"I see no sign of danger. There's an empty room on the other side and I sense no spells nearby - living or otherwise."

"There's a bar across the doors on the inside. Hopefully, these handles will lift it. If not, Thorhak may be able to lift it free if we slip something slender and strong through this crack. Worst case, it should be easy to break the bar."

"Tryne, there's plenty of room for the carts on the inside"

She grasps the handle on the left door and attempts to turn it.

"The doors should be quite heavy, so even considering Torhak's great might teamwork is likely in order," 37 states, stepping forward to assist with lifting the bar and opening the door.
Dec 22, 2024 4:34 pm
Torhak cracked his knuckles, "Let me give it a shot" he saddled up to the doors and began to attempt to open them with all his might!

Laulalith, 37 and Torhak find the handles seamlessly rotate. Inside the door, they can hear stone clicking and see the beam moving. The doors don’t move. They are unable to turn the fourth handle since it is out of reach.

out of reach because it's too high, or because its inside?

OOC:
Out of reach because they’re too far apart from each other

So we need a fourth volunteer. If it's effortless to turn the handles then Mage Hand may be enough.

Vice speaks up as he sees the others working in vain. "Should we all help? Even Talon if that's possible?" he ask, as he walks toward the doors
Dec 22, 2024 9:43 pm
Meepo sees the fourth as the group trys to open the door and runs up and turns the fourth handle
Dec 22, 2024 10:38 pm
Tryne sees Meepo move up to the fourth spot. He will move forward to help with the door or if the shorter member of the team has trouble reaching the 4th handle.

The six explorers set out attempting to open the door. They quickly realize the handles need to be turned in the proper order. 37 has been studying Kalli’s map quite extensively and realizes her patron made a note of the order.

With a few tries, the hear a series of clanks and the sound of chains inside the stone doors pulling the beam out of the way. With everyone pitching in, the doors slowly grind open, revealing a large staging area. Nearly a dozen dead bodies lay strewn about. Those familiar with the Mournland recognize the cold grey pallor of the skin. The corpses show no signs of age or rot. Simply lifeless, many of the corpses stare off into nothing or show the telltale sign of someone caught by surprise. The emotion now permanently etched into their faces.

The chamber seems to have been designed with titan sized creatures in mind. Lit only by the fading light outside, the room has two darkened doorways large enough for a small warforged titan to enter. Titaness would have needed to crouch to move through these doors. Crates lay scattered around the chamber

Vice will try to start closing the eyes of the dead. (Using Mage Hand, because he's a little creeped out) "There are so many" he says solemnly "Should we bury them? Take them back to Mother Jahanah? Leave them here? Surely no one is still waiting for them to return?"

"Meepo can help burry them outside. ... Are we sure they are dead though? They have no rot or anything"

Ghostly Duo
Vice solemnly closes the eyes of the last fallen person. Likely a Cyran guard or soldier. He turns to his companions as a spectral white sword bursts out from his chest. A towering white appears behind him, slowly drifting up with his hand holding the sword. "Oi! Leave them alone!", ghost says in a deep voice.

Vice feels the icy cold of the translucent sword through his chest, but feels no pain. A most unusual sensation. He appears otherwise uninjured. No wound or blood is seen. "Professor, I got one!", he calls to someone unseen.

A second ghost floats into the doorway but doesn’t enter the chamber, "Klause, you buffoon… your imbecility knows no end…", the second ghost leans against the door frame, folding his arms disapprovingly. "Has the blade even cut him?"

Klaus looks at the blade still stuck in the gnome. "Well, no."

"And why not, Klause?", the Professor asks condescendingly.

"Ooh! I know this one! We haven’t learned how to touch outside the ethereal yet. Right professor?"

"Bravo, you nincompoop."
Dec 23, 2024 4:10 am
Vice looks at his chest, still in shock."I assure you i meant no disrespect. Can we please move the sword before Klause does learn?"
Dec 23, 2024 4:14 am
Torhak watched the display disbelievingly, were these ghosts of the soldiers in this room? One of them was called a Professor though, was this a place of learning? Or were these spirits free roaming.

"Ghosts..." Torhak said plainly. He took Vice's non chalantness as evidence he'd seem them before. "This isn't your first encounter with Spirits?"
Dec 23, 2024 4:25 am
Meepo stands there a bit hesitantly and then slowly inches forward and raises a hand in front of the professor. "Hee..llo! Im Meepo. Nice to mmmeet you!" He raises his hand as if to shake the hand of the spectral creature knowing that the professor just said that he wasnt able to touch outside the ethereal.
Dec 23, 2024 6:51 am
"This is my first encounter with ghost that were, mercifully, ineffective in attacking me. No offense sir"
Dec 23, 2024 1:41 pm
"We had intended to put these people to rest, instead of letting them continue to simply lay here like cast off broken weapons," 37 interjects. "We believed they deserved more respect in death than this. Why would that be objectionable?"

Klause & The Professor
The Professor looks at Meepo’s outstretched hand. "Perhaps you missed my dimwitted colleague’s comment that we are unable to touch the physical plane… yet."

Vice feels the cold of the blade, slide out of his back. "Right. Sorry, mate. I was a guard, you know.", he points to one of the larger soldiers near the entrance door. "That one. They said something was coming. So we barred the doors, right Professor?"

The professor floats through the kobold and over to the opening. Meepo feels as though a freezing mist his just passed through his very core. The ghost then pushes against an invisible wall, appearing unsurprised by the result. "Yes Klause, very good.", he says with a sigh. He turns to 37, seeming to inspect him. "As a Cyran construct, I would expect no less. Yet, you also arrive with a ragtag outfit of misfits. One might suspect you abandoned your post."
