"After we defeated the skeletons, we had the remains laid to rest, because they deserve as much. We also left one woman as undisturbed as possible. Our intent was to respect her final resting place," 37 says, indicating the entombed remains in question.

"Sounds good. Glad I asked before burying anyone or the wolves"

Meepo sees that the stairs are very clearly meant to prevent easy detection. Without 37 opening, it's unlikely he would have seen the gaps in the stone floor.

Torhak recognizes the iron dragon head and the tear drop shaped gem as a symbol of the Blood of Vol. He shrugs off the sensation in his mark as excitement that this may have been a temple of his newfound belief.

Laulaith studies the fractured obelisks and then is excited to find one intact. Objects like these are very rare indeed. The magic has gone from the crystal within, but the runes on the stone remain. The runes indicate a very dark, necromantic curse, intended to bind someone to the magic within the now dormant crystal. Within the runes carved into the stone, she knows that whoever was bound to them was cursed to protect someone named "Kassel Katena" and "Vera Uzimilele", forever. She would know the magic was limited to a very small range. The crystal may not have the magic within anymore, but with the proper adjustments to the runes, a re-energized core... and someone to curse... this artifact would likely function again.

Moving to the cauldron, the elf senses powerfully dark transmutation magic within the cauldron. She immediately recognizes the object as a hag coven's cauldron. She recalls hearing there are two versions of this object, a gold and an iron. This being the gold one. She knows that such a powerful object needs attunement and that attempts to do so, are likely to result in death. An three foot long, aged grey feather, probably from a birdfolk, lays beside it. Other large greyed feathers also lay about, near the cauldron and then up the stairs.

Meepo peers in the tomb upon the remains of the lone woman left in the crypt. On the lid is inscribed,
"Vera
my beloved…"

Meepo finds the remains of a woman adorned in intricate gold jewelry. Wrapped in finely woven black dress. An equally elegant longsword and longbow lie beside her.

"We will not disturb her," 37 says quietly to Meepo.

Torhak was unsure how his new found comrades would feel about the Blood of Vol. It wasn't widely regarded highly, but now seemed as apt a time to bring it up as any other, context and relevance mattered.

"Blood of Vol, seekers of the Divinity within. Most likely a place of worship"

"yes that makes sense" Meepo nods in agreement.
OOC:
since the cauldron requires attunement I'm guessing that gives off a glow when Meepo approaches correct? Does anything else give off a glow by chance?

Turning to Torhak, 37 cocks his head slightly as if to consider the minotaur's words. "Armat ir'Vallam seemed to have issue with the Blood of Vol. Should he ever return, there may be tension." The warforged pauses, and adds, "Of course, he also took exception to me -- though to his credit, he curbed his prejudices -- so I feel Famul would also draw his ire."

Looking around at the group, 37 adds, "He would be unhappy."

OOC:
I may have missed it, does Meepo have detect magic up?

OOC:
Tasrek says:
Meepo casts detect magic as he starts to walk around.

OOC:
Gah! So much… sorry!
Meepo does indeed see a faint glow of necromancy around the sword interred with Vera. As well as the much brighter glow of transmutation around the hag’s cauldron.

As with Laulalith, the kobold sees no magic in the broken crystals or the remaining obelisk.

Both would see the glow of abjuration around the gems securing the door to the chamber.
OOC:
Missed the teardrops as well.

OOC:
lol no worries.
As Meepo looks over the cauldron he says outloud to himself "this thing puts Meepo's alchemy set to shame" as he thinks to himself the possibilities of what could be created in something like this.

As they end their tour Meepo speaks up. if you don't mind I want to check something out in one of the last rooms" and he darts back to the room with the green hand wondering what made that green hand. Is it paint, is it spiritual plasm, is it from a creature that was summoned? The thoughts that has been bugging Meepo since they saw this room so he scraps just a tiny piece of into one of his empty viles to examine later. And then runs back to the group.

"if you guys were thinking of using this place more often what do you think about covering up the uh dead stuff? Meepo doesnt mean necessarily moving it or anything but maybe building a wall to cover them up or stone table over her to protect her but have her not right here out in the open?"
OOC:
just wanted to clarify no burying or doing anything with the wolf skeletons right? Meepo was asking about burying the wolf skeletons and then we started talking about not touching Vera. So I just wanted to make sure we are leaving the wolf skeletons alone as well

OOC:
Honestly, it was flavour that Mother Jahanah could care less about dead animals. She only collected the humanoid dead to give their final rites. I don’t know if 37 and Vice had a plan for them.

Meepo, roll me a nature check

Vice makes his way through basement halls with the others. With light, the space shows its age, but the little gnome performer sees the attentive details carefully carved into the stonework. In particular, in the first area at the bottom of the stairs, he sees an intricate carving that spans the length of the chamber. It appears to be a dragonmark of some sort, but unlike any he’s seen or heard of before. The twisting and curling lines etched in beautiful detail, woven together into the shape of a flying dragon.
[ +- ] Ceiling Etching
In the additional halls and room, the decor changes to much darker themes. Skeletal design and chains pervade the rest of the basement. As Vice is admiring the large green hand painted behind Vera’s tomb, Meepo returns from the cauldron to join him. While the wall shows the same age as the rest of the crypt, the green paint looks untouched by time. Reflecting the light, the hand shimmers with iridescence as Vice moves around the space.
[ +- ] Green Hand Mural
Meepo scrapes a small piece of the paint for himself. As an alchemist, the kobold easily recognizes finely ground, green dragon scale has been added to the paint to give it such vibrant colour that has not faded with time.

Torhak looked to 37, "Who is Armat ir'Vallam?" he watched in intrigue as Meepo and Lali investigated the spaces. He was no academic, but he was glad they seemed to be gleaning insights.

"He worked with us for a while, although he was instrumental in the fight with the Titaness. He was called away shortly after," 37 elaborates. "The world is vast, but you never know if paths may cross again down the road."

Laulalith studies the cauldron with cautious interest. It had certainly been used for dark purposes, and she strongly suspects that the birdfolk person had met a violent end as some kind of sacrifice. Most tools are no worse than the hands that use them. Most - but not all. And this cauldron might be an exception. Still, she cannot help but feel fascinated by the obvious power it contains.

When she finally manages to tear her eyes from the cauldron, she tries to follow the trail of feathers, still wondering what happened here.
OOC:
Obviously, 'likely to get you killed' is not a great sales pitch. Is there any way to get more info on the risks?

You could find an expert and show them, or find someone who can cast Identify. Artificer, Bard, Wizard…

Did 37 see a pearl worth 100gp at any of the merchants? We are nowhere near the ocean. Lol
