"Let's see one, two, three, four, five. One more and..." Coda quickly scribbles the last name down "done. Here you go." Coda slides the paper to the man, watching his expression to see if he notices the heart.

The man takes a stamp and inks it briefly. Without looking over the names, he slams the stamp onto the document and places the paper in another pile. "Pier 5, Berth 8," he says, as he takes another quill and scribbles a few notes on the faded imprint of the stamp.

"Aren't you going to..." Coda, knowing they are in a hurry, lets out a sigh "never mind, thank you." He turns to the door "You heard the man Pier 5, Berth 8." and begins a jovial march out the door, to Pier 5, Berth 8, with his finger pointing up "Prepare to set sail, with some gusto in your step as we are probably late. The captain is not going to be happy to...see us." Coda lowers his hand to his mouth to try and contain his laughter but it doesn't have much effect.

Maenor smiles and happily follows after.
Oct 18, 2016 4:48 pm
Geno steps quietly after Coda, slightly more worried about the ship's change in destination than is probably warranted.
Oct 19, 2016 7:16 pm
The way to the pier is clearly marked and you are able to find the appropriate dock easily enough. There is only one ship moored at Pier 5, presumably the Fortune Star, and you can see the crew milling about on deck. The vessel spans a little over 100 feet in length with 3 masts and raised weather decks fore and aft. A single gangplank waits, spanning the gap between the pier and the Fortune Star.
Oct 19, 2016 11:48 pm
Kalis approaches the gangplank, and much as he has heard it done in stories, shouts, "Permission to board?"
Oct 20, 2016 2:48 am
Several heads pop up over the railing, an assortment of salted leathery faces of varying race. Judging from a brief glance, you determine there are half-orcs and elves mixed in with human sailors. Most wear faded tunics and trousers, a few have vests, and all seem adorned with some tiny piece of simple jewelry.

"Gran-TED!" bellows a clear baritone voice from aft. Standing at the rail is a tall elf of walnut skin, oak hair, and mahogany eyes. He wears a red bandanna across the front of his head, tucked behind ears laden with golden rings. An open-necked tunic and vest with a crimson frock coat makes this elf stand out from the others, and as he descends the stairs from the weather deck you can see a gold-hilted rapier at his waist.
Oct 20, 2016 8:50 am
Maenor grins in delight and makes his way up the plank, then waits at the top for his companions.
Oct 20, 2016 9:15 am
Coda walks up the plank with Maenor, matching his grin, and admires the finely dressed elf.
Oct 20, 2016 1:08 pm
Kalis crosses as well and holds his hand out to shake, "You must be the captain?"
Oct 20, 2016 2:02 pm
Daniel makes his way up the plank, tapping his cane in front of him though he does nearly trip over the edge at least once.
Oct 20, 2016 4:02 pm
Geno walks up the plank with his eyes on the elf's lovely rapier.

"A fine weapon, sir. I hope you have little occasion to use it on our trip."
Oct 20, 2016 4:39 pm
The elf nods a wordless thanks to Geno, and clasps the hand of Kalis before speaking to the sorcerer, "Captain Udutai, at your service." His smile reveals stained teeth, not quite perfect, but complete and straight enough to offer a slender and refined jaw. "I take it you and your companions are the charter, yes? Wonderful. Let us secure your parcels and set sail while the tide is right!"

Without waiting for a reply, Udutai turns and yells, "All hands to weigh anchor!" The ship bursts into activity as each person runs to their station and begins preparations to depart Eglar. After observing the crew for a bit, Udutai turns back to Kalis and says, "Allow me to show you to your quarters." With a sweep of his hand, he gestures to the door leading to the second deck.

You descend away from the bustle topside as Udutai leads the way past a common room to a short recessed area fronting three doors. The captain opens the middle door and steps into a single small room at the foredeck. Bereft of any furniture, there is enough space to accommodate 4 hammocks. "Apologies for the lack of accoutrements," says Udutai.
Oct 20, 2016 5:07 pm
"This is more than acceptable, Captain. Thank you for your accommodation. Please let us know when we can help out on the ship."
Oct 20, 2016 11:49 pm
Udutai points to the two doors flanking the main. "Heads," he explains. "I'll let you settle in. The main room back there is where the crew sleeps at night, so I humbly request you not bother them during those hours. Otherwise, during the day you're free to roam there or topside, but try to stay out of the crew's way. If you're looking for food, well we ain't got much but what the sea provides. Enjoy your trip."

He begins to walk away.
Oct 21, 2016 12:17 am
Coda smiles "Thank you, Captain." and waves to him as he is walking away. He turns back to face the room and laughs a little "It seems we are going to get antiquated to each other very closely during this voyage."
OOC:
It is a little unclear to me, are the hammocks already here or just the space for four?
Oct 21, 2016 12:20 am
OOC:
Space for four hammocks!
Oct 21, 2016 1:28 am
Geno spreads out his bedroll, looking confused.

"I guess this is what we're supposed to do? I'm not very familiar with sea travel..."
Oct 21, 2016 8:49 am
Just before the man leaves Maenor asks, "Captain? Might we borrow some hammocks?"
