Torhak was near the door, sweeping, when he heard the knock. "I'll get it", he opened the door and looked at the Orc behind it. "Hello..."
Feb 19, 2025 4:18 pm
37 moves to follow Torhak. "We are pleased to see you made it without incident, Sir. I am 37. Please, do come in. Kalli and Belaluur are here awaiting your arrival." 37 will step back and to the side, letting Lord Tornn and his entourage enter the church. The warforged may not be much of a people personconstruct, but having been in the War he well understands courtesies and proper conduct around higher ranks.

Lord Orakh Tornn
Despite his impressive size, Lord Tornn has to look up to Torhak as the minotaur answers his knock. "Good afternoon, I am Orakh.", the half-orc replies in deep, polite voice, "Although I’m sure Ms. Alran insists on calling me Lord Tornn."

Lord Tornn graciously nods, placing a hand over his chest in thanks as 37 allows them in. The jhorgun'taal and his entourage enter the church. He looks around the cavernous hall, taking in the work in progress and particularly noting the elemental cart and its cargo. "An impressive device.", he says approvingly of the black machine, "You’ll have to share the story of how you acquired it."

Kalli Alran
Despite his admonishment, Kalli still greets Lord Tornn formally, "Lord Torrn, I am pleased you made it so quickly. It was a surprise that you wanted to do this in person."

Belaluur
Belaluur joins Kalli with a wide grin in her face, "I, for one, am glad to hear you aren’t hung up on formality. Hello Orakh, I am Belaluur, a humble broker here in Salvation Outpost.", she snickers giddily with her raspy voice as she offers her tiny hand to Lord Tornn.

Torhak had stepped aside as well, as soon as 37 said he was ok with the Lord entering. Torhak didn't know him from, well anyone else, so he would have needed some further convincing. That being said, he was surprised that formality of titles and courtesies of the courts extended out here, to what he considered a frontier. He didn't know much about bowing, eating with the right spoon, or dressing nicely, but he could see why others took comfort in the performance of it all.

Vice says "Well M'lord, You may call me Vice, but we can skip the pleasantries and show you what you've come to see." And he steps aside dramatically, even though he wasn't large enough to block anything Orakh was here to see.

Laulalith greets the lord with a formal bow and her customary introduction. "Laulalith the bard, at your service. It's a pleassure to make your acquaintance Lord ... I mean Orakh." For now, she is content to stay in the background and observe the transaction. Her curiosity drives her to ask about the lord's connection to the professor, but the question will have to wait until the time is right.
OOC:
Laulalith sent her report by courier the previous evening.

The orange haired artificer stood out of the way with Talon at his side. Obviously not hiding, his hair color made that difficult, but not drawing attention to himself either. He had spent a lot of time the previous night going over the notes and armor again. Part of him was sad to see such a device leave, but there was no choice in the matter, plus scoring points with an influential patron could be quite valuable for future work. Tryne did not step forward to introduce himself - Vice was the leader of the group and Laulalith was far more educated on social things. Let them be the face of the group, he was mechanic, which reminded him he wanted to check the wheels and under carriage of the coach before they went out again. Better to fix small things after ever run than wait for something to break.

DrifterDwarf says:
Vice was the leader of the group
LOL, that's not true, although he is definitely the most outspoken. Vice would say that if they had a leader, it was 37

Lord Orakh Tornn
Lord Tornn does not rush to inspect the Guardian’s haul. Instead, takes a moment to greet everyone and introduce his staff. He smirks a little as he stoops to shake the goblin’s hand. The observant enough, see a deep crimson appear on Belaluur’s cheeks for a few moments.

Orakh introduces the three humans as Dempster, Tillman and Remi. The half-orcs, Urabur, Gulugash and Sorashk. The lord explains that they represent his bounty hunting guild.

Once the pleasantries are out of the way, he awaits Kalli’s unveiling of the salvaged items. Using a bit of showmanship, she starts with the uniforms, then the arms and armour, followed by the elemental rifles. He shows polite interest in the uniforms and arms. He and his staff take great interest in the rifles, commenting on their quality to agreeing murmurs.

Lastly, Kalli unveils the clockwork armour and the associated research. The half-orc stares reverently upon it in silence for several moments. He runs his grey hands over the unfinished lines. "Outstanding.", he says finally. "Thank you all."

"You found the old man’s work as well. Most impressive."

Laulalith steps forward at the mention of the professor and his work. "We found more than that ..." She makes a short dramatic pause before continuing. "... we found the professor himself and talked with him. He asked us to give you his regards ... in his own fashion."
Feb 20, 2025 2:43 pm
"To elaborate, Sir... the professor's ghost remained, tied to his work. When we collected his masterpiece, it freed him from that place," 37 interjects politely, to provide context as to why they had not brought the Professor with them if they had indeed found him.

Vice absentmindedly says "I hope he wasn't owed any wages. He may come to collect." He adds "How are you going to transport all this stuff M'Lord?"

Lord Orakh Tornn
Lord Tornn ponders this news from the three for a long moment. He pats the armour firmly, "Indeed, I do owe Professor Avgo a debt for his work.", he says finally. "His ability to combine the old clockwork with the new elemental machines was unsurpassed.", he nods to himself. "There is comfort that his knowledge endures. Perhaps, you know where he went?"
Feb 21, 2025 8:59 pm
"We saw what direction he went and overheard something about his destination. But finding a ghost in the Mournland will be difficult."

Lord Orakh Tornn
Lord Tornn nods grimly. "I suppose that is true. He had a workshop in Kalazart. Though, the city has eluded discovery."
Feb 21, 2025 9:52 pm
Vice raises an eyebrow as he ask; "The entire city is elusive?"

Lord Orakh Tornn
"That is what I am told. The city sits like a mirage. When those get close, it disappears or the explorers become lost. Unsurprising, I suppose. We may never fully understand what the effects from the Day of Mourning caused."
Feb 22, 2025 3:41 am
Meepo winches at the mention that the professor is still around and has moved to a different location but then relaxes once he hears Orakh mention the workshop.

He then walks up to each of them and offers them a pastry. "do you think the city could be on another plane of existence?"
Feb 22, 2025 3:50 am
Another plane of existence, that Meepo seemed to have many fantastic, but creative, thoughts. "Could be, maybe all of the Mournland is, and the city escapes back to our plane when it is unseen"

Lord Orakh Tornn
Orakh nods at the conversation between the minotaur and kobold. "It is difficult to speculate on rumours. Yet, there may be something to that thought.", he says

"However, the matter at hand is as Master Vice has asked, we intend to ship the goods out on the morning train. I have secured stowage aboard the first lightning rail. My crew and I will ensure it’s safe transit."

Belaluur
"Not before I get my payment, Orakh.", Belaluur interrupts.

"May we use the back room for negotiations, Vice? 37?", she asks of the two.
OOC:
Assuming it’s alright, the two will excuse themselves from the rest.
