"I am unfamiliar with boredom," 37 replies. "I mean, I understand the concept of it, but on a personal level I've never experienced it. Side effect of not sleeping, I assume. My mind is always occupied.

Torhak was often in awe of the Warforged peoples, this factoid brought him no less amusement.

Tryne focusing constantly on not driving the coach into a deep bog could only wish he was bored. "Don't anyone start a drinking game back there or anything."

Kalli laughs, "It’s true of us scavengers too. Weeks of following leads and research then into the Grey. If you’re not willing to get your hands dirty, you’ll never take home anything truly great."
Kalli finally leads Tryne to some higher ground. The road rises out of the blackened water. Talon keeps a close watch to the left into the swamp. The afternoon seems to cool slightly, giving a much needed reprieve from the stifling mugginess.
37’s sense of being followed is reinforced by the sight of some sort of creature rising slowly out of the swamp just over a hundred yards away. Vaguely humanoid, with black scales and spines, a stretched face and red eyes. As quick as it is seen, it sinks back out of sight with barely a splash.
Once clear of tbe swamp, horse and cart tracks can be seen. It’s clear the wagon tracks continue into the swamp. No return tracks can be seen. Torhak is able to deduce the tracks are several days old and Kalli is confident that they are from Leith’s wagon. As late afternoon approaches, the tracks leave the road for a stony, black moss covered hill. "Our ‘safe house’ is up in there. It’s about an hour and a bit in, but it’s well clear of the swamp…", Kalli looks to Laulalith, "Are you certain we shouldn’t check it out?", she looks around trying to make sense of the tracks, but clearly distracted, then back to the elf woman.
Laulalith looks through an opening in the canopy. She can see the precious daylight slipping away. Flashes of the empty alcove fill her mind.
Do you go to the hideout? Or press on?

I’ll wait for Meepo, but he only needs a 4 for the group to succeed. Do you go to the hideout? Or press on?

"I'm convinced we won't find them in the alcove. But we cannot search this swamp at random, so I think we have to keep following the tracks. Unless one of your visions showed some clue to the location of that island that allows us to go there directly."
"Meepo, you said you saw a cart in your vision, right? I assume that must be Leith's wagon. In that case, we should definitely follow the wagon tracks. Find the wagon, find the survivors. At least I hope so."

"There are a couple of islands in the swamp where they could have retreated to. It would have been easier to take a stand with the water between them and an ambush. I think we could get to the first one before the sun sets, if we continue on. Or else it would have to be tomorrow if we check the hideout."
Apr 9, 2025 4:39 am
Meepo lost in his own thought of what this water is composed of and if there is any alchemic uses that he might be able to extract from it uses his mage hand to scoop some of the water into an empty vile as they go.
As they make there way up Meepo nods his head to Laulith's question. "Yeah i saw a cart turned over. It looked to be in distress. I dont think it will be any harm to check out the safe house since we are already here and you all mentioned that the mist could be spirits set to help us and there could be spirits that wish us harm so who Meepo is a bit scepticle trusting those visions. But yes Meepo saw an island and could be one of the islands Kalli is talking about that is up ahead."

OOC:
Thorhak saw the ambush happening on the road. That must be after the Grey Dogs returned to the road. So we should stick to the road and find the place where the wagon tracks rejoin it. Or check out the nearest island. Is that something Meepo can easily do on the brrom?Apr 9, 2025 4:27 pm

I've got one for staying on the road and one for going to the hideout. What does everyone else think?
Apr 9, 2025 5:26 pm
"Meepo, I understand your point but I don't think we can afford to allot the time to checking the safehouse. We can't know for sure what the collective visions mean, but it's a judgement call we have to make... and based on what the visions seem to suggest they're in more danger if they're out on the road. I feel that needs to be our priority," 37 explains.

Voting for sticking to the road to search.Apr 9, 2025 6:33 pm
"The visions could all just be fake" Torhak said plainly, "Meant to drive us mad, or worse to a terrible fate." he pondered a bit more before casting his vote, "I don't know what we should do, but I'd like to follow the road"
Apr 9, 2025 6:50 pm
Vice thinks for a bit. "Agreed I'd rather not get lost in the swamp today. Even if the island is out there somewhere"

She turns Stella away from the hill and leaves the cart tracks behind, following the main road instead. The hill gives an odd sense of protection as they continue. Instead of swamp on all sides, the black forest thins out over the hills to the east. As late afternoon approaches, the horse and wagon trail re-emerges from the hills. Torhak confirms that the trail is at least a day fresher, but there are still no tracks returning from Eston.
Kalli seems to take her first breath since they left the previous trail. "Okay, let's hurry!"
OOC:
Another round of checks please. Torhak has advantage.Apr 9, 2025 10:17 pm
"Indeed, onward to adventure, or rescue, or whatever awaits us." Vice replies as he looks into the forest. "Don't want to be ambushed by tree people" he thinks to himself
