Agreed. That's a quorum. Let's return.

I also prepared Bless to help out with traveling through the wall. So I can do up to 4 people with a second level spell slot.

Meepo is ready for the mist

As she finishes her lighthearted comment and takes a look around at her companions in the compartment, Laulaith realises that no one has an appetite for staying longer in the Mournland than absolutely necessary. "... or not. We can also just continue. I for one am looking forward to a hot meal and a warm bath back in Salvation. As long as the rider keeps their distance, we should be safe." She follows the distant black speck with her eyes as they continue. 'Still, I would have liked to know what they're up to.'

As they approach the mist, Laulalith feels her fear and uncertainty grow. Last time, she had barely made it out, and this time she is drained after the morning's battle. To steel herself for what is to come, she pulls out her flute and starts playing a marching tune. A little later, she lets the tune merge into that of a heroic ballad, and then she starts to sing.
OOC:
Bardic inspiration for 4 of the others as they enter the mist. I guess one of them was not inspired by Lali's performance. Any volunteers?
Here I'm assuming we make it to the edge of the mist without further incident. Hope that's true.

You can skip 37.

The group continues on their trek toward the towering wall of foreboding spirits. Their new horseback shadow seems unconcerned that the group have noticed him. The figure maintains the same pace as the cart, but never comes any closer. The figure only comes to a stop as the cart disappears into the mist.

The spirits swirl around them, clawing at the cart and it occupants. Teeth gnash at them as they press on. Tryne feels the elemental struggling against the spectral energy of the mist this time. The Khoravar is much more in tune with the machine now. Flashes of memory of an oncoming train fill his mind, but he wills the cart forward. The spirits whip around Tryne and Torhak in a frenzied cyclone, pulling at their minds, showing them terrors of their lives. Torhak’s dragonmark glows red. White heat flows through the broken shackles of the minotaur.

The late morning light of Breland warms the driver and his shotgun partner. The screams instantly silenced. Talon keeps a wary eye out for their tail as Tryne pushes the cart’s throttle forward, making haste for Salvation Outpost. Somehow the return trip seems faster. The familiar dusty town comes into view. The morning train, having already arrived, awaits its departing passengers. Talon taps her creator on the shoulder and points her nose toward the stranger that has rejoined them.
OOC:
How do you enter town?

"Wheres the safest place to take all this stuff?" Vice ask. He wasn't sure how to contact Kali

OOC:
Lali never met the buyer, so I'll let someone else take the lead here.
As I understood it, we were supposed to not be followed, so I guess we can't lead that rider to the buyer's doorstep.

Tryne slowly loosened his death grip on the controls, sweat soaked he did not realize how hard he was holding on during the passage. "That transit never going to get easy is it?" he comments, not expecting any response.

Hearing Vice's question, "Our shadow is still out there. This coach is not subtle, so anyone in town is going to see us arrive. I'm sure there are lurkers in town always on watch for returning scrappers, eager to ask what they found."

"Unless you can take it immediately to your contact, I'd say head straight to your church, everyone knows that's where you're at. Use some illusions to make it look like a minimal score. Unload quietly and quickly. Leave some of the more common items upstairs and then move the more valuable items into the hidden basement - assuming that is secure? I haven't see it."

OOC:
The main hall doors are large enough to fit the cart through and the interior would have the space to house the cart and the wagon for discreet unloading.

Also, 37 and Vice were given Kalli's address in town :)

Laulalith looks thoughtfully at the rider behind them. "I agree Tryne. Lets take this load back to the hall and bring the cart inside where it's hidden from prying eyes. Then we can send word to the buyer and arrange a delivery."

"I'll maintain an illusion on the load while we go the last stretch." As she speaks, the mirage that Meepo had created previously reappears to disguise their load as much less valuable salvage.
OOC:
Silent image at will, repeated if necessary.

"Should some of us hop out and greet the rider following us?" Vice ask
Jan 20, 2025 8:28 pm
"I'd be happy to hop out and greet them" Torhak said to Vice's suggestion.
OOC:
Definitely think back to the church, unload anything that's not being taken to the contact...if anything like that were to exist. Then head to contact with salvage?

Meepo shrugs "if we don't know how to get in touch with the buyer the probably best to take it back to the home base right?"

He looks to the group when talking about stoping. "whatever y'all want to do. I'll stay in the cart so we don't seem too aggressive in case it's just someone like the law or something "
Jan 21, 2025 4:27 am
"It would probably be best if he head to our benefactor directly. The sooner we offload our salvage, the sooner we find out what are allowed can keep." 37 is willing to give directions.

Tryne slowed the coach as they neared more occupied area. "Whatever your normal arrangement - that is fine with me. Depends on where in town they are and if they can house the goods or if they need to arrange to deliver somewhere else. If your not sure, I'd go into the church and Vice and Laulalith can stroll over to discuss arrangements. We can leave the cart loaded until we are sure."

The scrapper would usually know delivery details, but then he had always worked with a select few contacts and a much smaller amount of items.

Laulalith is preoccupied with gauging whether the rider is a threat - and whether there is really only one person following them, so she replies absentmindedly to the discussion about where to go. "I'll defer to 37 since I haven't communicated with our contact."

OOC:
Alright, you have some pretty good ideas. Just to clarify/organize the thoughts:

We're at the edge of town, are you confronting the stranger?

Based on the address 37 and Vice have, they would know that part of town has small dwellings, not likely able to house everything collected from the warehouse. You could stop at Kalli's house on the way. Or you could go call on her once you're in the church. There's always Belaluur's warehouse as well.

OOC:
37 is in favor of heading to Kalli's house on the way, to at least get directions for where she wants the salvage. He will agree to house it in their church and then notify Kalli that they've returned if others push for a little more discretion.

As for confronting the rider, 37 will leave that decision to others.
