Dear Audience,
This game started off as a Streets of Rage rip-off, then it became a Secret of Mana, Dragon’s Lair and Zelda rip-off, followed by a Star Fox rip-off that neatly transitioned into Aliens, messily transitioned to a Final Fight subway ride… and now we’re starting the final level on Mario-Kartesque "Double-Dashers."

I have ADD and basically I’m embracing that. Enjoy the show.

Ha! The first driver got BOO’d! (And I now realize I forgot to change the emoji to a tomato.) While I had to mess with the code anyway—because I really think attacks should have a better hit chance than defense—I changed the language. Stunts use the rating system from Just Dance.

I like not using words that imply you’re beating someone up when you’re not. The easy way to code all this involved vowels, hence the renaming of fight/shoot:

Defense still has a DC 5. I like the low odds. There isn’t a reward for different types of combos for defense. A "hit" is still like being grazed or jabbed, which doesn’t always hurt. I didn’t like seeing the word "miss" when you get hit, so I used a Secret of Mana term for the fail.

I want a variety of items for the kart race (and also for the sequel to this game). Items should always work (unlike attacks that can miss completely), so the only reason to roll is for a bonus effect or for the item to kinda blow up in your face a little.

It’s Hero•Girl•Sprite, so a girl sprite represents the bonus effect.

@Qralloq since no one got attacked yet, I’ll move things forward. I won’t treat the scene as if Luna didn’t act, but will instead double the effects of her next attack or stunt (or count a miss as a hit rather than double a zero), as if she was biding her time for a better result.

Hey, I'm just popping in to apologize for essentially disappearing here. :( It's not an excuse, but I really overestimated how good I am at adapting to life changes, and pretty much gave up on writing while hoping that I'll get a burst of inspiration eventually, which resulted in a cycle of being increasingly more afraid and therefore less inspired to post the longer I was absent. I feel bad about it, though honestly I should just know better and don't join fast games at all. I keep trying and I keep failing at it. But I'm glad to see that the games's still going!

I'm vaguely here, though I don't trust myself with it and I understand if I'm not welcome to return. But I'd like to at least follow along, if you don't mind! :) Maybe pop up with a meta comment at times, hehe.

(Also, I'm fine with this being public! I'm mostly hesitant with it because of stuff like in-character romance and tending to overshare personal info, but realistically, no one probably cares. XD)

You can also ditch the special commands for Pira’s move list. She still has the moves, but we’ll use the infallible -ITEM button for all item-use.

Okay… that post is much more likely to happen tomorrow. I’m taking my daughters to their first concert tonight. It’s a school night, but there is a very short list of artists I’ll watch with my daughters and Lindsey Stirling is pretty much #1 on that list.

That show surprised me in so many ways, all of which are good ways. She’s actually a very beautiful person.

@FlyingSucculent those actions were fine. I was curious whether players would defend or use stunt/fight/shoot. There wasn’t a wrong action last round.

For this round, @Qralloq,@Tickettbror,@Dmbrainiac will need to DODGE or BLOCK. (If you don’t roll for the driver, I’ll have her DODGE if you’re in danger of taking damage.)

Question: am I a Driver or a Gunner? I imagine Gunner, but just to confirm. XD

Yes, everyone is currently a Gunner (to my knowledge), but like in Double Dash, you can swap seats.

(You can also roll both a Gunner and a Driver action.)

What's the downside of doing both? Or is it like you roll first, then choose which one to use?

There’s no downside. Both actions count.


I think for the remainder of this "race," if you roll one action, I’ll roll the other (and I’ll assume there’s a seat-swap if you roll Gunner one round, Driver the next).

We’re past the half-way mark on the track. I changed the music to match the change in scenery.

@Qralloq , I decided to push ahead since all of the Daughterbots are destroyed and the Motherborg could not be attacked (though she did actually take 1 damage from a flaming tire from Tickettbror’s Super Combo).

YouTube recently recommended me a compilation of Dragon's Lair cutscenes, apropos of nothing. Google do be spying. XD
