first question, but then is cut short by Hanami. "Hmm, ok... boring." But Hanami's resolve was so strong that, even dipping her head on those thoughts a bit more didn't draw a single drop of blood from her nose.

As to her last question, about what she feared, it put Mizore in serious ponderation before answering, her face dead serious, she says in the driest tone monsterly possible: "Both."
